Chapter 07

...

Silence. That's all Namjoon wass confronting right now. He was not the only person in the building, there were people busy with their work. Rushing here and there, some had papers or files in their hands and some were busy with their phone, either texting or on call.

Namjoon shifted, making himself comfortable on the couch lying in the waiting area. His eyes roamed all across the place, observing the details. That's when he noticed a man walking in the waiting area. Not sparing a single glance at him, the man sat at the extreme right of couch. Everything was normal except the way the man continuously tapped his left foot on the floor. He looked impatient about something.

Namjoon looked at him through the corner of his eyes, not wanting to look like a freak staring directly at him. After a few minutes the man stood up and walked towards the elavator.

Namjoon's trail of thoughts was pulled back into reality when he heard his phone ring.
He answered the call once he saw the caller id.

"Hello"

"Yes"

"Okay thanks."

Namjoon straightened himself as the call ended and walked to the elavator.

He stepped inside and pressed the button '3'. A tinging sound was heard, indicating he reached the 3rd floor. Just as Namjoon was about to head out, the same man from the waiting area stood in front of him. Namjoon looked at him for a second, the man stepped aside and in the elavator. What Namjoon missed was the subtle smirk on the man's face;

___

"Any information?" The male voice entered Namjoon's ears.

The older male kept rocking on his chair back and forth facing the wall. He was hoping for a  genuine answer from Namjoon.

"I'm working on it. Don't worry." Namjoon replied with a confident smile.

The chair's rocking stopped and turned around just to meet a confident looking Namjoon standing there. Yoongi raised his eyebrow.

"You know we don't have time right?" He asked calmly.

"I know. I'm on it. I'll get the man soon." Namjoon assured.

Yoongi sighed and nodded.

"I hope you can prove what you said." Yoongi said. He sounded a little challenging.

"Are you doubting me?" Namjoon cocked an eyebrow at the older one.

"Well, not yet. But you better buck up to keep it that way." Yoongi said monotonously.

Namjoon didn't say anything at that. What was he even supposed to say?  Only that he looked a tiny bit disappointed by the words Yoongi chose to say. But he had known Yoongi for quite a long time now. He knew Yoongi can get super cold when he's having trouble getting what he wants. He was just as stressed. So not taking anything to heart, Namjoon left Yoongi's office. Back to work.

Yoongi took the file that Namjoon left. It had the information Namjoon collected about Hanjae. Yoongi was confused as Namjoon was one of his best agents. And Hanjae is really something if Namjoon himself can't get to him.

According to the written information, he wasn't that rich. He had a job of a servant in Kim Hotels, which he lost later as there was a pitition signed against him by a guest.

"He's not rich. That means no one else can be helping him for money. He's probably on his own." Yoongi mumbled to himself.

Further the file read, Hanjae is a single child and is married. He has a 12 year old son and a 9 year old daughter. His mother died due to cancer and father was an alcoholic who died in a car crash. In short his family seems normal.

"Why is he doing all of this then?"

-------

"Wait" The manly voice said "Jungkook and Zia. Rest of you, please proceed." He said motioning his hand towards the door.

Zia looked at the old man a bit confused. As he stood straight shoving his hands in his pockets either side. The meeting was over and there was no particular reason to make her and Jungkook stay.

The people left, leaving only three behind. Jungkook, Zia and Kang.

"What now?" Zia asked.

Kang gave a her a look before proceeding to explain the real cause of making them stay.

"As you both know there's a party on Friday, which is in three days from today. There will be many businessmen and other reputed personalities. What I want from both of you is, present like a decent couple." He stopped to take a look of their reactions. Both Zia and Jungkook gave him a perplexed look. Ofcourse it wasn't a good idea to make them appear like a couple.

He continued when he didn't get any words from their side "You don't have to go around kissing or anything. Just, Jungkook behave like a gentleman and Zia, stay with him and follow what he says. I don't want any nuisance there. That's all I had to say, you can go now."

Kang lifted his hands in the air as he gestured that they were free to go. Zia stormed out of the room shooting one last glare at Kang. Jungkook too left shortly after her. The kind of innocent look on Kang's face was replaced by a smirk.

We're going to have a huge profit

He thought as his smirk grew.

