When you woke up this morning you had no memory of what happened the night before, you woke up with your shirt unbuttoned, your hair a mess and a painful headache, Papyrus had just come in with breakfast and told you what happened. Apparently you got incredibly drunk, was staggering and mumbling to yourself and attempted to strip when you got to your room, Papyrus stopped you of course but after a poor attempt to struggle you passed out on the bed. Let's just say your face was brighter than a stoplight when he told you.

Now you're heading to Alphys' lab again to see if the date with her and Undyne went well, she isn't answering her phone when you text or call her so you just decided to go to make sure nothing was wrong. You hope the date went well though. Papyrus insisted on coming with you, trying to get him to stay was futile and he's a determined monster so it made no sense. This would've been your last stop before going to Asgore again, so far you've checked everything off your bucket list.

You've had a date with Papyrus.

Settled that issue with Undyne.

Made Mettaton visit Napstablook.

Met Gaster, though he wasn't on your list.

Made Sans trust you more. . .in a way.

Made ends meet with Grillby.

And haven't killed anyone. YAY!!

When you're actually inside the lab you realize it's quiet, unusually quiet, you start to become suspicious. You get Papyrus to call out for her but get no reply, you look around upstairs but don't find her, you search downstairs again and find a note on the desk below the large monitor that is still monitoring you for some reason. It reads:

Y/N, it's Alphys, if you're reading this it probably means that I'm not back yet and I haven't torn this up yet. Uh, thanks for helping Undyne and I go on a date, I've been so shy to ask her for so long then she came barging in after you sent me those texts. We watched anime and had noodles, it was great!! THANK YOU!!! Uh, I left this for you because I think I can trust you, can you keep a secret? I've been keeping this from everyone else for a long time and I'm not sure I can hide it much longer (I haven't even told Undyne). There's a door that leads to another part of the lab, I need you to go down there for me, it's better if I show you what I want to tell you.

P.S Please don't hate me.

Papyrus is looking over your shoulder as you read the letter, just as perplexed as you are, what's so bad that she thinks you will hate her?

"DOES SHE MEAN THIS DOOR?" Papyrus points to the door next to the ascending escalator and you shrug.

You put down the letter and walk to the door, Papyrus right behind you, and go through when it opens. It's another elevator. You push the only button there which says 'True Lab'. When it starts it rocks violently before descending, Papyrus looks hella worried at this motion, but then it start to speed up, like hyperbeam fast, making this weird whirring sound, and you start to float in the elevator. Before you two can register what's happening the elevator suddenly stops, you two plummet to the ground then everything goes dark.

Time Skip!
Don't worry you're still alive.

Papyrus is carrying your unconscious body bridal style as he walks out of the remains of the 'True Lab' elevator, huffing and slightly injured. His HP is down by 7 now but you are at 3 HP, how did your HP get so low so fast? Are you that weak? Or is your 'armor' only effective against monster attacks and not environmental attacks? If so then that sucks. Papyrus sits down while putting you in his lap and tries to get your HP back up by using his healing magic but is too tired to make it full again, you're now at 13. He's happy you're still alive though. He looks at his surroundings, he's in what looks to be a hospital, he's wondering when and how a hospital got built under the lab when he hears a weird distorted moaning sound. He slowly looks behind him in fear, eyes growing wide at the sight behind, the same googly eyes from before but they're now focused.

It's tall and bleach white, it has no arms and its legs are meshed together, it's melting in several places and swaying from side to side as it moves closer. Papyrus lets out a weird breathy droaned out scream as it's coming closer, really wanting to get up and run but almost wanting to fight it, looking down at you in his arms he decides to get up and run, still screaming as his long legs quickly carry him down the hallway. Not knowing the figure behind him is tilting its head at him in confusion.

After running for a while and convincing himself he has lost the mysterious white figure he notices he's in what looks to be the receptionist area of the hospital, he sets you down against the wall and makes sure no one is coming before he walks to a snack dispensing machine he sees in the corner. Hoping that this would be able to get his HP so he can heal you properly, there are only junk foods inside but he's willing to eat anything if it means getting you better, even if it's unhealthy. He's hoping it won't affect his 'handsome and well built body' too much though. When he's finished eating the bag of chips his HP goes back to full capacity and he's about to try healing you again but he hears the moaning again from the direction he came from. He jumps seeing the figure from before and quickly picks you up, dashing down the right hallway.

