Do You Love Me?

Cody headed into the house with an armload of cut timber hoping Fin had had enough space. He threw the wood into the box and found her on the bed with the vampire book.

"I found your name, Cody." Fin sat and grinned at him.

He smiled. She seemed as normal as anything.

"I wanted to tell you yesterday but you got angry. I found it and I read it all by myself. I'll show you." She flipped the pages.

Cody crawled onto the bed beside her. He hadn't thought about her connecting the two. It hadn't even entered his mind that he'd taken his surname from this book.

"See. Look. Compton. C..o..m..p..t..o..n. It was easy to sound out."

"That's great, Fin. You're getting better."

"Yeah, I know." She lay beside him and handed him the book. "Will you read me some, Cody?"

He took the book from her, closed it, threw it on the floor and pulled her close. "Not now." He ran his hand over her head and pushed her hair behind her ear. "I've thought about what you said. If we have a baby, I'd like it very much. I'd take care of you and the baby. Maybe we'd go and meet my family and we'd get married. If you wanted."

"I'm scared, Cody," she whispered. "Do you love me, because only people who love each other should make babies?"

"Yes. I love you, Fin. You've been in my head since I first saw you." He smiled and swept his hand through her hair. "I didn't even see your face that day." Cody concentrated on her eyes. "Do you love me?"

"I don't know. I like the way you treat me and your face and body. The sound of your voice and the way you make me laugh. I like everything about you but don't know what it feels like to love someone." She glanced away and then back again. "I don't think I love my father but worry about him. I don't know anyone except Snake, Mister Sagus and a few others. They don't hold me like you. They aren't nice to me like you. You make me feel good and safe. I like being here. I don't want to go back to my father. Is that love, Cody?"

He kissed her on the mouth and caressed her cheek with his hand. "It sounds pretty close to me, Fin because that's how I feel about you."

She smiled. "You kissed me."

"Yeah, I did." Cody laughed. "Can I do it again? I won't rush, Fin. I won't make love with you until you want me to but, I'd like to hold and kiss you."

Fin touched her lips to his in answer. She'd let him do all those things. If she got scared, she knew he'd stop.

As his lips moved on hers Fin mimicked his action. She liked the feel of it. Silky and warm. She felt his hand move up her leg and under her shirt. His hand was rough from working. It felt good on her skin. Sensations fluttered in her stomach. Fin murmured and ran her hand over Cody's body like he was doing to hers. His breathing changed. She tensed when he touched her breast with his fingers. A shard of sensation shot to her lower stomach.

Fin pulled her mouth away from his and sucked in a breath. "It feels funny." She smiled "It feels nice, Cody."

Cody put his forehead on hers. "Yeah... it does feel nice." He kissed her again and ran his hand down her back to her backside, over her stomach and between her thighs. Fin jerked backwards.

"No. I don't want you to do that."

"It'll feel nice. I promise. I won't hurt you."

"I don't want you to do it."

Cody sighed and kissed her forehead. "Okay. I won't do it." He held her close and said, "You better cook me those eggs. Maybe we could walk to the creek because if we stay here like this, I'll want to keep touching you."

"You're not angry that I said no?"

Cody smiled and kissed her again. He climbed off the bed and pulled her to her feet. "No, I'm not angry."

Fin's not quite ready for the big moment.
I'm so glad they worked that out. ♥♥
