Chapter Three

Percy walked down the halls, hoping she wouldn't get lost. She didn't know what the time was, she only knew it was morning and probably around breakfast time. Percy wore a shirt and a pair of jeans. She refused to wear one of those Atlantean outfits unless it was necessary.

Thankfully she was able to make it to the dining room without getting lost. It was almost a miracle, the walls were long and very similar.

Everyone else was waiting for her there, but she hadn't expected otherwise. Just because she made it there didn't mean she did it as quickly as she wished.

She gave them a slight smile and sat down at the empty seat. While the others ate ambrosia and drank nectar she stuck with some blue waffles.

Triton and Amphitrite were amused at her choice of food but Poseidon has expected nothing less.

"Percy, I've contacted the academy," Amphitrite said.

Percy looked up from her plate and gave a quick nod. "Thanks."

"No problem, sweetie," Amphitrite said sweetly.

Percy was surprised at how kind Amphitrite was to her. She was the result of her husbands betrayal, yet she was treating her as one of her own. Triton was kind too, kinder than she'd expected. She was really grateful for this fact, it would be rather hard living with a family where the majority of the family didn't even like you.

"They said you'd be able to start at the beginning of the school year," Amphitrite informed. "Which is in... around a week!"

"A week?" Percy asked.

"Yes, atlantean schools start a bit earlier than mortal schools," Triton explained.

Percy nodded and stuffed a waffle into her mouth.

——

A week had passed since then and now she stood outside of the Academy in atlantean clothing. She stood in a crowd of atlanteans, most of them her age.

Beside her stood a rather tall dark skinned boy. His hair was blond, but it was short. Buzzcut short. His green-gray eyes were focused on the girl he was talking to.

Percy found him rather handsome, she tore her eyes away from him before it became anything more.

Later that day the girl he was talking to introduced herself to Percy. Apparently her name was Tula.

"Percy?" Tula asked. "That's a unique name."

Percy smiled. "Tula is too."

Tula burst into laughter at her comment. "I wish it was, but no. Tula's not a rare or unique name."

Percy felt her face warm up, meaning a blush was spreading across her face. "Oh-"

"You're new here, aren't you?" Tula asked and Percy was glad she changed the subject.

"Yeah, I am," Percy responded.

"Then consider me your first friend here! Want to sit with me at lunch. My other two friends will be there too," Tula offered.

"Thanks, that would be.. good," Percy thanked.

"No problem," Tula said.

It surprised how similar yet different the school was compared to "mortal schools" classes (although more power and magic related), social groups, lockers, even the cafeteria system (but of course they never served fish).

She sat down beside Tula, and two other guys. The dark skinned guy from before, and a black haired, pale skinned teenager.

"Percy! This is Kaldur and Garth. Garth and Kaldur, this is Percy," Tula said, introducing the three teenagers to each other.

(The atlantean population know her as Persephone, and they don't know what she looks like for story reasons. So they don't know who she really is)

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Percy," Kaldur said. His voice was calm, and he sounded rather formal in his way of speech.

"Yeah, nice to meet you," Garth said. He wasn't nearly as formal as Kaldur, but he seemed like a nice guy.

"Nice to meet you guys too," Percy said.

Kaldurs eyebrows furrowed. "Guys?"

"It's modern slang, bro!" Garth said. Definitely less formal.

Kaldurs eye brows relaxed and went back to their previous positions.

Garth laughed at his friend and gave him a pat on the back. "You really need to learn this type of stuff!"

Kaldurs eyebrows almost furrowed again but it was merely just a twitch. Percy wondered what word was confusing him now, probably stuff.

"I don't see the necessity of it," he said.

"You will later!" Garth exclaimed, laughed and stuffed food into his mouth.

Tula shook her head at her two friends and Percy noticed a light blush on her cheeks. Percy smiled to herself, but wondered how Garth's stuffing-a-lot-of-food-in-his-mouthing had her blushing. Or maybe it was just the conversation. But Percy was leaning towards the eating option.

After the day was over Percy decided to confront her about it.

"So, you and Garth?" Percy asked when she was alone with Tula.

"Wha- no!" Tula said. "We're just friends."

Percy rolled her eyes. "C'mon Tula, you totally have a crush on him."

And in that moment it was like they'd been friends for so much longer than a simple school day. Maybe something in their friendship had just clicked.

Tula looked down, blushing. Then she looked up at Percy. "Yes, I do."

Percy's emotions were split. Excitement for Tula, and excitement for herself. She was happy for Tula and Kaldur weren't together, which meant she kinda had a chance with him. If she wanted. She wasn't a big romance person. What happens will happen.

She was also excited and happy for Tula, and since she was related to the literal goddess of love she sure as Hades was going to help them get together.