While running he hears more of the moaning and pass more of the moaning creatures, all different shapes and sizes but all melting and dripping, most directed their attacks towards you. He wonders what they are and why they're down here but more importantly, what Dr. Alphys is doing with them. He finally reaches an area full of beds all lined in neat rows, he lays you in one of them and makes sure you're comfortable before letting go.

"SORRY Y/N BUT I HAVE TO LOOK FOR A WAY OUT AND CARRYING YOU AROUND IS SLOWING ME DOWN, YOU PROBABLY CAN'T HEAR ME RIGHT NOW BUT I PROMISE I'LL BE BACK BEFORE SOMETHING BAD HAPPENS SO PLEASE DON'T FRET OF YOU IF YOU DON'T SEE
ME WHEN YOU WAKE UP." He whisper yells. He kisses your forehead and smiles a little when you smile in your sleep.

He runs off down another hallway on the left side, soon disappearing down the dark corridor. Papyrus searches everywhere for a way out, reading monitors on the wall as he passes them, there are notes or entries of some sort of diary, they sound like Alphys wrote them. Along the way he starts to collect keys and hooks them to the key chain on his phone, after fighting more of those weird monsters of course, he doesn't know where they lead to but if the monsters are protecting them then it must be important. He realizes something odd though, the monsters look. . .familiar for some reason. Though melted and oozing one of them looked like an adult Snowdrake, a female one too, well the Drake family have been missing their mother since she 'fell down'. Dr. Alphys was trying to make her better but they never saw her again, could that be. . .no. It can't. She was normal and not whatever that was. . .she kept mumbling about something 'snowy' though. . .

~Meanwhile~

You wake up with a start, panting hard as you clutch your chest, you look around at your surroundings, where are you? A hospital? You look down and see you're in a hospital bed with the covers over you, what're you doing here? All you remember was the elevator falling and. . .where's Papyrus? You fling the sheets off of you in haste, looking all around the room for your beloved skeleton, you want to shout for him but remember your voice will fail you.

You run off down a hallway to the right looking for him, you're scared, you want your Papyrus back, you don't want to be alone down here, you realize how childish you sound with these thoughts rushing through your head but you don't care! If anything happened to him you couldn't live with yourself knowing you could've done something to protect him.

You continue running until you run into a room with a lot of fans to the wall, you search every part of the room until you reach the end wall, that's when you hear a sort of panting sound behind you. With fear gripping your very soul once again you slowly turn your head around and what you see makes your heart skip a beat. It's large and white like Greater Dog but has no fur, it's wide as its legs are shaped and spaced in such a way that the shadows between them look like more dogs with white eyes, the head of the large beast was missing a face, just a black hole that seems to go forever but drips saliva as if drooling. It's oozing in some places as well. Your eyes widen as it comes closer to you, a distorted play of the dogs battle music getting louder as it comes closer, is it a monster? If not then what? And why did it look like this?? It suddenly charges at you, it's 'paws' making heavy thuds as more 'slobber' is coming from the black opening and the music getting louder. You quickly back up until you trip over your own feet in fear, you shield your front with your hands reflexively in case the beast is to attack but the blow you're expecting never comes.

You peek over your hands and see the beast laying at your feet, whimpering and wagging it's behind in the air, it doesn't seem have a tail. It is acting like Greater Dog. . .an idea pops into your head. You sit up and timidly reach out to it, it 'smells' your hand and rubs its head against it when you're close, you're right, it just wants to be pet. You smile softly as it lays it's head in your lap, the slobber dripping on your pants and legs but you don't care (that much), you pet it more and its body relaxes, you scratch its head and sides where all the other 'dogs' are and they seem to bark happily when they get pet or scratched. What is this, who is this, and why is it down here? Does Alphys have anything to do with this?

"Y/N!!!!!!!!" Your head snaps up and the 'dog' flinches and raises it head towards the sound.

It's Papyrus! He runs in and stops short of where you are, huffing and panting as he's hunched over with his hands on his knees.

"I *huff* WAS L-LOOKING *pant* FOR YOU!! YOU WEREN'T *huff* WEREN'T WHERE I LEFT YOU! I- I THOUGHT *huff* S-SOMETHING HAPPENED!"

He then collapses on his back, huffing and panting still but puts a thumbs up and says he's okay. You smile as you slowly push the beast off and stand up, it whines but still stands behind you, you help Papyrus up when he caught his breath as his jaw drops when he sees the white beast.

"UH Y/N, THERE'S A DOG BEHIND YOU." He says with focused googly eyes.

