Chapter 13

"Wow, aren't they just so shameless?" Jimin says.

He plops next to Taehyung on the couch, head still facing towards where Lisa is with her beau in the kitchen. Lisa is sitting on the countertop watching Jackson flipping pancakes. Once in a while, Jackson goes towards Lisa and takes a grape from her mouth using his mouth and they giggle together like some 13 years old couple.

"Gross," Jimin says.

Jennie scoffs. "You are just going to be like that once you have a partner."

"Not me, obviously," Taehyung puts his hands in the air. "I'm in a relationship and I never do any of that."

"That's because Jisoo is your girlfriend," Jennie responses. "If you're with somebody else, you're just going to be the same as that." She cocks her head towards the two lovebirds.

"But isn't it absolutely normal to flirt with your own partner," Chaeyoung adds. "Don't tell me none of you ever flirted with your partner?"

"Not loudly," Jisoo tells her.

"An intellectual," Jimin says.

"When did you become so... reserved?" Chaeyoung chuckles at Jimin with a raised brow. She turns to Jisoo. "Remember when he used to openly flirt with every bartender at The Agust's Tavern?"

Jisoo's eyes widen a bit before she nods her head. "He was so shameless."

Jimin laughs aloud, dramatically and exaggeratingly with no humor in it. "People change, Chaeyoung. Oh, I forgot, except you. I mean, if you've changed, you would be fine with this upcoming wedding."

"Hey!" Chaeyoung glares. "I am fine!"

"Speaking of that," Jennie raises her voice, obviously trying to stop her and Jimin from bickering as she immediately looks towards Chaeyoung before a smile spreads on her face. "How's it going with Mr. Fake Boyfriend?"

Chaeyoung flicks her gaze away and shrugs. "It's fine."

She hears Jimin humming before he mutters. "Doesn't sound fine."

"Really?" Taehyung asks. "Did he run away or something? He better not. The wedding is exactly five days from today."

"It's perfectly fine," Chaeyoung sighs and rests her head on her hand as she idly scrolls through her phone. "He's not running away with my money."

"You don't look fine," Jennie says with her eyes narrowed. "You nervous?"

Chaeyoung lifts her head, thinks of their almost kiss a few days ago, gulps. "Nervous for what?"

"For the wedding."

"Oh," she goes back to scrolling. "I don't know. No, I guess."

"So, if you're not nervous for the wedding, then, is everything fine with your fake boyfriend?"

"What makes you guys think that something is wrong?"

Jennie keeps on staring at her as if she wants her to spill something but eventually, she sighs in defeat and says that it's nothing. Jimin, though, doesn't let the discussion about Jungkook die down yet.

"So, have you guys kissed?"

She wishes that Jungkook believed her that she was actually ready, she wasn't hesitating, she was just flustered, that it was out of habit to say 'maybe' in that situation. Chaeyoung presses her lips together, shakes her head as her lips subconsciously jut out into a small pout.

"What?!" Everyone collectively yells, causing Lisa and Jackson to stop doing whatever they're doing before Lisa hurriedly goes towards them.

"What happened?" Lisa asks, eyes enlarged.

Jimin gestures towards Chaeyoung. "She hasn't kissed her boyfriend."

"What?!" Lisa's mouth hangs open. "After all the time you spent together, you guys haven't kissed?"

"She spent times with him?" Taehyung asks in confusion.

"Yeah!" Lisa nods. "They go on dates and all."

"And you're telling me I didn't know about it?" Taehyung throws Chaeyoung a face full of disbelief.

"Why do you need to know about it?" Jennie asks.

Taehyung scoffs and turns to Jimin. "Do you know about it? That they went on dates?"

"Yeah?" Jimin looks at him sheepishly.

"Unbelievable," Taehyung rolls his eyes. "You upset me."

"What?" Jimin pushes Taehyung's shoulder. "Oh, what's Jisoo doing then she's not telling you about it?"

"Do not involve me in your stupid argument," Jisoo says. "I'm not an information center."

"Jimin," Taehyung sighs and looks at the said man with a disappointed look. "You're my soulmate and you don't update me on this thing?"

Jimin widens his eyes at Taehyung. "Well, if you are my soulmate, you should probably know already! I thought you could read my mind!"

"You guys are probably not soulmates, that's why," Lisa says with a chuckle and both Taehyung and Jimin throw the cushion pillows at her.

"Don't you dare say that!" Jimin barks.

"How could you," Taehyung grits at Lisa.

Jennie shakes her head. "Men are confusing and dumb. Okay, back to the main topic. Chaeng, you haven't kissed him?"

"Why is it such a big deal if we've kissed or not?" she asks, frustration growing at this topic with her friends interrogating her. "Does it matter?"

"Yes, it does," Jimin firmly says. "What are his kissable lips for then if you don't kiss them? If he wasn't being a prick to me last time, I would volunteer to replace you if you wouldn't do the honor."

