Chapter7: Settling In Without Hiding Secrets

Intro:

No One POV:

Inside the Hotel, amidst the chaos outside, Niffty took a break at the bar, sharing a drink with Husk. They seemed unfazed by the commission beyond.

Husk cracked open another beer, downing half of it in one swift gulp before setting it down on the countertop. He glanced over at Niffty, who was delicately sipping her drink.

The distant sounds of explosions and shouts filtered in through the walls, but inside the bar, there was an air of calm.

Husk: "Not much of a heavy drinker, huh?"

Niffty giggled softly, her eye sparkling mischievously.

Niffty: "Oh, the only thing I can't get enough of is the blood of my enemies"

Husk's eyebrow arched higher, his expression a mix of amusement and slight concern. He took another sip from his drink, eyeing Niffty curiously.

Suddenly, the doorknob turned, drawing their attention. Husk let out a tired sigh, shifting slightly in his chair.

Husk: "Finally, my head was killing me from that snake's constant yelling"

Niffty: "If I was there, I would've killed him in no time"

To emphasize her point, Niffty grabbed a knife from seemingly nowhere and stabbed the air in a blur of motion. Husk raised an eyebrow, a hint of a smile tugging at his lips.

Husk: "You sure know how to make a point, Niffty"

Niffty giggled, twirling the knife with ease before setting it down on the bar.

Niffty: "Oh, you know me. Always ready for backstabbing"

Husk took another sip of his drink, his expression relaxing.

Husk: "Let's hope things calm down soon. I could use some actual peace and quiet"

The door creaked open, and the sounds of the commotion outside briefly spilled into the room before the door closed again.

Husk and Niffty turned to see what was going on. To their surprise, they saw Vaggie holding Ben by his shoulders, guiding him towards the main room. Angel Dust and Charlie strolled behind, giving him wary glances, while Alastor watched the whole ordeal with wicked amusement.

Husk raised an eyebrow, setting his drink down.

Husk: "Well, this looks interesting"

Niffty leaned forward, her eye gleaming with curiosity.

Niffty: "What do you think happened out there?"

Husk shrugged, his eyes narrowing as he observed the group approaching.

Husk: "No idea, but it looks like Ben's in some deep trouble"

Vaggie’s grip on Ben was firm, her expression a mix of frustration and anger. Ben looked resigned, glancing back occasionally at the others.

Charlie tried to offer a reassuring smile, but her worry was evident. Angel Dust strutted behind, his gaze fixed on Ben.

Angel Dust: "So, do you really think he's lying to us? About what he truly is"

Alastor's grin widened, his eyes sparkling with dark delight as he observed the scene.

Alastor: "Oh no, there is got to be a lot more to him than just a mere facade"

Niffty’s eye darted between the faces, her curiosity piqued.

Niffty: "Well, whatever it is, it’s bound to be exciting!"

Husk sighed, picking up his drink again.

Husk: "Yeah, exciting. Just what we needed"

As the group entered the main room, Vaggie pushed Ben towards the couch, making him sit down. She crossed her arms, her gaze never leaving him.

Vaggie: "Alright, start talking. Who are you really?"

Ben glanced around at the expectant faces, taking a deep breath.

Ben: "Alright, I’ll explain everything"

Charlie leaned forward, her worry mixed with hope.

Charlie: "We’re listening, Ben"

Alastor chuckled softly, his grin never faltering.

Alastor: "Oh, this should be delightful"

Husk and Niffty exchanged glances, their curiosity getting the better of them. They set their drinks down and walked over to join the group, eager to see what was going on.

Ben took a deep breath, glancing at each of them before speaking.

Ben: "Alright, everyone, here’s the truth. I’m actually a superhero. I was sent to hell during one of my battles with a fearsome villain"

As he spoke, he slowly stood up, striking one of his iconic poses with a confident smirk.

Ben: "I’m here by accident, but I’m not here to cause you guys any troubles"

A startled silence ensued, during which Chalrie's smile wavered a little, shaking her head in disappointment.

Chalrie: "Oh no..."

Meanwhile, Alastor slowly nodded, discovering the answer to be very unexpected but entertaining, and then Niffty and Angel Dust erupted into laughter.

Niffty: "A superhero? That's lame! Couldn't we at least get sent a super villain?!"

Angel Dust doubled over, clutching his sides.

Angel Dust: "Oh my Satan, that's the funniest thing I've heard in ages!"

