Chapter: 06
.....
"Hyung, you know I have an early morning flight tomorrow, still you called me to meet up. And that too...here?" Jimin asked as soon as he saw Yoongi waiting for him outside the gate.
Although his mind was yelling inside, telling him to leave this place. It was for sure, that once he steps inside the mansion, his body and mind won't react very positively.
"I know Jimin. But its important, I think we can find something about Han-jae here." He confessed.
Jimin took a moment to respond. He stared at his hyung's eyes, digging in for a clue of what he was thinking. If it was any other person in the world, Jimin would've easily understood what the person was thinking just by looking at their expression, specially eyes. But this was Yoongi, Min Yoongi, who was an atrosiously mysterious person. No one ever really managed to comprehend what he was up to.
"We can dig in for some CCTV information." He told and Jimin simply nodded understanding the plan. Yoongi lead the way as he knew Jimin would never. Jimin saw this subtle gesture very considerate of Yoongi.
Soon they were standing before multiple screens playing vedio futages of different parts of the big mansion. They were in the basement of the place.
They kept searching and going through different things, files and folders, hoping they would find something relevent. And luckily Yoongi did got something. Its wasn't a vedio clip, but a photograph.
The picture wasn't in the best condition. It had folds and the color too was a little faded. But it was enough for a person to understand the content shown. There was a person, wearing all black, who seems to be holding a camera or something...not really clear. The person's face wasn't visible. But where he stood was completely predictible. They knew this room.
"Jimin, I think you should go now. Its getting late." Yoongi suggested.
Jimin checked the time. 10:04 pm... It was indeed getting late.
"Yeah, but aren't you going home?" He asked.
"I'll go, but I have something to take care of first. Don't worry. I'll get this man and make sure he doesn't let out anything." Yoongi assured.
Jimin nodded "thanks hyung."
Yoongi smiled in return, but his smile soon dropped. "Did you tell Zia about going to Japan?" He asked.
"Uh no, not yet." Jimin replied. He actually didn't know how to tell Zia. Its not like she'd ask him not to go or anything. But still.
"You should tell her." Yoongi suggested.
Jimin simply nodded, not having anything to say.
__
Jimin was driving back home. Not many vehicles were seen at this hour. He wanted to call Zia and tell her that he has to leave tomorrow. But something inside him made him want to stay. He wasn't sure if it was his subconscious or if he was simply assuming things.
"Argh!" He groaned. Before anything he knew he has to call Zia and tell her.
He stopped the car in the middle of nowhere, pulling out his phone.
She didn't answer. This made Jimin frown.
Why is she not answering?
*Ring* *Ring*
Zia called him in a few seconds. He took a sigh of relief and answered.
"Hey Zia"
"...Jimin, why'd you call?" She asked. There was a moment of silence before her voice erupted. As if she took the moment to carefully listen to Jimin's soft voice.
"Ah well, I have something to tell you." Jimin said.
"What is it?" She asked casually.
"I have to go to Japan due to some work...And I'm leaving tomorrow." He said slowly.
Jimin waited for Zia to say something but she didn't. The line was quiet. But they both knew that the other one was still present there. Jimin heard Zia sigh...
"How long?" She asked.
"A week..." He replied
Jimin pursed his lips into a thin line and closed his eyes. Only if he was with his best friend right now.
"Zi..." Jimin whispered with a tender voice.
Zi... Many people would think its cute to have nicknames for each other. But this was more than just a nickname. This was his way of comforting her. A shorter, easier and more effective way of saying 'its okay Zia, I'm here for you. You're not alone. I love you.'
As cliché as it sounds, it really helps her through, when Jimin calls her Zi..so softly, so lovingly. As if he's there to embrace her in his warmth. To carress her gently and tell her that everything will be fine, maybe not now, maybe not soon, But it will be fine. Only Jimin and Zia understood the strong meaning of the nickname he gave to her...Zi
"G-Good luck...with your work there..." She said breaking the silence.
"Hmm" he responded faintly "thank you and remember-"
"That you love me. I know and I love you too." She said completing his sentence.
Jimin chuckled a little before saying "Right"
"Okay bye. I'm-" Zia said.
"Zia are you okay?" He asked cutting Zia in mid sentence. Something inside him made him question that out of nowhere.
"...yeah I'm okay. Why did you ask that all of a sudden?" She replied after a pause. And that was it, he got his answer.
"Where are you?" Jimin asked almost immediately, not listening to Zia's question.
"At home... Why are asking all that?" She said nervously.
"Zia" He spoke, "That's not the complete thing."
"Why are you-"
"You're with Jeon right?" His words came out with a thick coating of concern.
Zia didn't speak. Only her shaky breathing was heard on the line. Jimin closed his eyes, throwing his head back. This is what he feared. For what Jimin knows, Jeon Jungkook is a complete jerk who wouldn't hesitate to hurt people. But will he hurt Zia?
"Speak up." Jimin said more like demanding a reasonable answer from the girl.
"Yes I'm here with Jeon. Why are you acting like that? Its not like I'm living here for the first time." Zia finally said a bit irritated.
"Zi... You know I was just worried for you. He's not the kind of man you'd want to be around." He said genuinely concerned.
"N-no...I'm sorry. I didn't mean to talk to you like that. I'm really sorry." She said, her voice lowered gradually as she spoke the whole thing.
"Hey, its okay. You don't have to be sorry to me. I'll never be mad at you. You're my champion right?" Jimin said softly.
Champion. Because he believed she was a fighter. And she always gave her hundred percent to fight everytime she had to.
"Mm-hmm" he heard "and I-I'll miss you.."
Jimin smiled and said "I'll miss you too. Go and sleep now. Good night."
"Good night."
Keeping his phone down, Jimin breathed a sigh of relief. It felt like a weight was lifted off of his shoulders, not completely though. Zia is with Jeon. Staying positive and wishing for the best was all he can do.
The engine started and the black sedan drove away. The small break on Jimin's way back was worth everything. Turning the steering wheel left after a few minutes, he reached his destination. His home, although it never really felt like home. But that's what you call the place where you live right?
Home is where you feel safe, loved, wanted and cared for. Its not simply a house or a mansion. Its the feeling you get when you're with your loved ones.
Yeah that's exactly what his mother taught him. The old mansion was once his home. He felt all kinds of feelings his mother mentioned there. Jimin had never imagined that the place where he grew up, will one day become the place he'd be haunted by.
Not having any other option, he decided to sell the mansion. Now selling it to any random person wasn't affordable. The mansion held secrets. Min Yoongi, being the only trusted person, had to buy the mansion. This way, controversies were avoided, Jimin hadn't had to live with the nightmares and their thing was kept confidential.
Both of them thought it would be the end. Who knew all the dark secrets of the past would one day be dug this badly?
