Chapter 2: Bad Puns. . .
I woke up once more but this time I was in pain, so much pain, and Creator decided to be a bitch and end the VERY first chapter with a fucking cliffhanger. Cliffhangers hurt, you know!!!
I opened my eyes seeing the bright white moon and its stars staring down at me, I realized I was on my back, great. I could've been paralyzed! I tried sitting up and a sharp pain shot through my right shoulder, must've landed on a rock or something and dislocated it cause it won't move, shit. I tried to pop it back into place but it hurt too much to even touch it, I tried to stand up, another sharp pain going through my left leg all the way to my hip. Damn, how high did I fall from?
I looked around and realized I was in some sort of cave, the walls were dark and I could hear crickets chirping in the distance, I used the wall to push myself up, moaning in pain as I stood up. I couldn't see a way to get back to the surface but, low and behold, a hallway I didn't see before popped out of nowhere. How convenient. (Hallway ex machina)
I limped my way to the hallway, wincing every now and then from the pain, it was dark and spooky, the perfect place to be injured, yay! I hopped through the passage way, the walls slowly turning a dark blue as I continued, the air started to get warm but a sense of loneliness started to float around. As I 'walked' I noticed a weird looking frog hop away in a hurry when it saw me and a big ass moth...? The hell?
I ignored them and shook my head, finding help was more important than some weird ass critters, I heard laughter echo off the walls and I stopped suddenly. Someone else was here?? I continued slowly, hearing the laughter increase as I round a corner, it sounded like a man and a woman.
"Hey Tori," said the man with a slightly raspy voice, "what's a skeleton's favourite instrument?" He snickered.
"I don't know Sans," said the woman with a calm and mother like voice, "what is a skeleton's favourite instrument?"
"A trom-bone!" He snickered.
She giggled at his very bad pun and he snickered harder, God, that was terrible.
"What happens when a skeleton gets into a fight with another skeleton?" She said.
"What happens?"
"He really sockets to him." Oh Jeez, not her too.
He snickered hard and she couldn't stop giggling.
"Why did the Mummy have to go to the doctor?" He said.
"Because he couldn't stop coffin." I mumbled.
I didn't hear them after that, did they leave? Or maybe they...heard me. Fuck! I tried to turn around but my body wouldn't move, like it was being controlled by some invisible force, I saw a bright blue aura surrounding me and a growling sound from behind me.
"You wanna have a bad time?" It was the man with the raspy voice.
The aura suspended me in the air and made me do an 180, the aura itself was illuminating the area around me and I could see a kind of short skeleton (compared to me) wearing a blue coat with a fur hood and a white shirt under it, black shorts with white lines on the outside and fuzzy pink slippers with socks. . ? The hell? His left eye...socket had a glowing bright blue pupil in it too, his face had a wide grin although his eyes had a murderous glare and his left hand was outstretched with the same blue aura around it. So it was him!
"Sans! Put him down, do not harm the child." Child? I'm seventeen!
A large. . .goat woman? (Or a cow?) with white fur wearing a long blue tunic with a weird symbol on her chest, she gave the skeleton the, as I like to call it, 'Mother' stare. You know, the 'obey or I'll whoop your ass' look.
"But Tori-"
"No buts, put him down. Now." She glared."
The skeleton sighed and the bright blues vanished, I landed on my feet and fell backward in pain, my leg's broken remember? I yelped in pain as I clutched it with my good hand, gritting my teeth together as the goat woman...Tori(?) gasped and knelt beside me.
"Oh, my dear child! Are you alright? Sans didn't hurt you did he?"
"Me? I barely touched the kid." The skeleton...Sans(?) shrugged.
Wait...Sans? Like the font? Holy hell. . .
"M-my leg's broken a-and I can't move my a-arm." Damn you stutters!
"Oh no! Did you perhaps fall from the mountain?" She said with a raised brow.
"Y-yeah, something wrong?"
"Nah, just nobody really comes that way anymore, kiddo." Sans shrugged.
"Well no matter, let's get you home and attend to your wounds," Tori said.
She then picked me up bridal style, effortlessly might I add, and headed in the direction I was originally going, Sans was trailing behind us slightly, mumbling something to himself but I couldn't make it out.
"What is your name, my child? My name is Toriel and this is my friend Sans." She smiled.
He flinched at his name and smiled weakly at me, what's his problem?
"Name's Y/N, nice to meet you."
