Chapter 2
Picture of Kaydee.
I don't think I'll be drawing pictures for this story, it's too much work😂
Not my picture, just saying that so I don't get sued for using it or something:)
Sasuke ran through the shadows like a ghost, flickering in and out of view. He could hear the pounding of the police's footsteps as they pursued him.
"Persistent little brats," he muttered. Sasuke had been chased by the police from above countless times. None had ever caught him. None of them had the ability to.
The soft, flabby, well fed police were no match for the quick lean boy who'd lived underground his whole life. So he was surprised when he launched himself over one of the high brick walls to hear the green-vested men follow suit.
"Not bad," he muttered to himself. "Maybe they finally got serious about catching me."
He made a sharp turn around a building, ducked into an alleyway, sped toward a secret exit he often used, and crashed headlong into a small person.
"OWWW!!!" Kaydee screamed at the top of her lungs.
"Shut up!" Sasuke hissed, clapping his hand over her mouth.
The girl struggled briefly for a moment before finally realizing who was holding her. She frowned up at him with questioning eyes.
"Listen--don't say a word. The police are after me, I don't know whether they heard you shout right now, but the likelihood is that they did. If I go out right now, they'll catch me for sure."
"Don't be silly Sasuke, the police could never get you." Kaydee interjected.
"These guys are different, they can actually keep up with me." Sasuke said, frowning. "Stay quiet, okay? Maybe they'll pass us."
The two waited in hushed silence, listening to the men's crunching footsteps. Sasuke held his breath as they passed by, exhaling in relief when they were gone.
They sat there, stock still for five more minutes, waiting to see if they would come back. When only quietness ensued, Sasuke stood up. Immediately he sensed something above him. Grabbing Kaydee, he leapt out of the way as a weighted net came crashing down right where he'd been seconds before.
A green vested person stood on the rooftop, glaring down at him. His golden hair spiked up all over his head, and ice blue eyes narrowed hatefully.
Sasuke didn't waste anymore time. He scooped up Kaydee and ran. He couldn't leave her there now that they'd seen him interacting with her. They'd haul her in and question her for sure.
Behind him, he heard the dull thump of the blond person as he jumped off the roof.
"Listen, I'll put you down at the next alleyway, and you make a run for it, got it?" Sasuke whispered harshly.
"Yup," Kaydee whispered back, clinging to his neck. She sounded terrified. "What're they gonna do if they get you?"
"They won't get me," Sasuke said reassuringly. "I'm too good for them."
Finally, he made a quick left, depositing Kaydee safely on the ground. "Go!"
She took off running on her skinny legs, disappearing into a doorway of an old abandoned building. Sasuke watched her for a few moments before taking off himself.
Glancing over his shoulder, he noticed the boy was only thirty meters behind him. Picking up the pace, he tried desperately to lose him, but the boy only ran faster as well.
"Wait..." He murmured to himself. "Aren't there two others..."
No sooner than he'd spoken those words, an excruciating pain exploded in his side, and he slammed into the wall on his right. Groaning, he stumbled to his feet, trying to find the source of the attack.
Out of a dark alley way stepped a gray haired man, lowering his foot from the kick he'd used to send Sasuke flying. Right behind him came a pink haired girl, and in her arms was...
"Kaydee!" Sasuke gasped, still clutching his side.
"I'm sorry, they got me," she whimpered. "She was waiting for me, she knew exactly where I was."
Sasuke glowered at the three vested police. "What do you want from me, you low lives?"
"Well, you've committed a fair amount of crimes," the gray haired masked one said dryly. "I suppose a clever boy like you should be able to figure it out."
"DON'T--MOCK--ME!" Sasuke was on the man before he could stop him, hitting him with every limb.
The blond haired boy quickly came to his rescue, attempting to push Sasuke off.
Sasuke smirked, ducking the blow and coming up behind him, before giving him a swift shove that knocked him into his superior.
