Chapter 1
*Beneath Konohagakure, the village hidden in the leaves, there is an underground city...*
The raven haired, onyx eyed boy was running. He slogged through the stinking water, moving as fast as he could. He was dressed in simple black trousers that were bound at the knees by his sandals, and a black long sleeve shirt. In his arms, he clutched a steaming loaf of bread.
*This city was originally a military base, but it proved to be unstable, so it was abandoned. Eventually, it was taken over by the poor, the criminals, and the less fortunate...*
Sasuke smirked, listening to the shouts of the angry baker behind him. As if he could catch him.
*And in that city, there was a boy, eighteen years of age, the last of a cursed bloodline. His story unfolds here...*
Leaping out of the shallow dirty river, he dashed through the streets, making numerous twists and turns. Finally, he reached the alley way that would take him to his home. A solid stone wall stood imposingly at the end of it.
Without breaking his stride, he ran straight at the wall, using his momentum to move straight up it, fly over the top, and land safely on the other side on both sandaled feet. The baker was no where to be seen.
Strolling down the shadowy sidewalk, he turned left into a narrow passage, and opened a small door on one of the abandoned buildings on the side. A long set of steps descended down into an empty blackness.
Hurrying quickly down them, Sasuke finally arrived at his "home"; a small moldy basement that practically no one else knew about. Collapsing on his rotting sofa, he pulled out his bread, still warm, and bit right into it.
"Good stuff," he mumbled. "God, I was so hungry."
He polished off the bread, brushed himself off from crumbs, and sauntered back up the stairs to the outside.
As he approached, people eyed him warily, and quickly made way. Sasuke smirked. They all feared, respected, or hated him. Not that he really cared. They were all insignificant, and if a single one got in his way, he'd crush them.
"Hey Sasuke!"
Well, most of them.
"Hey Kaydee," he grinned, kneeling down beside the ten year old girl. Even though he'd promised himself he'd never establish any connections with anyone, he'd developed a sort of brotherly affection for the scrawny brunette child.
"Got any food?" She begged, pleading with wide green eyes.
"Uh-huh," he replied, reaching into his black satchel and pulling out a green apple. "Catch."
She snatched it eagerly out of the air, crunching into it so that the juice ran down her chin. "Got anymore?"
"Sorry Kaydee, that's all I got on me right now. You just eat too much, I can't steal food fast enough to keep us both fed!" He ruffled her already messy hair.
"Nuh-uh! Hey guess what! I lost a tooth!" Kaydee flashed him a grin, exposing the gap between her teeth. "I even have the tooth right here." She pulled the small object from her pocket, and held it up.
"Ooh, lemme see that." Sasuke extended his hand. "Watch this." He closed his hand around the tooth, moved it around a couple times, and then opened it back up, showing her his palm.
Kaydee peeked at it and squealed. "Candy! You turned my tooth into candy! How'd ya do that!"
"Magic," Sasuke said, standing back up. "Gotta go to work now, be a good girl and stay out of trouble. Remember, if anyone bothers you, run away as fast as you can and come find me. I'll take care of them for you."
"Kay," Kaydee said distractedly, eying some kids who were smuggling some type of meat pie off a food stall. "Bring me something back to eat!"
Sasuke shook his head, laughing. "You eat more than me." Walking through the market place, his eyes shifted from side to side, on the lookout for unattended stands. But the shopkeepers knew him by now, and watched him with sharp gazes until he was a good distance away.
That didn't matter. He had his own methods of getting food. Sasuke continued moving forward until he spotted a sewage cover about a foot away from where a shopkeeper had set up his stalls. Perfect.
He turned and head in the other direction, slipping unnoticed into an alleyway not too far away. Opening the cover of another drainage hole, he climbed down, wrinkling his nose at the stench of human waste.
Sasuke conjured up a mental picture in his mind of where the sewage hole had been. Focusing on that picture, he speedily made his way down the tunnels and corners, until he reached the man-hole he was sure was the right one.
Climbing up the ladder, Sasuke began to slowly shift the lid off the hole, until there was a small sliver through which he could peer out of. Pressing his eye to the crescent, he saw countless amounts of produce just within arms reach.
Sasuke waited until the coast was fairly clear, then shoved aside the lid and began stuffing apples, potatoes, carrots, and any other things he could reach into his satchel.
Snapping the clasp, he was just about to lower himself back into the drainage hole when he heard a loud shout. Moments later, he felt himself being dragged roughly out of the ground.
Staring up, he looked into the eyes of the red-faced shop keeper. "You rotten thieves! Quit stealing our livelihood, and go get a job for yourself! I'll teach you a lesson for touching my goods!"
Sasuke laughed. "Really? You'll teach me a lesson?" He flipped himself back onto his feet, and slowly advanced on the man.
The man's eyes widened as he realized who he was facing. "Y-you're--"
"What was that about teaching me a lesson, old man? Would you like to repeat that?"
The shopkeeper shook his head, his face growing even more flushed by the second. "Look, I don't want any trouble, I just--" he cut off his speech as Sasuke stepped closer to him.
"Listen to me, you old fool. Don't tell me what I can and cannot do. It's bad to put yourself into situations like this, yeah? I wouldn't want anything to...happen to you." Sasuke threatened, a dangerous glint in his eyes.
The man gulped and nodded--then let out an audible gasp. "Police!"
Sasuke narrowed his eyes and whipped around. Sure enough, there were the green vested police of the upper ground.
"Those dirty rich snots," he grumbled. "I hate when they come down here, acting all high and mighty. As if we have any choice but to live in this filth."
The police who had been previously surveying the area suddenly fixed their eyes on him. At a nod from one of them, they began walking towards him.
"Time to get out of here," Sasuke muttered. He turned and ducked away, melding into the shadows once again.
Okay so what do you guys think?!? I'm really excited for this story and have a lot of good ideas! Please tell me what you think of it!!!