Chaeyoung snorts at her friend. "You were the prick first before he was." Just then, her phone vibrates in her hand and her eyes briefly twinkle as she stares at Jungkook's name on her screen. He's sent her a picture of a pair of hands. She sends a reply.

- What's this?

Jackson then comes with plates of pancakes for everyone and that puts their conversation to an end about her and Jungkook. At the same time, Jungkook has sent her about five more pictures of hands and she's typing her reply when suddenly her ringtone is resonating through the noisy space, his name appearing on the screen, causing all of her friends to silence themselves and all eyes are on her.

Chaeyoung panics and accidentally rejects the call. She tries to be casual about it, puts her phone down calmly and stuffs her mouth with the pancake.

"Is that him?" Taehyung asks.

Chaeyoung nods but is still avoiding everyone's eyes.

"Why didn't you answer it?" Jimin asks. "It's probably booty call."

Chaeyoung shoots an unimpressive look at him. "Very funny. It's not."

"She is so frustrating," Jimin mutters. "No wonder she has a failed love life."

"Says the one who's single," Lisa sneers.

"Shut up," Jimin hisses. "At least I don't have a relationship where someone can fuck it up."

Chaeyoung's mouth falls open and she grabs her fork, pointing at Jimin. "If you don't stop being shady, I'll stab you with this."

"Everyone just shut up and eat!" Jennie says out loud. "Gosh. You guys are like kids!"

"Yes, mom!" Jimin snorts with sarcasm, earning a glare from Jennie.

Chaeyoung glances back to her phone, contemplates on snatching it and read all the texts Jungkook has just sent her. The presence of her friends, though, stops her from doing so. She doesn't need to hear their comments and questions about her relationship with Jungkook, although, she's highly curious of why he's been sending her pictures of hands.

She thinks she's being discreet about it, but it seems like a failure when she catches Jisoo eyeing her while she quickly finishes her pancake and gets up from the couch with her phone held tight. There's a hint of smile on Jisoo's face as she looks away from Chaeyoung and quietly eating her pancake while watching Taehyung and Jimin bicker with Jennie and Lisa. Jackson joins them with another batch of pancakes and Chaeyoung silently makes her way out of Lisa's apartment.

Her foot repeatedly taps on the floor as she stands in the hallway, phone pressed against her ear. As soon as she hears Jungkook's voice, she straightens up. Her mouth opens in haste, wanting to apologize but Jungkook beats her to it, and the first thing that he says makes a sudden lump to build in her throat.

"Are you okay?" he asks.

She takes a few moments to respond. "Yeah. I'm fine. Why do you ask?"

He chuckles on the other line. "Nothing. So, what do you think?"

"What do I think?" she questions. "About what? Those hands?"

Jungkook laughs for a few moments and she finds herself grinning, biting her own finger before she realizes that she may have looked stupid when Taehyung opens the door to ask her to get back inside and does a double take at her. He narrows his eyes momentarily and she immediately put her hand down, clearing her throat.

"Who's that?" Jungkook asks.

"Who's that?" Taehyung asks a second after.

"None of your business," she says with spite towards Taehyung.

Taehyung then nods with his eyes narrowing before he disappears back into the house and at the same time Jungkook says over the phone, "Wow. Okay. I didn't know you're busy."

Her eyes widening. "No, no, no, I'm not. I'm just hanging out with my friends. That was my friend, Taehyung. Um. Back to the hands. Why did you send me those pictures?"

Jungkook scoffs heavily. "You didn't read my texts?"

"I didn't," she bites her lips. "I'm sorry?"

"Apology unaccepted," he says.

"Whatever," she mutters, not realizing the grin that paints on her face as she leans against the wall before she is crouching, hugging her knees. They continue to talk about the pictures that he's sent to her and Chaeyoung doesn't even realize that her legs had gone numb from sitting in that position for almost 15 minutes.

The call ends with her telling him that she will come over to his place and when she's about to stand up, she gasps softly at the numbness finally hitting her, causing her to almost fall to her face on the floor. Chaeyoung's hand is quick to stop it from happening, takes a few seconds to let the nonexistent insects crawling under her skin causing tingles at her feet to vanish before she stands up.

As she turns around towards the door, her gasp is louder when there are three heads sticking out, three pairs of eyes narrowing at her, three annoying smirks sent her way.

"When you fall for someone so hard he makes your knees go weak," Lisa says and presses her palm against her chest. "Aw..."

"What nonsense are you talking about? Psh," Chaeyoung scoffs.

"Aw, look at her cheeks," Taehyung says.

And Jimin finishes his sentence. "They're red."

Chaeyoung rolls her eyes dramatically as she pushes herself into the apartment, trying her best to ignore the soulmates snickering loudly and annoyingly at her, joined by Lisa who's still making an 'aw' sound as she follows her from behind.
