Chapter Five

I do not own the characters

The days passed and Percy's plot evolved - but she knew she needed a partner. Kind of like a partner in crime, except there wasn't any crime involved. And she knew just who to ask. Someone who cared for Garth and Tula. Someone with at least a bit of common sense to keep her from epically screwing up. And she knew just who that person was.

"Kaldur!" Percy called. "Hey! Wait for me?"

Kaldur stopped walking and simply turned around to see Percy running to keep up with him.

"Do you need help with anything?" Kaldur asked, wondering why she'd stopped him.

"Yeah, kinda. Garth and Tula are totally crushing on each other and I need your help to help me get them together. If you know what I mean?"

"You want me to help you set Garth and Tula up?" Kaldur asked, tilting his head slightly.

"Yup! Exactly!" Percy exclaimed.

Kaldur didn't understand Percy, and knew he probably never would. She was strange. One day he was comforting as she cried and said a single phrase over and over and now she wanted him to help her set his two best friends up... for a romantic relationship?

Maybe she was only of those people no one would ever truly understand.

"I will help you, friend," Kaldur said. At the very last word he felt something ache in his chest. Nothing big, but just noticeable. Friend. That's what they were. Kaldur wished they were more. More than a friend or comrade.

But he'd just have to wait. They didn't even know each other that well. He'd have to see where fate and time took them. All he could do right now was hope and pray.

Was it just his imagination or did her smile falter slightly as the last word was spoken? He dearly hoped it wasn't just imagination, but it probably was. Why would a girl such as Percy like a boy like him?

"Good. Now I have someone to stop me from doing anything totally and utterly stupid," Percy smirked.

"Well, Percy, how do you set someone up?" Kaldur asked.

"That's what we're gonna work out together," Percy explained.

Together.

The word echoed through Kaldurs mind. How had he fallen so easily? So quickly? They'd only known each other for a month now - but yet he had already fallen for her so deeply. And he was only falling harder and harder for her. It was like the deep ocean they lived in. You only sunk deeper if you didn't try to swim up. And even if you did, you'd never make it to the surface again. He didn't even want to try. He was just sinking deeper and deeper. But he had nothing against it. He actually liked it. Enjoyed it. He was sinking deeper and deeper in a bottomless ocean with a smile on his face.

"Any ideas, Kaldur?" Percy asked. "Cause I have no idea."

"There is  a dance coming up soon. We could try to get them to go together?" Kaldur suggested.

"There is?" Percy smiled. "Perfect!"

"Yes," Kaldur said. "In approximately seven weeks. I think the school is handing information about it in two weeks."

"Okay," Percy said. "There's a school dance. How do we get them to go together?"

"We could simply convince the two of them to confess their feelings for one another?" Kaldur suggested.

"That could work... but that's boring!" Percy said. "We need flair and drama!"

This must've been how the Gods thought about demigod quests, Percy thought to herself. But this wasn't some potentially life-threatening quest. It was a plan to get two people who obviously had feelings for each other to get together. In this situation flair and drama was natural.

"Flair and drama?" Kaldur asked.

"Yeah," Percy said. "Flair and drama."

"Well, if it is so, Percy, what do you propose we do?" Kaldur asked.

"We got to start some where, don't we? Um, why don't we just plan a sleepover between the four of us, play truth or dare and make them do some dare that ignites their feelings so much they confess to each other?" Percy suggested.

"Sleepover? Truth or Dare?" Kaldur questioned and Percy came to the conclusion that he didn't know what the two phrases meant. Maybe they didn't play truth or dare here, and maybe they had some other word for sleepovers.

"A sleepover... is when you sleep over at some one else's house and Truth or Dare is a game," Percy said and continued to explain the fairly simple game to her atlantean friend. It thankfully didn't take too much of an explanation to get Kaldur to understand what the two things were. He understood what a sleepover was almost immediately, but it took a bit longer to explain what Truth or Dare was. Once Kaldur understood what she was suggesting, they agreed on it and decided they'd start planning the sleepover itself after school was over when they'd go home to Kaldur to both plan and study. It was school after all and they had a test soon. Percy didn't want to study (who would?) but Kaldur made her agree to it.

School carried on and Percy wondered why she agreed to start going to this school to start with.
