Chapter 26
..
The grey haired man paced back and forth in the main room of the Jeon house as he waited for the certain someone to show up. His eyes would scan the watch and the door more than frequently with the passage of each second.
Why isn't Zia coming?
Kang's movements soon came to a halt, when he heard someone walking in. He was standing facing the wall, while his hands shoved in his pockets.
Zia didn't seem to notice him. She was heading upstairs but stopped subsequently. Kang's reflection on the glass window in front of the main room, catched her eye.
"I see you're enjoying your life too much huh?"
Zia glared at his reflection. Kang turned around with a smirk which was soon replaced by a straight face. She could see him clenching his jaw. His eyes held nothing but a dirty look in them.
"Why did you come here?" She asked, not trying to hide the irritation in her voice.
"Ooh~ easy girl." He said with a mocking smile, "You don't talk like that with your owner, do you? You should know your place." He clicked his tongue.
"Shut up. And tell me why you came here? If you wanna meet Jungkook, he's not home. You can leave." She gritted her teeth while still throwing daggers at him.
"I'm talking to you nicely, aren't I?" Kang spat, as he walked closer to her. "Then why the fuck do you have to act all feisty?"
Zia closed her eyes on the loud voice of the man that had managed to make her flinch.
"When everyone knows, I. Own. You. Kim Zia." He completed and laughed.
"No." Zia spoke, "You don't own me. You used to own me, Kang."
The man's smile fell and what came in its place was a scowl. She definitely pissed him off. Just two words added to a sentence and the whole meaning blew off to a completely different thing. He wasn't sure if he should swear at Zia or the person who made this 'english' language.
"What? Can't take the truth? tsk, Did you forgot you were the one who chose Jungkook as the heir of Crimson. He is the CEO now. Wake up."
Kang wasn't the kind of person to hear someone talk shit about him. In his eyes, Jungkook becoming the CEO was a good thing. He was a smart, young man who never learned to fail. Yet, why would he tolerate rubbish about him?
So, with one last glare, his hand lifted and before Zia could even move a muscle, he slapped her. She stumbled near the wall to keep herself from falling. Her cheek got a fresh new cut the impact of the ring in Kang's finger.
He moved further and dragged her upstairs. His hand gripped tightly on her wrist, not noticing the white bandage already wrapped there.
"Let go you bastard!!" She yelled at him.
But he wasn't a week player. Kang has controlled her every time she refused to do his work. This wasn't new, for both of them. Just that, for Kang it was getting Zia agree for his work; and for Zia, it was being tortured till she has no other choice than giving in.
He pushed her in a small room at the end of the hallway. A small, dark room. No window, no lights. It was dark for a reason. Zia was claustrophobic. He knows, her parents know and Jungkook does too. There's a small dark room even in her parents' house. Just in case she doesn't listen and needs to learn some lesson.
Jungkook had locked the room, the day he came to know how his uncle and Zia's parents use her fears to get their work done, for Crimson. He had never seen it, just heard about it from them.
But today, as if Kang planned had everything, the room was open, waiting for him to get Zia and lock her inside. He managed to get the key? Or maybe he decided to a spare key, just in case? Whatsoever he did, doesn't matter now.
"You thought you can fool me!?" Kang barked as he crouched down in front of Zia, who was in a halfway sitting position due to getting pushed too hard.
Zia looked at him, perplexed.
What is he talking about?
"Don't you dare utter a single word!!" He grabbed her hair, "I know you're pregnant! You'll always be the SLUT you are!! Fucking around with different men!"
He pushed her harshly, making her bump her head on the floor. The man stood up to leave to room. But not before kicking her one last time. He slammed the door close and locked it, leaving the girl banging hard on the door and crying to let her out.
-----------------
Jungkook stepped out of the building with a brown envelope in his hand. He had been previously looking at it like his life depends on the paper inside. He had a sincere smile playing on his lips. For the first time in the last few years, he felt like he was doing right.
He placed the envelope near the stereo and drove off. The ride will be a little longer than usual as the Park Mansion is farther than his place from the HQ building.
Earlier in his office, he had ordered some of his men to look up for Kim Taehyung. To his surprise, everything seemed as if it was already planned. Taehyung has withdrawn the VIP membership, ending the contract a few days before Zia attempted the suicide. All his contact numbers and email addresses aren't reachable. And he even moved away from Seoul. Not a coincidence.
Jungkook somewhere still had the guilt, so he decided to make it up for the misery Zia had to live in. He cannot reverse the awful events, nor can he manage to apologize for everything- because there are just so many things. But he will do what he can do, get her out of this.
He wished he'd have done that earlier. None of this would've happened then.
The black SUV soon stopped. The sky was gleaming in orange, yellow, red and little bit of blue with the sun setting down. It looked as if an artist wanted to paint something big, so he scattered all his colors beautifully on the sky, leaving little gaps for the clouds.