Even Husk couldn't suppress a chuckle, shaking his head in disbelief.

Husk: "Kid, you’ve got quite the imagination"

Ben’s confident expression faltered slightly, but he stood his ground.

Ben: "It’s true! I’ve faced countless villains and saved the world more times than I can count"

Vaggie, still skeptical, raised an eyebrow.

Vaggie: "Do you really expect us to believe such a ridiculous lie?"

Ben: "No, no, it's true if you just let m-"

Vaggie cut him off, pushing him back onto the couch before advancing towards him.

Vaggie: "No, let me say what's actually happening!"

She snarled, her voice dripping with venom.

Vaggie: "You're just a nobody using Charlie's kindness to stay for free in her hotel! And we already have enough bums laying around here"

She turned her gaze toward Angel Dust, making him gasp.

Angel Dust: "Hey! I don't even understand why we're doing all this investigation bullshit. I mean,  he may be a little schizo but he did kick Pentious's ass and was nice to us. Isn't that enough for him to stay?"

Vaggie spun back to Ben, her eyes blazing with anger.

Vaggie: "First of all, this is a rehabilitation center, not a homeless shelter! We're not just letting anyone waltz in and make it their home. Second of all, he betrayed our trust! Who knows how long he would've hidden that he's just a normal sinner in disguise!"

Ben tried to interject, raising his hands defensively, trying to calm Vaggie down.

Ben: "I'm not just a normal sinner. I'm telling the truth. I'm a human and a hero!"

Charlie stepped forward, placing a hand on Vaggie's shoulder.

Charlie: "Vaggie, I understand your concerns, but I believe Ben. We've all seen what he can do. We need to give him a chance"

Vaggie rolled her eyes, throwing her hands in the air.

Vaggie: "Big surprise, he can absorb energy! I can make a spear appear out of thin air, doesn't mean I'm some kind of hero!"

Alastor, watching the exchange with amusement, chuckled.

Alastor: "Ah, secrets and trust. They make everything so delightfully complicated"

Alastor advanced slowly toward Vaggie, his demeanor calm and collected.

Alastor: "Dear Vagatha, why don't we let Ben talk? I bet we can understand more of his reasons"

Vaggie peered at Alastor, suspicion in her eyes.

Vaggie: "Since when do you care? What’s your game?"

Alastor chuckled slightly, his grin widening.

Alastor: "What plan, dear? I'm just voicing what everyone here is thinking, no?"

They both turned to the crew. Vaggie watched as they nodded slowly.

Niffty: "I want to know his bad boy secrets~"

Husk: "I'm not usually interested, but this kid does pique my curiosity"

Angel Dust: "Yeah, I really want to hear what's actually going on"

Vaggie then turned to Charlie, who gave her a small, reassuring smile.

Charlie: "Remember, he saved me. If he wanted to harm me, he would have let me get hit. So please, hear him out"

Vaggie sighed, her grip on her spear loosening slightly.

Vaggie: "Fine. Ben, you have the floor. But make it good"

Ben took a deep breath, preparing to explain his story, feeling the weight of their expectations on his shoulders. He glanced around, noticing the mix of skepticism and curiosity on their faces.

As Ben started to speak, everyone leaned in, curiosity etched on their faces.

Ben: "As I said earlier, I'm actually a human, and that creature you saw me turn into back then isn't a demon but an alien"

Everyone looked surprised. Ben lifted a brow in confusion, expecting them to know about that since they must've heard of Bellwood if they were human once.

Ben: "Yeah, aliens, like the ones living in Undertown? Are you guys living under a rock or what?"

Ben chuckled, but his laughter quickly died down after seeing their serious expressions. He rubbed the back of his neck awkwardly.

Ben: "Come on, guys. The Incursion invasion doesn't ring any bells? The one that happened a few years back?"

He said with wide eyes, but everyone just shook their heads. Finally, Alastor, with an eerie smile, spoke up.

Alastor: "Actually, dear, I perished long before such events occurred. Although it seems like the future is more chaotic than I thought"

Ben nodded slowly, realization dawning on him.

Ben: "Oh, right. I guess a lot has changed since you all... um, passed. But don't worry, I defeated them and sent them away from Earth, no need to thank me"

Vaggie stepped closer, her eye narrowed in suspicion.

Vaggie: "So what are we supposed to get from this? You're some kind of half-human, alien hybrid superhero that beat aliens? Do you hear yourself?"

