Unsettling Revelations
Scott visits Hermann to get to the bottom of the mystery and interview him when he finds the man to be in a delirious state and slipping in and out of consciousness with bursts of violent psychotic episodes. Herman in his episodes describes the creature which lines up along with the destructive capabilities that can wreak ultimate havoc such as witnessed by the recent disasters. Although partially satisfied Scott still can't unravel the mystery of the creature's attack patterns which seems to be erratic but he seems to be confident that no matter the nature of the attacks there must be an underlying pattern that is driving the creature to seek out its targets. As Scott returns to ask further from Boris, he finds him to be murdered and a similar fate to Hermann when he decides to pursue his last shred of evidence back at the asylum. Scott, now with no practical evidence to present to the world is out of his wits as he mulls over the entire enigma. While attending Boris's funeral he notices the two men with familiar faces observing him from a distance. One of the local community members informs that Boris often conversed about Russian concerning the disasters. Scott hurries back to find the escaped Russian soldier Sergei Zakharov only to find him rotting away in a local prison cell. Scott requests Sergei to reveal the entire incident dating all those years back which initially discombobulates him but he decides nevertheless to confess. Sergei ruminates that he was a mere security guard who had served in Stalin's forces in WWII and was enlisted to carry out the heavy duties regarding Operation Ressurection. To escape from the prying eyes of the public both Stalin and Hitler had commissioned the erection of a secret underwater facility located under the now Oreshek fortress that had acted as the base of their operations for carrying out their secret biological experiments. The facility was built via a network of underwater caves which had helped them to escape notice from Allied forces. Under the guidance of lead scientist Joachim Fischer, Project GottVlast', a portmanteau of German and Russian languages roughly translating to 'God's Power' was made. Initiated to create mutated deadly sea creatures such as crabs, eels, sharks, jellyfishes, and snakes to name just a few with the help of a newly developed experimental mutation serum termed Mutagen Z as controlled monstrosities at the whim of a human to target the Allied forces. Although riddled with numerous failures, the project had succeeded and a moray eel was mutated to Brobdingnagian proportions within a matter of few days that had left the monitoring scientists Arno Hermann and Bogdan Tarasov awestruck. Thought to exceed their intended objectives beyond their wildest dreams, they were instructed to deliver crates of ampoules and vials of Mutagen Z to other parts of their army via a U-boat. But the mutagen's thoroughly untested properties led to an unexpected turn of events in which the eel had grown beyond its expected limits and broke free from its containment tank from the facility leading to utter chaotic destruction and mayhem on its way out. Only he and Hermann Mueller were able to escape the facility via another U-boat to the surface while the other U-boat carrying the mutagen got attacked by the creature leading it to sink at the bottom of the ocean leaving the creature trapped in the network of caves due to a series of underwater volcanic eruptions. Horrified by the revelations and their subsequent impact Scott tries to fathom the repercussions of the decades-old incident and races to warn Angela and her team lest they fall in grave danger.
