Epilogue

~XX Days later~

You huff loudly as you follow the girl, carrying a heavy bag on your back as you trek up the steep hill, mouthing curse words all the way.

"Oh c'mon twerp," the girl smiles wide while walking backwards, showing off as well, "not that far tuh go now." She lies.

You groan loudly as you continue, it's dark as shit outside, early in the morning and you're more or less in the middle of the forest. You asked often why you're there in the first place but she wouldn't say, hell it wasn't even like you trusted her either, she forced you to come. You fight against the clinging branches, this scene feels oddly familiar to you.

"Aight, we can stop now." The girl says.

You have just entered a clearing when she says so, a pile of wood in the very middle and several arcs of stone at the border, they look like doorways. You fall to your knees huffing and puffing, sweat dripping down your face, you curse even more seeing how unaffected she is.

"Stop cursing unda yuh breath boy," she says turning to you, "if ya got sumting ta say say it ta mah face, my back ain't a answering machine. Plus cursing ain't your ting anyway." She waves her hand dismissively.

*When you stand you ask again why you're here.

"You got de stuff right?" She looks around suspiciously, what is this, drug smuggling?

You nod, remembering to put everything in the bag before she rushed you outside.

"Good good, wait here while I get everything ready. And don't leave or I'll drag you back here by yuh hair, yuh hair cuh pass fuh Remi and I cuh get a good pay." She says with a smile, walking off to the forest.

You huff as you sit cross legged on the ground, still grumbling under your breath. The distant calls of the wildlife and the whistling of the wind through the trees can be heard, bringing a calming atmosphere to the campsite. A while later the girl comes back, whistling a song to herself as she walks to the fire, she's emptying some things out her pockets, they appear to be random knick knacks, and into the fire. Every time one of them hits the fire it turns a different color and flairs up, you stare in awe every time something is thrown in, what the hell are those? After she empties her pockets she huffs in approval, the fire a dull grey now, and walks back to where you're sitting.

"C'mon, let's get this ova wid." She helps you to stand and walks you back to the fire.

You have no idea what you have to do.

"Do ya know what you were going ta do with de stuff afta yuh bring it up from de Underground?" You give a half nod, you wanted to bring them back with you but you didn't exactly know what you were going to do with them afterwards, bury them maybe? Let them see up top one last time? "Well take them out fuh me, we gine do this t'night and now before de sun comes up."

*You ask why can't they do it with the sun is up.

"Den de ritual ain't gine work."

Ritual?

"Juss get de things out, will ya?" She says impatiently, "I wanna get sleep too yuh know."

You glare at her lightly before dumping the contents of the bag on the ground.

The Faded Ribbon and Toy Knife.

The Manly Bandana and Boxing Glove.

The Ballet Shoes and Old Tutu.

The Clouded Glasses and Torn Notebook.

The Burnt Pan and Stained Apron

The Empty Gun and Cowboy Hat.

The Worn Dagger and the Sharp Knife.

She looks them over as if to make sure nothing's missing, she nods in approval before picking them up in pairs. She first takes up the Faded Ribbon and the Toy Knife, whispering unintelligible things too herself before throwing them in the fire. The fire turns a light blue, crackling with more life as the items burn to dust, your eyes open wide as you see a faded figure form out of fire, it's the same color too. It looks kind of like a ghost(?). A girl forms, wearing the same ribbon and grasping the knife timidly, she couldn't have been more than 15, she's also wearing a dress that looks like Toriel's tunic. She has no feet though, from her waist down is meshed into a 'tail'.

She sees you and tilts her head to the side, she moves a little closer to you, a small smile forming on her face, she reaches out to touch your hair but her hand fazes through your head. She doesn't seem to mind though for she still plays with your head. It feels weird but cool at the same time, like when Napastablook tries to hug you. The other girl smiles softly in the background at you two, throwing the Manly Bandana and Boxing Glove in the fire. The girl gasps softly and jolts, you and her look back and see she's detached from the fire, having free movement from it, she's confused but seems relieved. The fire turns orange now, another figure forming.

This time it's a young man, he's in a vest and has the gloves on his hands and the bandana tied around his forehead, he's hyper and makes jabbing motions until he sees you three. He smiles seeing the blue girl, showing a large gap in his teeth as he rubs the top of his head, the girl blushes seeing the boy smile and hides behind you. He floats up to you until he's face to face with you and glares, you aren't really intimidated by him though. You smile proudly and blow in his face, he snorts and rubs his face in disgust, he goes to punch you in the face but the blue girl jumps out in front of you with her arms stretched at her sides.

The orange boy stops and looks at her in shock, she then floats to him and whispers something in his ear. He looks to you in realization when she pulls away and smiles in embarrassment with a small blush. He looks cute with the gap in his teeth. He holds out his hand to you and you reluctantly shake it, it's hard since your hand couldn't hold on to the interaction properly but you manage.

The other girl throws in another set of items into the fire, this time turning a dark blue, and the boy detaches.