Husk rubbed his chin.

Husk: "Sounds like something you'll make on shrooms"

Ben sighed, his shoulders slumping slightly.

Ben: "I'm not a hybrid! I can just turn into them! it's true and I can prove it"

Vaggie took a step back, crossing her arms with a smirk playing on her lips. She thought to herself that Ben was probably just improvising, spinning a story as he went along. But then, as a thought struck her, she realized that if Ben could actually transform into aliens, and it wasn’t just some demon trick, he should be able to demonstrate it with a different creature.

Vaggie: "Alright then, hero. Show us one of your other aliens. If you can transform into a bunch of them, this should be easy, right?"

Vaggie expected him to stutter or falter, but to her surprise, Ben nodded with a determined look.

Ben: "That's easy enough"

He stepped back, raising his arm and revealing the Omnitrix.

Angel Dust, leaning in with curiosity, called out.

Angel Dust: "Hey! It's your glowing watch!"

Husk looked puzzled and turned to Angel Dust.

Husk: "His what?"

Angel Dust grinned, pointing at Ben’s arm.

Angel Dust: "Yeah, when he touches it, it glows this beautiful green light"

Husk’s confusion deepened as he turned back to Ben.

Husk: "But what does that have to do with turning into aliens?"

Ben, still focused, gave a reassuring nod.

Ben: "Watch and learn"

With practiced ease, Ben held two fingers above the Omnitrix interface. A small green holographic circle materialized above the watch, displaying the faces of various aliens, each with their own distinct features.

The crew watched in awe as the holographic display cycled through different alien heads. Each one was unique, showcasing a range of powers and abilities—from a useless near-undestructible yellow blob to rock Jesus and even a figure resembling a deity. The display highlighted their faces, leaving the crew stunned.

Charlie leaned in, eyes wide.

Chalrie: "Whoa, so many of them! Can you really turn into all these guys?"

Ben smiled, nodding.

Ben: "Yep, each one has its own special powers. Just pick one, and I can show you what they can do"

Niffty clapped excitedly, darting towards Ben and jumping onto his back, her arms draping around his neck for support as she peered eagerly at the array of alien heads displayed on the Omnitrix.

Niffty: "Ooh, so many choices! Can I pick one? Please!"

Ben chuckled at her enthusiasm, nodding in agreement.

Ben: "Sure thing, Niffty. Go ahead and choose"

Niffty’s eyes danced with excitement as she scanned the holographic display. After a moment’s contemplation, she pointed at one of the icons with a mischievous grin.

Niffty: "Turn into that one! He looks super creepy!"

Ben smirked at her choice.

Ben: "Alright, you got it"

Niffty bounced down, stepping back to join the rest of the crew as Ben dialed the watch. The holographic display cycled through various alien forms before stopping on Niffty's selection. Ben’s fingers hovered over the interface, the watch glowing brightly as the core image appeared, he slammed it, enveloping him in a bright green light.

Ben’s body expanded, muscles rippling as his skin shifted from a yellowish hue to a tan shade, with his chest and the underside of his arms maintaining a lighter color. His hair retracted into his head, the follicles closing up, leaving no trace of his previous hairstyle. His eyes turned green, then were enveloped by the merging skin, replaced by large, elastic bat-like ears.

Green cuffs materialized around his arms, his hands then transformed, sprouting into clawed fingers. His cargo pants shifted into sleek black trousers, also adorned with green cuffs, while his feet morphed into three-clawed feet. A green belt with a white stripe appeared around his waist, the Omnitrix securely placed in the center.

Finally, multiple green eyes emerged in random spots across his body, except for his chest, as he transformed into...

EyeGuy: "EyeGuy!"

EyeGuy declared in a raspy voice as the light faded, striking a final pose. His green eyes blinked and darted around the amazed demons.

EyeGuy: "See? Eye-wasn’t lying. You can see with your own eyes!"

Vaggie’s jaw dropped in astonishment. She stared, her skepticism faltering as she watched the supposed demon actually prove his ability to transform into different aliens. The sight made her doubt the initial impression she had of Ben, his genuine aura challenging her previous assumptions.

Alastor regarded EyeGuy with a mixture of intrigue and malice, tapping his fingers rhythmically on his cane. His eyes, gleaming with curiosity, betrayed his intense interest in the powerful device that had transformed Ben.

Niffty clapped her hands excitedly, her eye sparkling with curiosity as she circled around EyeGuy, each of his eyes following her movements.