He headed inside to meet Zia- Jimin. To meet Jimin. The moment he entered the place, he felt his stomach tying into knots. He didn't manage to gather enough courage to meet Zia after that day. The day she told them how Crimson, and deep somewhere Jungkook too, was responsible for her not wanting live.
"Ah Jungkook-ah!"
Jimin came downstairs. Jungkook smiled at him, while holding the envelope firmly in his right hand.
The older one noticed but decided not to ask. He thought it would be better if Jungkook told him himself.
"What brings you here?" He asked smiling at the younger male.
"Uh hyung, I wanted to..show you this."
Jungkook handed the envelope to his hyung. Jimin hesitated at first, but eventually opened it. He pulled out the papers after glancing at Jungkook, who was busy fiddling with his fingers.
"Jungkook, what is this?"
Jimin frowned. The smile from earlier, now disappeared making the latter nervous. Did he do something wrong?
"Why? Did I do something wrong hyung? I just wanted to say sorry to Zia. And I thought, this is the best way..."
Jimin kept silent, staring at the papers. But soon Jungkook realised Jimin's expression soften. His eyes glistened with tears. Happy tears.
"Thank you Jungkook-ssi. She deserves it." Jimin said and hugged the latter.
Jungkook sighed in relief. Jimin scared him to death for a moment.
"Trust me Kook, she's really lucky she met someone like you." The older confessed.
Jungkook shook his head, "no hyung. She's lucky that she met you. I just hurted her at every step, like a fool. And now that I'm in my senses I need to make it up for that. I really hope she can forgive me. But I know its hard." He said, not once bothering to look up and make an eye contact with Jimin.
Jimin what he was trying to do. He didn't wanted his Jimin hyung to see him cry again. Two days ago, he had cried his heart out in front of Jimin while telling his side of the story.
"She will forgive you. You deserve her forgiveness the way she deserves your apology." Jimin patted Jungkook's shoulder, making him smile and finally meet his eyes.
"Hyung can you give it to her for me?" Jungkook asked.
"What no! Why do you want me to give it ti her? You should do it yourself!" Jimin encouraged the latter.
"But hyu-"
"No buts!" Jimin interrupted, "You're giving it to her. That's it! She'll be happy if you do it Kook-ah." Jungkook nodded hesitantly, "Go now. Hurry up!" Jimin pushed him gently.
"What do you mean? She isn't here?" Jungkook asked with a frown.
"No, she said she should go back to your place cuz you were alone and also if Kang visited, he'd be mad." Jimin informed.
"Why did you let her go?" Jungkook asked desperately. He knew Kang wanted to meet her.
"She didn't listen to me. She said it would be bad if media got any hint of her being here."
Jungkook nodded. Right, it would be very bad if they started any rumors at this point. Scandals aren't nice to handle. They remember how disturbing last time was. His hand made its way to his pocket fishing out his phone. Kang...
"Oh hello son." He heard Kang say, in his usual cocky voice.
"Where are you?" Jungkook asked.
"Oh-oh I see you're getting smarter huh?" Kang mocked.
"Jus- Where are you?" Jungkook asked again, trying to keep up with his composure and tone.
"At your place."
Jungkook's breath hitched, he heard him click his tongue.
"Your girl is creating problems. We need to talk. Get here quick." Kang said monotonously before hanging up.
"Shit!" Jungkook cursed as he panicked.
"What happened?" Jimin asked.
"Kang...he's there, with Zia. H-he said she's creating problems. He definitely did something hyung." Jungkook told the older, starting to walk out.
Jimin followed behind. Both males rushed into the car and drove off, mentally praying for Zia to be fine. Jimin had his fist clenched, his nails dug into his palms making it look white. And Jungkook firmly held steering wheel.
-----------------
"Oh Mr. Park?" Kang raised his brows. "What brings you here?"
Jimin glared at him, "Where's Zia?" He spoke with annoyance evident in his speech.
"She's here. Don't worry, she's just learning her lesson. You know, I have to take care of her like little children sometimes." Kang laughed as if everything was very genuine.
"Please have a seat. Jungkook bring your friend in." He said gesturing towards the couch where he sat initially with a cup of coffee in his hand.
"Shut up. I'm not here to listen to any of your nonsense. Where is Zia?" Jimin grabbed his colar aggressively and spoke through gritted teeth.
Kang didn't seem to be bothered by how Jimin was holding him. He still maintained his calm posture. Jungkook eyed him suspeciously, right then it hit him.
"Hyung I know where she is!"
Jungkook rushed upstairs and Jimin followed soon after pushing the old man away.
They reached the last room, right at the end of the hallway. Jungkook twisted the knob. But the door is locked. He nodded at Jimin, 'this is it'.
"Zia? Are you there?" Jungkook asked leaning towards the door to hear any sound, though he didn't get a response.
"Zi?" Jimin called. "Champ, are you in there?"
They didn't hear a thing, but their insights said she was inside the room. So, the two took a step back and pushed it with their shoulders in sync. The door flung open after exact three attempts. The small, dark room revealed behind the door.