Sasuke pulled out his eight inch blade from his belt, slowly advancing. The blond staggered back to his feet, drawing his own weapon, a large knife at least double the size of his. With a cry, he ran at him, sweeping at his feet in order to knock him down. Sasuke leapt high into the air, avoiding his leg, then kicked straight out with both feet, nailing him in the chest.
The boy flew back several feet, smacking his head hard on the cement wall behind him. He didn't move for a few moments. Sasuke wondered whether he'd been knocked out. Then he raised his head, glaring at him so fiercely, Sasuke shivered. He covered it with a piercing look of his own, all the while wondering if this boy had a personal vendetta against him or something.
Shaking his head, he ran at the boy, intent on taking him down before his superior could get back up.
"Stop!"
He froze. The pink haired girl had spoken.
"Turn around. Look. At. Me."
He knew what he would see. There was no other option.
Slowly, he turned his head. The girl was holding her own blade to Kaydee's neck, who was sobbing fearfully. "D-don't let 'em k-kill me. I don't w-wanna die!"
"If I were you, I'd stand down. Unless you'd like to see this little girl dead." The girl's voice was cold, emotionless.
This. This is why he'd made himself that promise. Why? Why did he have to break it? Why did he become attached to someone he knew he might lose?
Gritting his teeth, he lay his blade on the ground.
"Put your hands on your head."
He paused, his hands bunched into fists.
"Do it!"
Closing his eyes, filled with boiling hatred, he lay his hands on the back of his head. The gray haired man walked up behind him, and grabbed his hands roughly. Shoving them behind his back, he bound them tightly with rope.
"You've caused us a lot of grief, Uchiha." The man breathed heavily, still winded from Sasuke's previous attacks.
"You know me?" Sasuke bit out, his voice tight.
"Hah! Who doesn't know you?" The blond haired boy laughed coldly. "Let's see...you're wanted for theft, breaking and entering, vandalizing, attacking several citizens, unauthorized weapon use, several alleged murders--"
"Murders?" Sasuke asked, genuinely confused. "I've never killed anyone."
The boy's face twisted furiously. Lifting one leg, he kicked the back of Sasuke's legs hard. He went sprawling face first into the hard packed dirt, unable to use his hands to break his fall. Kaydee's sobs became louder.
"Yeah, I bet you said that to my mother before you slit her throat." The blond's voice shook slightly, his eyes reflecting pain and hatred as he stared down at Sasuke.
Sasuke frowned. Yes, he'd done some horrible things, but he'd never, not once, killed a person. "You've got me confused with someone else then. So shut up, get your facts straight, and let that little girl go. She didn't do anything to you."
The blond drew back and kicked him in the stomach. "We're the ones giving orders here, Uchiha. And don't lie to us. How about this. For every time you lie, we'll take it out on the little girl. But if you tell us the truth, maybe we'll let her go."
Sasuke's eyes narrowed. "You little--ugh!!!" The boy's fist connected with his face.
"How's it feel to be defenseless, Uchiha? Feels pretty bad, huh? I wonder what my mother felt like before you killed her? Maybe like how you're feeling right now? Helpless? At the mercy of others? I'm going to make you feel all the pain she felt, tenfold. I'll--"
"Save it for later, Naruto," the pinkette sighed. "Let's get going before anyone shows up."
"Fine," Naruto spat. "But I'm not done with you, Uchiha. Not yet."
The pinkette approached Sasuke, still holding Kaydee by her hair. She nudged him with her toe. "Get up and get into the truck."
Biting back his anger, knowing it would only get Kaydee hurt, Sasuke slowly rose to his feet. He was pushed forward to a truck he hadn't noticed before, parked in a corner.
Fury welled up in him as he realized what it meant. They'd planned this! And like a fool, he'd fallen into their trap.
Serves you right, he thought grimly. For underestimating the police. You should've known they'd eventually send better guys after you, and though ahead.