Another girl comes out, she's wearing the Old Tutu and Ballet Shoes. She looks a little older than Light Blue, when she sees her she dashes to her and catches her in a hug, smiling happily and they both hug each other tight. Orange looks to them curiously, like he's never seen them do that before, Dark Blue then sees Orange and stops hugging, looking at Light Blue slyly. She then starts to tease them both but she says no words. Another color appears in the fire, and the girl detaches.

Another girl forms, this time purple, she's wearing thick rounded glasses and has a notebook in her hand, her hair's in a short ponytail and she has a sweater on. She looks at the others playing in disgust and floats to where you're sitting and 'sits' beside you, looking bored and antisocial. You feel very awkward sitting next to her. She detaches soon after, the fire turning green.

A boy appears wearing the Stained Apron and having the Burnt pan in his hand, he's also wearing a chef's hat and has smudges on his face and clothes. The first three smile seeing him and he smiles as well, giving a group hug while Purple reads her book to herself. He too detaches and the fire turns yellow.

Another boy appears, wearing the Cowboy Hat low over his face, a poncho and having the gun in a holster on his belt, he looks to be the oldest of them all. Unlike the others he's calm and collected, the others cheer silently and float around him while he just gives small smiles, he glances up and sees Purple deep in the notebook, seemly hiding her face from him. You raise your brow at her, is she embarrassed? The boy floats to where she is and sits next to her, she's shaking a little on her seat, either she's scared, or. . .

You see the others giggling and whispering to themselves slyly, you catch on to what's happening. She likes him (a lot) and he probably likes her too. Aawwwwww!!!!!! XD

The fire crackles again, bringing the attention of all of you to it, it's bigger and has the purest white color you've ever seen, the figure that comes out looks so familiar to you but you can't place why (not yet anyway). You can't tell what gender they are though, their hair is short and covers their eyes, and the Worn Dagger is in their hand. They're way shorter and younger than the others, they grip the Dagger to their chest as they look to the other ghosts in fear, they look so scared.

"It's okay," the human girl says calmly to the them, "you're alright. There's nothing ta be afraid of."

She continues to talk to them until they finally calm down, moving their hands in sign language and her nodding and talking with them. After a while you notice all the other ghost are in a small group together, even the antisocial purple one, and the white ghost's floating over to you. They sit in front of you with a small puff of wind as the grass moves. They look at you and give a wide smile, pushing their hair back and showing light brown eyes. A memory flashes back to you, a small child in the sweater like the one you're wearing now, they're at the stove staring blankly at the fire that engulfs the pot there, Papyrus and Undyne are pounding tomatoes into paste while Sans watches in the background, leaning on the counter with a wide grin on his face. The child then looks to you and smiles wide, running to you and jumping in your arms. A name floating above their head.

Frisk.

You then smile at them, further seeing the memory and any other events you had with them, Frisk smiles seeing you remember and goes to hug you, surprisingly they don't faze through you like Light Blue did, and you hug them back. They smell like buttercups.

Since when do ghosts have a smell?

"Frisk?" The human says, bringing both your attentions to her, "I'm gonna have ta let out de other one too," she says, gripping the Sharp Knife firmly in her hand, "and I'll need you to protect him from that bitch, kay?"

Frisk nods, a look of determination in their eyes.

"And I need you ta stay calm." She says to you.

*You ask why would needed to stay calm.

"Cause you gine hate dis bitch just like everyone else that know em. . .and who read this book. . .or played the game. . .point is you'll hate em. If you forget em well you'll remember later." You're confused but you agree.

She sighs and turns back to the white fire, throwing the Knife inside. The fire pulses and grows larger than the others, several feet taller, a burning red color glowing from the bright mass. The fire dies down some, another figure appears, slightly bigger than Frisk. They're wearing the same clothes too, Sharp Knife firmly grasped in their hand, and eyes as black as coal and seem to have black tears, they looked like a demon coming straight from hell. They glance at the other ghosts that are huddled away from you three, then at you and Frisk, a sadistic smile creeps on their face as they lunge forward. You're about to counter but Frisk blocks their attack, the red ghost looks surprised then angry and lunges at them. You feel a memory creeping up but you force it down, like hell you wanted to experience something about the red ghost, you have no idea who they are but you're damn sure you didn't want to find out. Not now.

"I see you guys have become acquainted," the human smiles, ignoring the fight between Frisk and the red ghost, "never thought you'd see em again huh?" You look at her in confusion, "hey, stop pushing down dem memories, it bad fuh yuh health, and yuh mind, you gine go insane. I did dat so many times and look what happened ta me, I'm completely bonkers!" She laughs heartily but you don't see it as a laughing matter, "but seriously though, stop dat. Some important points ta de plot are in dem memories, and the readers will miss out, " she winks, "but anyway, we done wid dat that, it's time ta set dese guys free."

Set who free?

She whistles loudly and gets everyone's attention, "aight peoples! If yuh here as a ghost dah means dat yuh stuff get burn and yuh free from de trinkets yuh leff behind so you cuh go ta heaven now."

