2. Never Ever
September 21st, 1968
The rain almost swallowed the masses of people.
The world was bathed in something gray.
London, right?
For most of them it was clear that the sun wasn't in the sky.
Thousands of Muggle workers in fancy office coats hurried through the alleys.
However, one person stood out in particular. Because with her jet-black wool coat, the fine hat and the patent leather shoes, she undoubtedly belonged to the upper class.
The drops pattered on her umbrella, which the young lady lifted up.
She roamed a side street.
-Adelaide Street- was on one of the rusty street signs.
Shortly before one of the small row houses she paused, pulled out her wand and mumbled something to herself.
The bland blocks of buildings pushed aside and a small path became visible that led to a single house.
Once there she spoke in a powerful voice: "Alohomora!"
The lock clicked and the door nearly threw its hinges.
Bellatrix passed her family home. The young Black took off her coat, her curly hair fell over her shoulder and she entered the living room.Once there, she looked at the assembled company.
Two girls, one blonde, the other brunette, were seated on the sofa.
They weren't much younger than their sister.
Both looked at their mother. She looked particularly embarrassed with her dark brown bun and the emotionless expression on her face.
In the armchair in front of the fireplace, an unknown man spread a pile of files with a wave of his magic wand.
"Madame Black, I'm here -" He adjusted his monocle: "- To talk to you about the imminent death of your husband."
Bellatrix swallowed.
She knew her father was dying. But she hardly wanted to think about his death, neither did she want to hear the truth from a stranger.
"- So the inheritance of the Black family always takes place when the oldest man is of legal age."
"What does man mean?" Andromeda stepped in and tilted her head.
"That means - that means - when father is dead, we will sit on the street, we will not own anything? Just because we're daughters and not sons? "
Druella Black's gaze met that of her three daughters.
"This is the biggest bullshit I've ever heard!" Bellatrix bit her lower lip.
"That just shows that women cannot and never will deal with finances."
Now Druella's mood was darkening. She pulled out her wand and in an instant the man's documents flew together and she shooed him to the door.
With more than one harsh "That doesn't belong in our house!" He was not bid farewell.
Now there was silence in the previously honorable Black house.
The youngest daughter's eyes came to tears.
"But - but what does that mean now?" Andy hugged Narcissa, her tears seeping into her sister's thick head of hair.
Without another word, Druella Black left the living room and Bellatrix collapsed onto the sofa next to her two sisters.
"Yes, Bella. What does that mean?"
"That means -" Bellatrix toyed with one of her many strands of hair: "That means, when father is dead, a hunt begins, a hunt whose trophy is Bellatrix Druella Black."
Andy looked into her sister's bleak face."As -?"
"The law says there must be a male heir, mother will want to marry me off. I am the oldest -""We won't let that happen!" Snorted Cissy and wiped the tears from her cheeks.
"No." Andromeda crossed her arms over her chest: "Never, ever!"