Zia walked to the parking area followed by Jungkook. Her chest kept rising and falling due to the rage filled in each of her breaths.

Not saying any word, Jungkook went straight to the car and started the engine. He stared nowhere but ahead of himself while waiting for Zia to get in, which she did.

The ride today was abnormally fast, as what Zia felt. She glanced at Jungkook to see what's gotten into him. He was definitely angry. Although his expression was calm and composed. He was angry.

And she could care less. What can be so bad right? In the worst case scenario, the speeding car might crash and maybe they'd die. No, that's not the worst case. The worst case would be, when they...or when Zia survives the car crash.

"Stop staring at me." Jungkook said  in a raspy voice while glaring at Zia.

That's when Zia was pulled out of her trans. She was startled by the sudden eruption of voice next to her.

"Well if you wanna die so bad, do it when you're alone." Zia spoke.

"Why? Don't you wanna end all this too?" He asked sarcastically earning a glare from the girl.

"You're enjoying this, aren't you? The meeting, me staying with you, the party....all of this!!" She was now very close to yelling.

Jungkook laughed dryly and nodded "Ofcourse! why wouldn't I enjoy seeing such a beautiful face struggling so much!" He stopped to look at the girl and continued "And you know what? No matter how much anyone tries to help you. Your ungrateful ass won't ever see it! That's the reason even your parents don't love you!" He said clicking his tongue in disgust.

Zia had no words now. She just stared at him for a second before finally turning to other side to look outside the window.

Jungkook himself had no idea of what he said. He was furious and lost control. It was his fault. He looked to his side, at Zia, just to see if she was crying. But to his surprise, her expression was blank. No tears, no hurt, no anger. Just nothing.

How?

Maybe she was used to this? Maybe was she was more frequently hurt? Maybe she was just good at hiding her emotions? Maybe she doesn't feel anything? Or maybe, just maybe Jungkook was right?

Soon enough, the car pulled in front of a big house. Jungkook's house. Their home.

They entered the house and went to respective rooms. None of them broke the defening silence.

After what seemed like half an hour, Jungkook was the only one sitting at the dining table for dinner. Even he had lost his appetite thanks to Kang and also a little bit contribution through Zia. But he needs to eat, he hasn't eaten anything since morning. The maids were quietly serving the food to him when he told one of them to yo and call Zia.

"Sir, we did. She said she's not hungry." The maid replied.

"Just go and call her." He ordered.

The maid nodded and left.

Jungkook sighed as he looked at the perfectly cooked beef on his plate. Everything around him appeared with two sides. A bright one and a dark one. One side where things are positive and the other where things are negetive. One side  which the world saw and the other side which he saw.

Footsteps approaching the dining area snapped him out of his thoughts. As the maids were still there, Zia gave a him a 'what do you want?' look.

"Come, sit." He said calmy gesturing towards the seat across him.

Zia was just about say something when realization hit her. And she changed her words.

"You all can go." She said, talking to the maids.

"But Miss your fo-"

"I'll manage." She said cutting the maid off.

The maids bowed and left. Now only Jungkook was there with her.

"This wasn't necessary." He sighed.

"Oh so you wanted to me insult you in front of the maids?" Zia said sarcastically.

Jungkook glared at her but kept himself cool "you can never talk like a normal person, can you?"

"Only when th-"

she was about to have a comeback at that but before she can even continue Jungkook interrupted her.

"What I called you here for is, to eat. So just sit and have dinner."

Zia looked at him, slightly squinting her eyes. What is this guy made of? One second he acts like a complete jerk and now, he's trying to act caring?

"I'm not hungry." She stated a lie. How can anyone not be hungry when they haven't eaten anything since last night. She didn't even had breakfast. Just to avoid Jungkook she leaves early. And the boy knew this very well.

"I didn't ask. I told you to sit. And Eat." He said making each word sound clear.

"You-"

"Don't make me force you." He warned.

At this point, Zia couldn't help but take a seat. Jungkook's eyes followed Zia's every move. And for a split second, there was a minor change in the way he looked at her.

For that tiny time period, Zia didn't anger him, she didn't look like the fiesty one. Instead she looked vulnerable, fragile, soft, beautiful and what not.

Jungkook snapped back as he reminded himself that he isn't supposed to look at her that way. The whole dinner time, they didn't utter a word.