You smile and pull him out the room, ignoring his babblings and the 'dog' following you both outside. Eventually Papyrus tells you what he was doing and leads you to where he assumes the keys lead to, a door with multicolored locks, all corresponding with the keys Papyrus found. He smiles and boasts proudly as he opens the door, making you roll your eyes playfully at his actions. You three walk inside when the door opens, looking around you notice what appears to be a generator at the other end of the room. You three walk to it and examine it, the hospital is dark so maybe this will turn the power on and maybe you can find a way out of here too. Papyrus pulls on a lever he deems to be the right one and the lights flicker on but before his cape can flap in the wind again more of those weird melting monsters come, hissing and growling at you three. Papyrus summons a large bone and stands in front of you while the dog lowers its head and growls at them as they come closer. Should you join them? You do have magic after all but you just don't know how to use it, you wanted that to be one of the things you told Papyrus when you let everyone go but maybe you had to spoil it for him now.

"WAIT!!!!!!" Shouts a familiar voice, you all look in front of you in confusion, Alphys suddenly barges into the room, running at top speed and standing between you and the creatures, "I already fed you, there's food in your bowls, now go get it!" The creatures then happily hiss as they run off, the dog going with them and skidding outside.

Alphys then looks to you and Papyrus, relief and nervousness in her eyes as she gazes at you, "sorry about that guys, I was trying to feed them when the power went out and went to turn it back on, they must've smelled the snack you had Papyrus and got hungry.' She chuckles nervously at the end.

"DR. ALPHYS WHAT'S GOING ON? WHAT WERE THOSE CREATURES AND WHY DID THEY ATTACK US?!?!" Papyrus yells, the bone disappearing and he flapping his arms wildly to emphasize his concern.

"Did you guys read my letter from up top?" Her shoulders slump, you two nod, "well this is what I wanted to show you. Ever since we were all trapped underground Asgore asked me to experiment and find a way to make monsters stronger. At the time a lot of monsters were 'falling down' and almost turning to dust, I had the guards bring them here so I can make them better but also running experiments on them for my research but. . .the results weren't as hoped, " she twiddles her thumbs as she pauses, not daring to look you two in the eye, "the only way to get a monster stronger was to get a human soul but because the time between each human fell was so long I had to improvise, creating artificial determination from the human souls we actually did have. You know how monster bodies can't handle excessive amounts of human determination? Well when I completed the serum and injected it in the fallen monsters but as I said the effects weren't as hoped. All who got injected actually started to get up and walk and act like they were getting better but it was all too good to be true. The determination had their bodies melting at an alarming rate, they couldn't keep themselves together, and if they touched anyone while they were melting that monster melted with them and their bodies meshed together creating the creatures you saw before. I called them Amalgamates. . ."

Papyrus and you stand in bafflement, this is all so much to soak in. The creatures are undead determination infused monsters?

"When I didn't have anymore monsters to experiment on I started to lose hope, I started to think I couldn't save everyone and bring them back to their families. Then I started to experiment on a non human specimen, a yellow flower," a yellow flower? She couldn't mean. . , "it actually worked but I haven't been able to find it for years, I'm not even sure how it got out the lab but there hasn't been any sightings of it so I assumed its just hiding somewhere."

You start to walk towards her with your head down, your hair fell so she couldn't see your face. She flinches seeing you coming, thinking you're going to do something but she doesn't expect to do what you did. You hug her. Hard. It's easier for you now to as well, she's taller now, her legs weren't bent as much as your past encounters with her, it's probably because she was running before.

"You aren't mad?" She says sadly, and then Papyrus joins in on the hug too, making her stiffen again.

"WE WOULD NEVER BE MAD AT YOU DR. ALPHYS, YOU'RE OUR FRIEND AND FRIENDS FORGIVE EACH OTHER NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS." You nod along with what Papyrus says.

Ever so slowly you feel her hands wrap around you two and squeeze just as tight as you two are. After a while you three let go, Alphys wipes her face as stray tears of joy were rolling down her cheeks.

"S-Sorry, I j-just thought you -guys were going t-to hate me when you found out. . .I'm going to l-let everyone go back home n-now. Thanks for understanding." And with that she runs off.

"THAT WENT WE-"

But before Papyrus can finish his sentence everything goes dark and you feel yourself fall on your back.

Hey there Y/N, good to see you're still alive even after all this time. You won't remember me but we're friends, long lost friends in fact, I hope you're ready for the battle up ahead. It'll be the last one you have. Muhahahahahahaha!!!

And with that you lose consciousnesses.

*Although practically asleep you can feel your determination raising your HP to full capacity, and preparing you for your next challenge. Will you be ready for it? Does this fill you with determination?