"Wait," Naruto ordered. He pulled out a length of cloth from his pocket. Tying it over Sasuke's eyes, he shoved him into back of the automobile. "Don't say a word."
Sasuke heard the door slam, and the truck start up. Kaydee's crying suddenly sounded very far away. He sat up straight. "Where's Kaydee?!?"
A hand hit him across the face. "She's none of your concern." That voice belonged to the gray haired man.
Sasuke boiled. None of his concern! That girl was practically his only family. He didn't care of he got beat, he wanted answers. "Where's Kaydee?" He asked again through gritted teeth. He was punched in the jaw, harder this time.
No. Don't let them silence you. "WHERE'S KAYDEE!?!"
BLAM!!! Stars danced beneath his eyelids, and he fell back, reeling in pain. Taking a few deep breaths, he centered himself before trying again. "Where's--" his voice was cut off as a hand wrapped around his throat.
"Unless you'd like to be choked to death, I suggest you shut up." That was Naruto. "Or we can just dispose of the girl."
Sasuke finally submitted. What other choice did he have? Sighing, he leaned back, trying to peek out from underneath his blindfold. He caught glimpses of an unfamiliar world. It must be above, he thought. I don't recognize anything.
Well, maybe he could escape. He'd learned how to get out of tight binds by living on the streets, and this was no exception. He'd already set the first part of his plan in motion, though his captors didn't know it.
As the masked man had bound his hands, Sasuke had purposely left a little space between his wrists, pressing outward against the rope and balling his hands into fists.
Now, he relaxed his hands, pressed his palms together, and slowly worked his hands out of the now loose bindings. Keeping his hands behind his back as so not to let them know, he tipped his head further back, struggling to get an adequate view of his surroundings.
As far as he could tell, Naruto was sitting in the seat in front of him, and the gray haired man was behind the wheel. The pinkette and Kaydee were no where to be seen. He couldn't even hear crying anymore.
Naruto was keeping a close eye on him. "Head down." He snapped, grabbing his hair and forcing his head down to his chest. He held it there for a few seconds, before finally releasing it with a shove and making a sound of disgust.
Sasuke waited a few moments before risking to raise it again. Peeking beneath the blindfold, he noticed Naruto had turned away, and was whispering to the masked man. Now was his chance.
Sasuke exploded forward, bringing his fist down on Naruto's head, and shoving the masked man's face into the steering wheel. Leaning over, he flipped the switch to unlock the doors, and leapt out of the truck.
As soon as his feet hit the ground, he yanked off the blindfold and started running. He had to get away--but first he needed to find Kaydee. There was no way he was leaving her at the mercy of these guys.
Scanning his surroundings, he searched frantically for the skinny girl. She was no where to be seen.
A fist collided with his left cheek, and he realized Naruto had caught up with him.
"Don't try to get away, you disgusting thug! I swear I'll beat you down-ugh!"
Sasuke kicked him in the stomach so hard, he collapsed.
"Sasuke!"
His head whipped up, his eyes searching for the owner of the voice. There, on the ten story rooftop, was Kaydee. And behind her, was the pink haired police girl. Holding her over the edge.
Anger bubbled up in Sasuke, a fury that he'd only felt once before awakening inside him. "PUT HER DOWN!!!"
"Are you sure you'd like me to do that?" The pink haired girl asked emotionlessly. "I can let her go if you turn yourself back into us."
Sasuke couldn't bear to make this decision. He was aware of exactly what he would face by giving himself up, but the question was, what would he be subjecting Kaydee to by refusing?
What should he do? If only there was a way to save them both.
"You're taking too long," the girl said. "Well, I've made my decision."
Sasuke's eyes widened marginally, realizing what she meant.
The hand on Kaydee's dress loosened. Then completely let go.
"NO!!!"
The girl plummeted to the earth.
Cliffhanger! Please don't hate me:) the next chapter will be coming soon!
