Revenge on Ron
Hermione couldn't stop grinning in anticipation of their Hogsmeade visit in a few hours. It'd been so long since they'd been allowed into the wizarding village. Ron had gone off moping somewhere, like he usually did, and Harry was most likely with Ginny. Hermione didn't actually know where anybody was, and suspected that she might finally be making a Hogsmeade trip alone.
"Hermione!"
Familiar blonde hair rounded the corner, followed by Hermione's current favourite person.
"Draco," she said warmly.
"Ready for Hogsmeade?" He asked, looking at the bag in Hermione's hand.
"Definitely," she responded eagerly. "Only, there is no longer anybody left to go with."
Draco raised an eyebrow.
"I saw Weaslebee sulking by that tapestry of Barnabas the Barmy and the trolls. He was having a right old snuffle."
"Not like him at all," Hermione commented sarcastically. "Where's Blaise?"
"Snogging Padma," he answered casually.
Hermione's mouth gaped open.
"So I was right?" She gasped.
"Yes. Here." He dropped a Sickle into her outstretched hand. "Let's go to Hogsmeade, 'Mione."
"Yes, let's."
She slipped her hand into his and they walked away, oblivious to the angry blue eyes that followed their progress.
*
Hermione could honestly not remember a time when she'd had more fun. Draco was the ever-gracious gentleman, paying for their Butterbeers at The Three Broomsticks, buying her a book on house-elves that she'd been eyeing for a full five minutes, and even purchasing a blanket so that they could travel up to The Shrieking Shack and sit just beyond the fence in contemplative silence.
"Thank you, Draco," she murmured, not taking her eyes off his handsome face. He tore his own eyes away from the beautiful scenery to look at the pretty girl beside him.
"You're welcome, Hermione," he replied, looking deeply into the melting chocolate that was her eyes.
Unconsciously, Hermione moved closer; their lips were almost touching; if Draco bent his head just slightly, then maybe_
"Oy!"
Regretfully, Hermione turned from Draco's luscious lips to see a furious Ronald Weasley.
"Get away from my girlfriend!" Ron hauled Hermione away, causing her to trip and land hard on the ground.
"What do you think you're doing?" Hermione shouted, getting up from the grass. "Calling yourself my boyfriend? I haven't spoken to you in weeks!"
"I love you!" Yelled Ron. "I thought you knew that!"
"How would I?" Hermione screamed back. "You've always been a jerk to me! Do you think I never noticed whenever you called me an 'insufferable little know-it-all'? It hurt, Weasley, it hurt!"
"What about that ferret?" Ron roared, pointing at Draco. "He's always insulted you! I would never call you_ that name!"
"You! You foul loathsome evil little cockroach!" Hermione instantly had her wand out, pointed directly at Ron.
"You, you wouldn't," Ron stuttered, suddenly afraid.
"Yes, yes I would," Hermione snarled. "Petrificus totalus!"
Ron's limbs froze and he fell backwards, motionless. Both Hermione and Draco approached his still figure, Hermione's hand now back in Draco's.
"You never know, maybe the wolves will come out and have a little fun with him," Draco told Hermione, an evil smile on his face.
"Certainly the werewolves," Hermione replied savagely. "I've heard there are a few around here, waiting for children that lurk here after dark."
Ron's eyes went round with fear. Hermione laughed hysterically.
"Enjoy your stay!"
With one final manic burst of cackling, Hermione left with Draco in tow. And not so far in the distance, a wolf began to howl.
