Present Day
Present Day-Near Skid Row . . .
"Mom, we're home!" Dillon shouted now sixteen, walking into the one bedroom apartment with his 10 year old little sister.
"The church gave us more food today. We got Baby Yoda cereal in one of the bags.” Bella admitted.
“Yummy Mommy! What’s for dinner?” Alieen asked, smiling innocently
"The nice lady at the church made your favorite mac and cheese casserole." Bella said, serving it on three plates.
"Yay! It looks great!" Alieen said. She put three forks on the table, while her brother got the water bottles. They were cheaper in the long run, because the water bill would be cheaper each month.
Bella put the plates on the table, before sitting down with her children, starting to eat. She had sent out a resume to many different companies, and one of them had finally responded. It was one of the better paying companies, one that she hadn't expected to hear back from, which made her hopeful.
"Did anything fun happen at school today?" Bella asked, smiling at her children.
"Well, I met this new guy at school. I forgot to ask his name, but, he's really nice, and he's in a lot of my classes. " Dillon admitted, blushing slightly.
"Did you get his number?" Bella asked.
"I got shy and said that my phone stopped working. He gave me his number though. " Dillon admitted.
"You might not have to worry about that soon. A company is interested in my resume, and they offered me a pretty great position. " Bella admitted.
"Really Mom? That's great!" Dillon exclaimed.
"Does this mean that we can get a new outfit?" Alieen asked. She had grown up grateful for what little they did have, because of her mother and brother.
Bella giggles lightly. " You might even be able to get a new doll if we're lucky." She said.
"Good luck Mommy. You'll do great this time." Alieen admitted, smiling at her.
"Thanks sweetie! " Bella said, grateful for her daughter.
"No problem. Dillon, do you need help cleaning up tonight?" Aileen asked.
"I've got it sis. You go do your homework, and Mom and I can help you if you need it." Dillon said, starting to clean up the table.
"Alright. I have Math and English tonight. " Aileen admitted, getting her binder out.
"You might have to ask your brother for help with the math, but I can help you with the English if you need it. " Bella said.
"Thanks Mommy. It's a worksheet on subjective and objective." Alieen said, writing her name and date on the paper.
"Why don't you try it yourself, and skip the ones you have trouble with." Bella said. She gets out her phone, and decides to start researching the position, so she would be prepared for the interview.
The next day- Around almost 3 o'clock, in Hollywood . . .
"Crap . . . I can't be late . . .I promised them that I would pick them up as soon as the interview was over, so we could celebrate with ice cream . . ." Bella said, talking to herself as she looked at her phone, noticing the time.
Suddenly, she bumped into someone, and dropped what she had been holding.
"Hey! What was th-," a man started to ask, annoyed at first,"are you alright Miss? I'm so sorry!" the man said, immediately helping Bella gathering her things, helping her up.
"You don't have to apologize. I'm the one that was looking at their phone, instead of watching where they were going. Thank you for helping by the way. " Bella said, grateful for the stranger.
"It's fine. I could tell that you're in a hurry. Speaking of which, do you need a ride? My name's Amil. " the man said, smiling as he introduced himself.
"That would be great actually. I was planning on walking to my kids schools to pick them up, because I haven't been able to afford a car in 8 years. That's the reason I'm here. I had an interview. My name's Bella." Bella said. For some reason, she felt like she could be honest with him.
"Do you mind telling me your last name? I want to make sure I hire the right Bella." Amil admitted. He starts walking to the car with her, a smile on his face.
"Bella Cassidy. Wait, are you Amil, as in Amil Jones?" Bella asked.
"I don't want to scare you away, but yes, I am. I grew up poor, and we couldn't afford groceries, so we'd get food from the churches once or twice a month. Sixteen years ago, I started my company, in the hopes that I could give poor people jobs, so they could support their families, but, over the years, this turned into a company for rich people. But now? Hiring you has given me hope for the future of this company. " Amil said.
"Woah, you're so much nicer than I imagined. Too bad we work together, otherwise I'd ask you out. " Bella admitted, giggling as she got into the limo, after he opened the door for her.
"Have people started spreading that Beast rumor about me again?" Amil asked, chuckling lightly. "Tell you what. As your boss, I say we break my rule about employees being in relationships with each other. Will you go on a date with me Friday night?" He asked, as he brushed Bella's hair behind her ear.
THE END
Or is it . . .?
