Chapter 1
It's ugly.
Chaeyoung stares at the wedding invitation on the coffee table. Ivory with a shade of lilac and soft buttery yellow, wedding details in a slightly darker rosy mauve in the center, bordered by floral prints. Okay, it's not ugly but she thinks her taste is a million times better. She doesn't remember any of those colors as Chanyeol's favorite. Maybe they're his soon-to-be bride's favorite colors, maybe they're Chanyeol's that she never actually knew.
Whatever, she thinks. It doesn't matter. Their breakup happened two years ago, not two days ago. This is nothing. Just because she hasn't found a replacement, it doesn't mean that her life isn't doing great. Her new job is cool. Her colleagues are cool. Everything has been very cool, so, this invitation is nothing.

Jungkook sips the last of the coffee with an exaggerating sound as he stares at the words printed in large fonts, bold and underlined that he has been reading over and over for the past five minutes; PAY THE RENT IN 3 DAYS OR VACATE.
He stares for another ten seconds or so at the paper taped to his door before taking out his keys, entering his apartment and goes straight to the kitchen. Jungkook opens the refrigerator, smiles at the nothingness inside of it before he turns and takes a glass and drinks the water from the tap.
As he thinks of what to eat for dinner, it has finally dawned on him that his life is screwed. He looks out the window and observes the streets. If he really is going to start a new life living in the streets, he needs to reserve a comfortable spot at the park.

The sun stabs her eyes and Chaeyoung lets out the ugliest whine as she pulls the blanket until her entire body is covered including her head when Jennie pulls the curtain open after failing to wake her up through gentle slaps on her face.
"Gosh, you look like shit," Jennie comments and continues to pat Chaeyoung all over her face, chanting 'rise and shine' like a mantra until Chaeyoung slaps her friend's hand away, flailing her arms around.
"Okay, okay, I'm up," she grumbles. "Stop touching me."
Chaeyoung rubs her face lazily, blinking the crust from her sleepy eyes and she forces her eyes to open when Jennie threatens to get a whole basin of water if she attempts to go back to sleep. Jennie stands there with her arms crossed across her chest, and she's actually wearing a really nice silk maroon dress, a decent amount of cleavage showing, her hair is up into a neat bun with a few strands purposely let down on each side of her face, face in full make-up and Chaeyoung's eyes slowly widens.
"Am I late for the wedding?" she slightly gasps. "Is that why you're here?"
Jennie furrows her brows and sighs. She takes a seat on the edge of Chaeyoung's bed. "The wedding is one month from now, silly."
"So why are you all dressed up?" Chaeyoung asks, already making herself comfortable in her bed once again.
"I have to attend an event and I have to leave early if I don't want to be late so I dressed up from home because I think I will be late when I remembered that I need to check up on you," Jennie explains.
Chaeyoung sputters under the cover. "Why do you need to check up on me? Last time I checked, you're not my mom."
The cover is suddenly off her in an instant and she's met with Jennie narrowing her eyes at her, as if she is trying to read her mind. "What time did you get home?"
"Huh?" Chaeyoung thinks for a while and shrugs.
"Were you already at home when you said that Chanyeol can go fuck himself in the ass?"
Chaeyoung's face grimaces. "I never said that. I never left home in the first place."
"You were at The Agust's Tavern. Jihyo saw you."
"Okay, I might have left home. But I never said that," Chaeyoung snorts. "Why would I say that in the first place?"
"I don't know, ask yourself."
"I would never say anything as pathetic as that," she continues to say.
"But you certainly did." Then, just as Chaeyoung wants to defend herself, she hears herself crying, the pathetic voice of hers coming from Jennie's phone, saying; "Chanyeol can go fuck himself in the ass with his ugly invitation card! I hope he stubs his toes and falls and loses his front tooth!"
"Hey!" Chaeyoung yells, her face heats up as she throws pillows at Jennie who is certainly trying to hold herself from laughing. "Do you have nothing else better to do than record me during my vulnerable moment just to embarrass me?!"
