Jonathan Bradbury, chief of the Biotech department at Neptune Co. Ltd prepares to monitor the feed of The Nautilus, a highly advanced deep-sea submersible as his colleagues prepare to dive for research suggested by his superiors. They intend to search for the remains, of any of the ill-fated crew members of The Marianne, a facsimile predecessor of The Nautilus which was an equally sophisticated submersible that had previously gone missing while exploring the periphery of Oreshek Fortress, bordering the Shlisselburg coastal town of Russia. The incident generated much controversy among his higher-ups and has led them to embark on this immediate exploration although the real reasons are still left to be determined. As the Nautilus begins its descent to the shadowy depths of the last known location of the Marianne, Jonathan slightly at unease ruminates about the terrifying rumors that have stirred up in the local community in the past few weeks regarding the idyllic coastal towns bordering the village. The crew members upon searching the vicinity discover an intricate network of an underwater cave system and some broken vials and ampoules that seems to be leaking some sort of dark fluorescent liquid. While sweeping across the adjoining sea bed they notice some oddities regarding the flora and fauna and also discover the remains of a decrepit sunken WWII U-boat. Suddenly the submersible is struck by an unknown force on its starboard side which discombobulates the crew members and it loses its primary functions leaving it stranded at the bottom of the obsidian abyss. Jonathan, terrified of witnessing the footage through the peripheral cameras on the Nautilus is shaken to his core when the footage on-screen solidifies the circulating rumors as he races to warn about the impending doom of his crewmates.