Niffty: "Wow, so many eyes!"

She paused and grinned mischievously, extending a finger to poke one of the eyes. EyeGuy recoiled slightly, his voice a mix of annoyance and embarrassment.

EyeGuy: "Hey! No poking my eyes!"

All of EyeGuy’s eyes sprouted eyelids simultaneously and glared at Niffty, causing her to lower her head slightly in apology.

Niffty: "Sorry…"

Husk smirked, tilting his head in amusement.

Husk: "So Ben wasn’t lying. He can actually transform into aliens. This hotel just keeps getting weirder and weirder"

Angel Dust nodded, a knowing look in his eyes.

Angel Dust: "Honestly, I knew he wasn’t lying. I’ve dealt with my fair share of deceivers, so I can usually spot when someone’s trying to pull one over on me"

Vaggie, still skeptical, whispered to herself.

Vaggie: "I’m not convinced…"

Charlie, who had been standing close by, heard her and lifted a brow in confusion.

Charlie: "You’re not? But I thought he already proved his point"

Vaggie’s eyes widened as she realized Charlie had overheard her.

Vaggie: "I know, it’s just… it’s so bizarre. It’s hard to believe"

Charlie took a deep breath, her eyes earnest.

Charlie: "I know, it’s weird- borderline crazy to believe. But you’ve seen what he can do. I’m confident he isn’t here with ill intentions. Just give him a chance, please. For me?"

Charlie looked up at Vaggie with wide, pleading eyes, her expression softening as she gave her the most convincing puppy eyes she could muster.

Vaggie hesitated, her resolve wavering under Charlie’s earnest gaze.

Vaggie: "Alright, Charlie. I’ll give him a chance…"

Charlie’s face lit up with relief and gratitude.

Niffty bounced over to EyeGuy, her eye sparkling with curiosity.

Niffty: "Hey, EyeGuy! Can you transform into something else? I wanna see more of your aliens!"

EyeGuy tilted his head, his various eyes blinking in unison.

EyeGuy: "Uh, sure, I’ll give it a shot. Just keep your eye peeled!"

Alastor’s grin widened, clearly amused by the spectacle and intrigued by the powerful device. He watched with keen interest as EyeGuy slammed his hand on the Omnitrix, enveloping himself in a burst of green light.

As the green light flared, Angel Dust squinted and shielded his eyes with his hand, his irritation growing.

Angel Dust: "Does he need to burn our eyes every time he transforms? Seriously, it’s like a flashbang!"

Husk, rolling his eyes, responded with a deadpan tone.

Husk: "Do you really want to see what kind of fucked-up metamorphosis is happening underneath? I’m good without that nightmare fuel"

Angel Dust sighed in exasperation.

Angel Dust: "Alright, alright, fine, it's just annoying"

EyeGuy’s form began to shift, his physique growing slightly taller and leaner. His entire body erupted into flames, starting from his head. His skin hardened before turning into reddish-brown volcanic rock, with cracks forming across his body, revealing searing plasma underneath. The heat was intense, causing the eyes scattered around his body to burn into nothingness.

His face, once with bat-like ears, became a mask-like visage with hollow eye sockets and a disconnected lower jaw. His exposed plasma hands expanded slightly, with his wrists becoming bridged by molten rock. The flames around his body dimmed except for the aura of fiery hair that covered his head.

His clawed feet merged, the toes becoming oval-shaped. The Omnitrix faceplate shifted from his hips to his chest.

With a final burst of heat and light, he transformed into...

HeatBlast: "HeatBlast!"

HeatBlast declared proudly, his voice carrying a confident tone.

HeatBlast: "I call him HeatBlast, one of my favorites. He’s great for ranged attacks and, of course, roasting marshmallows"

With a playful grin, he conjured a small fireball, juggling it effortlessly in the air. After a few spins, he closed his hand around it, making the fireball vanish with a flourish.

Niffty clapped enthusiastically, her eye sparkling with excitement.

Niffty: "Wow, we can burn so many demons now! That’s amazing!"

HeatBlast chuckled awkwardly at the enthusiasm, not quite sure how to respond.

HeatBlast: "Yeah, well, I wouldn’t use it for that. More like... practical uses, you know?"

Husk, meanwhile, let out a long yawn, stretching his arms.

Husk: "That was pretty cool, but I guess the novelty’s worn off for me. I’m heading to the bar to drown my sorrows"

With that, Husk shuffled off towards the hotel bar, leaving the others behind as he sought solace in a drink.