"Chaeng," Jennie rolls her eyes, "this is a voicemail."
"And I wonder why you're my best friend when you wouldn't even pick up your phone when I called."
"You called at 3.45AM!" Jennie argues. "AM is Ante Meridiem. Which stands for before noon. 3.45AM is so early! Very, very early in the fucking morning!"
Chaeyoung just huffs and closes her eyes, hugs one of the pillows as she tries not to think of how she was always the big spoon and how her wish was to be the smaller spoon but was never granted.
"What on earth were you doing being out alone at that hour?"
"I was not alone," she groans. "I was with Lisa."
Jennie laughs like a mad woman. "Lisa is in Thailand and will only be back today. Who were you with? Don't just drop any names."
Chaeyoung scrunches her face. "Taehyung?"
"Did you just guess who you were with?" Jennie asks in disbelief, her eyes widening.
She groans and commands her brain to try and recall back. She's certain that she was with someone. She probably has gulped down more alcohol than her body let her to that her memory is failing her because she cannot remember who. It's definitely someone who has a really nice smile with eyes going crescent as he does so, sounds gentle and nice when he speaks.
"Oh," Chaeyoung smiles, sighing in relief when a person comes up in her mind. "Jimin. I was with him."
"Okay," Jennie nods and Chaeyoung sighs one more time in relief because she really needs Jennie to drop the topic already. She's tired, she needs more sleep because she doesn't feel like doing anything. She feels far from productive and Jisoo says that's normal, to be unproductive once in a while.
"Good," Chaeyoung rolls on the bed. "Now please close the door when you leave."
"Sure, but first, let's see if Jimin can attest to your statement."
Chaeyoung glares at Jennie momentarily before she grumbles a low 'whatever' and turns her attention away from the older woman. She doesn't bother much when Jennie puts Jimin on loudspeaker and as soon as she heard Jimin confusedly denying it, she feels her own brows furrow.
"Okay, fine, I don't know," she admits when Jennie gives her a look after the call with Jimin ended. "But why does it even matter who I was with last night?"
"You're making me worried, that's why! Even more worried to know that you actually have never moved on from Chanyeol and-"
"I have moved on from him, what are you talking about," she says flatly.
Jennie gives her an unimpressed look as she lets her phone release the pathetic scream of a voice that unmistakably belongs to Chaeyoung, again.
"Chanyeol can go fuck himself in the ass-"
"Okay!"
"-with his ugly invitation card! I hope he stubs his toes and falls and loses his front tooth!"
"Fine! Stop that!" Chaeyoung gets up and sits straight on the bed.
Jennie looks at her long, her face softens. "Look," she begins. "Don't stress yourself out, alright? You don't have to attend the wedding if you don't feel like it. It's not like it's compulsory to go."
Chaeyoung nods slowly, looks away and stares out at the window. She squints a little before getting used of the sun throbbing her tired eyes. A few seconds passed, her eyes are more awake and determined and she is staring at the sky outside firmly. "No. I have to go. He needs to see that I'm living a good life and I'm fine without him and I can be happy without him."
"That's my girl."
"I'll prove to him that life is so much better without him. I can do so much better even without him. I'm a strong, independent woman. I'm not a loser. I have moved on. I-"
"Okay," Jennie cuts her off. "I admire your spirit, but I honestly doubt that you have really moved on-"
Chaeyoung shoots a glare and opens her mouth to deny it, but Jennie quickly beats her to it.
"But you will! I trust that you will. Just that, first you need to get up and wash because Jisoo just informed that you need to be ready. She and the rest will be here. You guys are going to pick Lisa from the airport!"
"As much as I miss her, I'll pass," Chaeyoung sinks deeper into the pillow she's resting on.
"Are you sure?" Jennie asks, already on her way out of Chaeyoung's room. "Lisa said she brought some of your favorite Thai food. I'll just tell Lisa that she can give them to Tae-"
"I'm up, I'm up."
