Chapter 3

Since it's New Years Eve, I thought I might whip up an extra chapter for you guys! I know, I'm nice, I save you the suspense.

Percy's POV

I had hoped that I would end up having a dreamless sleep because, being a demigod, your dreams are never like everyone else's. In my dream, the moment I opened my eyes, I was chained up to a wall, legs and arms bound, in the place I wished I never had to come to ever again. Tartarus. And right in front of me stood the very embodiment himself of this wretched place.

"I told you there would be a storm coming, Perseus." Beside him lay a table lain out will all sorts of weapons, from daggers to whips. I had to go through the same torture over again. Tartarus grabbed his whip, turning the handle over in his hands.

"Before, you had your friends to help you out." He removed the cuffs from the left side of my body, forcefully swivelled me to the other side so my back was now exposed, and recapped my left arm and leg.

Tartarus chuckled low. "But here, no one can help you now." And he slashed at my back. Man, it hurt real bad, but I had to hold in my screams so it wouldn't get worse. By then, I had lost count of how many times he'd whipped me and there was the sensation of blood dripping down my back.

After who knows how long, Tartarus stopped and I could hear him placing the whip back on the table, retrieving something else to replace it. By the sound of it, the weapon was metal. I could now tell it was a dagger because he left shallow cuts along my back, even across the whip wounds he made. At this point, I couldn't take anymore. Screaming my head off, he laughed as he kept on going. How long until this nightmare ended?"

Loki's POV
Thor and I were so eager to get to know the young hero, and luck bound upon us when we found out that Tony Stark had a nephew and it was none other than the hero demigod himself. Although, the moment we heard a scream, it had to have come from Percy so I teleported up there to see what in Odin's name made him scream. The second I opened the door, I had to make an illusion on his body, the bed and on the cameras so no one other than Thor, Wanda and myself would know what lay behind it.

Percy, as the young hero preferred, was thrashing around, the sheets were stained with his blood and I could see some injuries supposedly made from a whip at the edge of his waists. He screamed every now and then. All I did was stand by the doorway, wide-eyed until everyone else came to his room.

Tony, being a responsible person (won't see that side of him for a while), walked over to Percy's bed slowly, trying to awaken him by shouting his name. Occasionally, Tony would poke his cheek to wake him up, but whatever nightmare he might have been having to do such a thing would not wake him up.

At one time, Steve actually brought in a bucket of water to see if it would wake him up but not even that worked. Thankfully for Percy, that would heal some of the wounds. Thor and Wanda looked at ms, knowing I set an illusion for the other Avengers, and I simply nodded. At one point, Vision came in and guessing from his closed eyes and concentrated look, he too, had dwelled within Percy's head.

As he was about to inform everyone else, I nudged him and shook my head. Whispering so only he could hear, I said, "Let him tell everyone himself. He wishes to keep it a secret." Vision, in understanding, nodded his head, looking extremely shocked the moment I let go of the illusion on him. Pietro seemed puzzled. "What type of nightmare could zis kid be having?" Slowly and calmly, I steppes forward. "I could possibly withdraw Percy from his dream, that is, if you would allow me to."

Tony crossed his arms. "How do I know you're not the one doing this?" Even though I had joined the Avengers, there would be occasions where other blamed me for strange behaviour. Maintaining my calm demeanour, I replied, "I would never do that to a child or teenager, especially him. He's already suffered too much to get treated worse."

Tony obliged, stepping aside, granting me permission to take Percy away from his nightmare. Pressing two fingers against Percy's forehead, I delved into the nightmare he was having. The moment I appeared, invisible to anyone within the nightmare, I saw Percy with some other being, scrapping a dagger across his back, Percy then screaming. For a boy his age to be tortured during his sleep is something I could not bare. Using my power of illusion once more, I made this other being see Percy being released from his chains and running off down the hallway behind me.

"How?" He grumbled, then ran after the fake Percy. I made myself seen to the real Percy, who I released from the cuffs. Hopping down, Percy weakly craned his head to find out who saved him. "Thanks Loki. What did you do?" Glancing back, checking to see if he'd returned, I answered, "There isn't much time. I created an illusion to make him think you'd escaped. Now come, I need to get us out." Percy stepped closer, allowing me to touch his forehead, sending us out.