The others (except Chara and Frisk) look to her dumbfounded, like they didn't notice. They start to disintegrate into tiny star like sparkles in their ghost state, everyone's amazed by what's happening, then they finally realize it. They actually are free. They happily swarm around you, making a weird but bubbly feeling in your soul.

"Thank you," Light Blue says, "for setting us free, for setting the monsters free. You didn't have to but you did. Thank you so much."

"Yeah, thanks a lot," Orange says, "and if anyone bothers ya just remember to give them the ol' one-two." He says making punching movements.

"Always keep your head high and stay on your feet, no matter what happens." Dark Blue says.

". . .don't be afraid of any puzzle that may come across your way. . .the answer may be easier than you think." Purple says timidly.

"Learn from every mistake and don't give up. Your failures are what encourages you to succeed." Green says with a large smile.

"Keep an eye on your loved ones and protect them no matter what," Yellow says, "friends come and go but family is gone forever once you lose it."

And with that they burst into sparkles, floating up into the atmosphere. You feel your eyes well up as you stare at the night sky, their sparkles mixing into the millions of stars up top. When you look down, the girl looks like she's about to cry too, Frisk couldn't stop smiling and the red ghost looks irritated.

"Now there's one more ting we need ta burn," she's says, but how was that possible? You burned everything in the bag, "you won't want ta but yuh have ta. Throw you necklace into fe fire, de bear claw one."

Hell no!!! You refuse, gripping said necklace through your shirt.

"It's the only kind of closure you gine get, fam. You think I want you to burn it? That de only ting you got leff of you parents for crying out loud, but you gotta. Don't you want them ta be happy?" She says with sincerity.

You ponder on her words, is this really the only way to make them happy, does that mean they have unfinished business and can't move on too? You sigh after mentally debating with yourself, should you really destroy the only thing you have from them, the only present you got from them? You feel frustration inside of you as you hold onto the claw, tugging it harshly and popping the thread, you quickly throw it into the fire, wanting to get it over with before you feel the regret. The fire swirls and swirls, forming into a chilling blue and fiery orange, then two figures form out of it, you can feel your soul beat wildly in your chest, anxious for the more familiar ones to hurry up and form.

A blue cat and an orange lizard forms, you instantly know who they are.

"Son?" The cat asks, "is that you?"

Tears fall out of your eyes like a broken dam, smiling as wide as ever.

"Y/N!!!!" The lizard yells as he quickly floats towards, tackling you down to the ground laughing.

"Hey!! You said I could do that!" The cat yells before joining into the tackle-hug.

"You're even more adorable than I thought." The cat woman says.

You shyly reach out to them, holding their faces in your hands, they both hold onto your hands while she purrs deeply, you feel a longing in your soul, like a reunion is due. The memory from when you're a baby comes into your head, confirming your previous assumption. A flash of realization flickers in your eyes as you smile wide once again, they too smile wide. All three of you start to cry as you bring your foreheads together, all three of your souls resonating with each other.

"Oh Asgore, I missed you so much."

"You've grown so big."

No words can express how happy you felt, hell you can't even sign properly in your frantic state, but you don't care. You got to see your parents, even if it would be the last time you see them again. You then feel their weight shift (somehow they had some) and a small gasp, you look down and see them starting to disappear at the tails. Oh no.

"Are you serious?! I can't even stay with my son for a little longer?!" Your mom yells to the sky.

"Hey! If you knew how long dis chapter would get if we let everyone be happy we would be here forever." The girl retorts.

"But we haven't seen him from since he was a baby." Your dad whines.

The girl then shrugs and looks away, mumbling something under her breath.

You all start to cry again, not wanting to leave each other so soon, their fading is up to their chest now. Your mom kisses your forehead while your dad kisses the side of your head, hugging you once more as if that could keep them there longer.

"Stay a good boy for daddy okay? I wouldn't want you to meet us sooner than you have to, and keep your boyfriend safe too." He chuckles lightly.

"And take care of your uncle will ya? He'll need some help in the future, especially with that skeleton fellow." She smiles wide.

"Hey, don't ruin the future plot!" The girl yells.

They start to fade even more, your mom starts to kiss your face more but you don't mind.

"Keep safe son, and behave yourself."

"And even though we're not there physically just remember we're always keeping an eye on ya."

Then they turn to stars with big smiles on their faces, their orange and blue sparks mixing in with the white stars above, your face is wet and warm with tears but you don't care. You feel relieved that you got to see your parents once more, even if it was in an unconventional way, you see Frisk on the side crying, the girl smiling wide and the red ghost with their arms folded and scoffing as they look away. What's their problem?

"C'mon kid," the girl walks up to you and holds out her hand, "let's get you back inside before yuh catch a cold or sumting," you take her hand and she pulls you up, looking behind her and asking what's going to happen with Frisk and the other one, "oh, dey got unfinished business too but dat's for de next book. For now, you need sleep, you gine need it." She laughs.

What she says doesn't bother you, you don't even care, you're just grateful that you got to see your parents again, and set the others free, the human souls and the monsters. Now you just have to survive up top in the same way you did Underground. Can't be too hard right?