Alastor, ever observant, interjected with a measured compliment.

Alastor: "Impressive! Even extraordinary!"

HeatBlast, acknowledging the rare praise from Alastor, replied simply.

HeatBlast: "Thanks, man"

HeatBlast smirked while glancing at Alastor, now eye-level with him in this form.

Alastor, eyes gleaming with curiosity, asked.

Alastor: "Say, dear Benjamin, how many forms do you have in your little magic watch?"

HeatBlast: "1,000,912, but for now, I can only use 70"

The room erupted in astonished disbelief.

Everyone: "1,000,912!!!"

They stared at HeatBlast with a mix of awe and skepticism, their minds reeling from the sheer magnitude of his claim. The tension in the room eased slightly as they tried to process this new information.

HeatBlast, still nonchalant, looked around with a casual shrug.

HeatBlast: "Uh, is something wrong? It’s not like it’s a big deal"

Chalrie blinked in disbelief, her excitement wavering.

Chalrie: "Wait, you’re telling us you can turn into almost anything you want? That’s insane!"

Angel Dust, trying to keep his composure, let out a low whistle.

Angel Dust: "Yeah, if I had a power like that, I’d never be bored again"

Alastor’s eyes twinkled with a mixture of amusement and awe

Alastor: "Oh, dear Benjamin, you must have had quite the assortment of enemies trying to steal such a powerful artifact from you"

HeatBlast let out a weary sigh, clearly tired of the constant questions and admiration.

HeatBlast: "More than I could count, dude"

HeatBlast slammed the faceplate on his chest. A bright green light erupted around him, enveloping him. The light intensified for a moment, casting a vivid glow over everyone in the room.

As the light finally dimmed, HeatBlast had transformed back into his human form-now appearing slightly more worn from the intense display.

Charlie smiled warmly, motioning towards Niffty.

Charlie: "I believe our guests must be weary. Niffty, would you be so kind as to show him to room 10?"

Niffty, bouncing on her heels with excitement, nodded enthusiastically and waved Ben to follow her down the hallway.

Angel Dust leaned back, casually crossing his arms.

Angel Dust: "Why don’t you just crash in my room instead?"

Ben, eyebrows raised in confusion, looked over at Angel Dust, his face reddening.

Ben: "So I don’t get my butthole expanded?"

Angel Dust smirked, leaning forward with a mischievous glint in his eye.

Angel Dust: "That’s a good point"

Ben’s eyes widened, his expression shifting to one of shock.

Ben: "What!"

Angel Dust chuckled, waving his hand dismissively.

Angel Dust: "Just kidding, I always ask for consent before sex...I think!"

As Ben departed with Niffty to the staircase, Charlie approached Vaggie, who was standing near the lobby with a thoughtful expression.

Charlie: "So, what do you think of our new guest?"

Vaggie raised an eyebrow, her gaze distant.

Vaggie: "So what?"

Charlie: "What do you think of him? Are you warming up to Ben?"

Vaggie sighed heavily, crossing her arms as she looked away.

Vaggie: "Look, Charlie, even though he seems like a nice guy, I don’t trust him completely. He’s powerful and seems too coincidental. What if he’s just here to manipulate us into ruining the hotel?"

Charlie placed a reassuring hand on Vaggie’s shoulder, her eyes softening with empathy.

Charlie: "Vaggie, I understand you’ve been through a lot, but not everyone is out to get us. Ben helped us defeat Sir Pentious. He’s done good by us"

Vaggie hesitated, her skepticism clashing with Charlie's trust.

Vaggie: "Maybe you’re right, but I still have my doubts"

Meanwhile, as the two went to the second floor, Niffty led Ben down the hallway with a cheerful bounce.

Niffty: "Right this way, Mr. Ben. Your room is just around the corner!"

They arrived at door number 10. Niffty handed Ben the key with a bright, eager smile.

Niffty: "Here you go! I hope you find everything to your liking"

Ben unlocked the door and stepped inside. The room was cozy and inviting, with warm lighting and tasteful decor that made it feel homely. He turned back to Niffty, his smile genuine.

Ben: "This is perfect. Thank you, Niffty"

Niffty’s eye sparkled with delight.

Niffty: "I’m glad you like it! Bye now!"

With a wave, Niffty turned and skipped down the hallway, leaving Ben to settle into his new room.