However, before leaving, the voice of the one I recently fooled echoed throughout the open space. "Beware, son of the sea, for this was only the beginning." Finally escaping the nightmare, I removed my fingers from Percy, who was now awake, sweating and, to Thor, Wanda, Vision and myself, still bleeding. All the Avengers let out a sigh of relief. Tony, the most.

"One of the few times I will say this to you Loki." I looked across to Tony. He took a breath in before exclaiming, "Thanks." Quaintly, I nodded my head as a sense of recognition, removing myself from Percy's side to talk to those who knew about his secret. We all gathered, seeing as I wished to speak with them. "What was he dreaming about?" Wanda asked, curiosity and worry laced into her voice. "Let's see if the young hero wishes to tell us personally."

They all nodded in agreement, understanding his privacy. The Avengers kept badgering Percy with questions, which made Percy look stressed. Looking over at Percy, he caught my gaze, relieved, and I gestured over to my brother, Wanda and Vision who wished to talk with him, hoping that he would get my message. Fortunately, he did. "Um guys, is it okay if I talk to Wanda, Loki, Thor and Vision for a sec?" He weakly questioned. The other Avengers took glances at us, before exiting the room.

Before everyone left, Percy yelled out, "And no eavesdropping!" Clint made a faint nod before shutting the door. Wanda made sure no one was lurking outside the door, then made her way to Percy. Thor addressed, "Jarvis, please shut down all security cameras within the room. No one but the people in here are permitted to switch it back on." Jarvis responded with, "Of course, Thor." Once all was taken care of, we all looked at Percy, expecting him to answer the question he knew far too well.

Percy exhaled a sigh. "My dream wasn't exactly like a normal dream. It was one that would affect me on the outside, as you can already see." Looking, I noticed that the blood flow was slower than before, but still leaking out. Percy winced slightly and was beginning to look pale. "Does anyone happen to have a bucket lying around somewhere so they can fill it up with water?" Wanda, using her magic, she floated the bucket over to the bathroom, filling it up with water in a miraculous amount of time, then floating it back gently, in case it were to spill.

Percy slowly sat up, wincing at any of his injuries. "Is it okay if you tip it on me?" Wanda had a quizzical face, yet she did it anyway. We watched Percy as the water slowly healed any injuries, leaving scars in its wake. Once all was healed, Percy evaporated the water, finally able to speak without hurting himself.

"Okay, so basically after I killed Gaea, Tartarus wanted revenge so he killed my mortal parents. He left a note, telling me to prepare for the worst, and for now, it seems to be torturous nightmares, giving me injuries in the dream so it appears on my body in real life. But before I left my nightmare tonight, he said that it was only the beginning."

We all glanced at each other, feeling sorrow for the young hero. Vision spoke up after many silent minutes. "Why don't you tell the other Avengers? Mr. Stark, preferably." Percy shook his head in disagreement. "I want to keep my secret for now. I don't want them stuck with my problems, especially where things are now. I'll tell them all when the time is right." Murmurs of 'okay' and 'understood' were shared around us after Percy's explanation.

My brother stood up first, along with me, Vision, then Wanda. "Well, young Percy, let us hope that for the rest of the night, there are no dreams whatsoever. And that you sleep well." Percy nodded slowly, giving us the cue to exit his room. Before Wanda turned around to exit, she hinted, "Make sure there's no blood on zose sheets. You don't vant anyone seeing zose." Percy agreed, nodding his head in thanks.

I was the last to leave so before closing the door, I whispered, "I've made sure you have no more dreams for tonight. For any other night, when you scream is my signal. And I'll be in the room towards your right." Percy slightly smiled, replying with a 'thanks' before drifting back off to sleep. I bet we're all hoping Percy makes it through all this. We know he's been through hell and back (literally) but having to survive this every night is extreme torture. Entering my room, I changed into casual clothes fit for sleeping, slipped beneath the covers of my blanket and fell sound asleep.

A/N I hope that was a good chapter. I did use a couple of big words here and there, learning from searching some alternative words to 'said'. Make sure to comment any mistakes, I'll make sure to fix them up and feel free to comment any feedback you have in mind, make sure it's something I can work on for chapters yet to come. Ideas to get the story moving would really help, so comment, comment, comment! Leave a vote please, that would show me so much dedication and appreciation from you guys!

See ya for another adventure!