What? I may be a troublemaker but at least I know when to be polite.
"That's a nice name," she smiled again, she looked at Sans and saw he was acting a bit antisocial, "Oh don't worry about him. He's just being Mr. GrumpyBones at the moment."
"Yeah, I see he's a real bonehead." She giggled slightly and Sans got a bit flustered but didn't say anything.
These two seem nice but I find something very weird. Why doesn't Sans' mouth move when he talks?????
***
"There, all better."
Toriel just finished wrapping the last the bandages on my arm, man I hate popping joints back into place, I feel like I got sent to Hell and back. Anyway, we were now in what Toriel calls 'Home', nice little cabin-like house, its warm so I could get used to it. We were by the fireplace, Toriel in her Toriel-sized chair, I in a rocking chair and Sans on the floor for some reason...she made Butterscotch Cinnamon pie for us too.
"How are you feeling now?"
"Better."
She smiled wider and ate her slice, "so what were you doing on Mt.Ebott, my child?"
"I...was sightseeing," here we go again,"I wasn't paying attention and tripped."
"Oh dear, that's terrible."
I shrugged and stared at the fire for a bit, watching the wood burn was soothing for some reason.
"Well, you can stay here as long as you like." She offered, Sans eyes flickered back and forth between me and Toriel like he was trying to send us a mental message but neither of us was receiving.
"I can't do that, don't get me wrong, your house is beautiful and you're nice and stuff but. . ."
". . .But?"
"I don't really do well in underground areas...for long periods of time that is."
"You're claustrophobic?" Sans piped.
"In a sense."
"Oh. . ." Toriel frowned a little now but soon smiled again, "wait, how about you stay the night and you can live with Sans and his brother in Snowdin." She gleamed.
"Fine with me," but I could hear the lie in his voice, "I'm sure Papyrus will like him. Especially since he's a human."
Human?? I'm not...oh wait, my beanie's still hiding my ears. Should I show them now or . . ?
"S-sure. . ."
"Then it's settled," Toriel stood up gently took the plate from me, helping me up and walking me down the hall, "you can sleep in Frisk's room, for the time being, they're not home at the moment so you can stay in there."
She opened a door revealing what appeared to be a kid's room with a toy chest and a desk with crayons on it too and shit, thankfully this kid was clean. She guided me to the bed and I sat down, she leaned forward and was going to put her hand on my cheek but I flinched away out of reflex, her eyes widened but soon drooped in sadness. She held her head down and her hands trembled slightly, she looked like she was going to cry but she turned to the door before I could tell if she would actually.
"Good night, my child." She said in a sad tone and left, aw man, I hurt Goat Mom's feelings. Great now I'm a bad guy. . .
Sans saw as she left and glared at me, walking inside with that smirk still on his face.
"Did you something to Tori?" He said.
"No."
"Did you hurt her feelings?"
"It was a reflex. . ."
He rose a...brow(?) at me and stepped closer, the rather short skeleton becoming eye to eye with me, "look, Kid, I don't know what you did but you're gonna undo it soon or else you're gonna have a bad time."
"I'm not sure how that's gonna work, could you show me the tuToriel?"
Oh. My. God! It's contagious!!!!
Sans couldn't help but snicker at the bad pun and I just laughed with him, he calmed down and his smile returned.
"Just don't make her feel bad, you're lucky she likes otherwise," leaned really close to my face and could feel his breath tickle my nose. Wait, what breath?? He's a skeleton, he doesn't have lungs, "Y O U' D B E D E A D W H E R E Y O U S T A N D."
His eyes were soulless, like black voids that would suck in your soul if you got too close, and his permanent smile just made it creepier, but Creator's being weird so-
"But technically I'm sitting, dude."
He opened his mouth to say something but stopped himself and closed his mouth, then he got flustered. It was funny, "whatever, just make sure you apologize later."
He stormed out the room and went into the direction Toriel disappeared, I chuckled at him and flopped back on the bed, not really caring how small it was. My good hand unconsciously touched my chest and my heart almost stopped when I didn't feel my necklace right away but then I remembered I tucked it in my shirt, it was still there. Thank God. I felt really tired and scooted more in the bed but due to my arm and leg being bandaged I tried to get in a comfortable position, which ended in me looking like I fell from the 17th floor but I felt comfortable and that was the important part.
I fell asleep soon after though, slumber catching up to me just after my head touched the pillow.
Time Skip!
