A/N: The chapters here now take place after the second season finale. The third season had a two year gap, so this takes place between that. Remember that now.

Kevin remembered when his father introduced him to Dick Grayson, Tyler Jones, Tim Drake, and Barbara Gordon. He swore to keep their alter egos a secret. He also befriended all of the young superheroes thst were dubbed "The Team." All of them became like family to Kevin. When Bruce wasn't being Batman, he would spend quality time with Kevin as father and son. Kevin attended Gotham University, and at the age of 17, was the youngest person to ever attend that college. He attended the college for two years and by the summertime, Kevin was finished with his junior year, highest grades in his classes. Kevin was now 18 going on 19. It had been a month since Wally West died. Dick had left The Team, but he would often visit the family on occasion. Especially since he and Tyler were in a committed relationship.

Kevin was sitting at the table with Bruce, Tyler, and Tim. They were all eating breakfast together. "Man, it's hard to believe I'm gonna be a senior in college soon," said Kevin. "I almost can't believe it either," said Bruce as he casually drank his coffee. Alfred sat next to everyone and said, "we're certainly proud of you Master Kevin."

"Thanks Alfred," said Kevin, "hey Tim, how are things with you and Cassie so far?" After Wally died, Tim and Cassie started a romantic relationship together. "Things are good," said Tim, "oh hey Kev, The Team's gonna be having a beach party at the beach where Mount Justice was. How would you like to come over and cook for us on Friday?" Kevin shrugged and said, "sure! Is Barbara gonna be there?" Tyler scoffed and said, "Barbara is part of the team. Of course she'll be there, you absolute Muppet!" Kevin blushed and chuckled, "okay. I'll be there." Suddenly, Kevin's cell phone rang and Kevin picked it up to see who it was. "Yello?" Kevin casually asked. The person on the phone was of course Barbara. She said, "Hey Kevin."

"Oh hey Barbara, good morning!" Kevin said jovially. "Morning to you too." Barbara replied on the phone, "hey... you think you can do me a favor?" Kevin cleared his throat and said, "sure, what's up?" Barbara said, "today's the day Zatanna's supposed to see her father again, and Artemis was supposed to accompany me so that we can comfort Zee. But it turns out Lian has a stomach bug, so Artemis is with Roy and Jade at the hospital to see if Lian is okay." Kevin gave a look of worry and said, "oh dear... I hope they're okay. I hope it's only a temporary thing..." Barbara replied on the phone, "me too Kev. Anyway, since Artemis will be absent, would you be willing to accompany me and Allan as we be there for Zee?" For those who don't know, Giovanni Zatara willingly gave himself over to Nobu, thus becoming the new Doctor Fate. However, Nobu was generous enough to give Giovanni and Zatanna at least one hour on one particular day together once a year. It was always personally hard on Zatanna. "I don't know who Allan is," said Kevin, "but I'll be there Barbara. What time should I meet at the Gotham Park?"

"1:30 p.m." instructed Barbara, "thanks for doing this, Kevin. I really appreciate this. And although Zee may not say it, she will appreciate your kindness." Kevin smiled and said, "alrighty. See you then Babs." Barbara replied on the phone and said, "bye Kevin." That's when Kevin hung up. "So yeah, looks like I got plans this afternoon," said Kevin. "It's good that you're showing comfort to Zatanna, son." Bruce said approvingly. "Well she only gets to see her father once a year," said Kevin, "I feel so bad for her." Soon the afternoon came and Kevin was all dressed up in some casual clothes one would usually wear in the summer time. He walked all the way to Gotham Park, seeing that it was a nice sunny day. "I think Babs and this Allan guy should be here by now," thought Kevin. Suddenly someone tapped behind Kevin's shoulder and enthusiastically said, "hey Kevin!" Kevin turned around and saw Barbara. She was wearing a purple t-shirt, blue shorts, and brown sandals. "Hey there Babs," said Kevin, "you look good." Barbara blushed and said, "thank you Kevin. You're not too shabby yourself. Anyway, I'd like you to meet a mutual friend of ours, Allan Morningstar." Next to her was a very tall man, standing at 6 ft 8. He had tan skin, long brown hair, brown eyes, he wore a white T-shirt, a black leather jacket, torn blue jeans, and black and white Vans. Kevin looked up at the tall man and asked, "you're... Allan?"

"Allan Morningstar, that's me," he replied, his voice sounding like Will Arnett. Kevin shook his hand and said, "nice to meet you Allan. I'm Kevin Beaumont. So, you're a mutual friend?" Allan shook Kevin's hand back and said, "well, I may have worked with Batman, Zatanna, and her dad on several supernatural cases. I'm good friends with Etrigan and John Constantine. I've heard a lot about you. College kid who's the son of Batman. They told me you're a nice guy." Yep, from the moment Allan met Kevin, he immediately liked him. "Your surname is a cool sounding name," said Kevin as they walked to the weeping willow, waiting for Zee. "I ain't much of a fan of my surname," said Allan. "Why's that?" Kevin asked. "That's because it's the surname of my father, Lucifer Morningstar," said Allan. Zatanna, wearing a yellow dress and black heels, walked in and Allan silently did the 3, 2, 1... motion to her. Zatanna knew what this meant, trying to keep a poker face. "Wait..." Kevin said in realization, "you mean... your dad is the big red guy with the horns? The- the-"

"The Devil? Yep, ol' Beelzebub. I'm the spawn of Satan himself," confirmed Allan, "but just to clarify, I'm not the Antichrist. And yeah I'm a demon, but I'm not evil." Kevin gave a flabbergasted look and asked, "you mean... you're a heroic demon, like Etrigan?" Allan nodded and said, "pretty much. I became a rebellious demon before the American Revolution, and I've been doing good for many centuries. Side note, I'm like Kenny, I can't freaking die! Been barred from Hell because my dad doesn't like me being a hero." Zatanna smiled and said, "but you certainly look good for your age." Kevin looked amazed and said, "wow. I can see why people would want to hang around you Allan." Allan then said, "yeah, I might be friendly... but my sister? I'd stay away from her if I were you. She would not like you." Kevin chuckled and said, "I'll remember that." That's when Dr. Fate flew in. "Child of magic," he said in an unemotional voice. He looked at Allan and nonchalantly said, "Allan." The demon said, "what's up doc?" Dr. Fate did not laugh. Then again, Doctor Fate was not known for his sense of humor. "You know the letter of agreement?" Fate asked Zatanna. "Yes, of course," she replied, "one hour, same as last year, and the year before that." She sounded reluctant. "Be grateful that Nobu is allowing you this time at all," said Fate, then he took off the helmet, becoming Giovanni Zatara once more. His hair and beard were gray, and his costume changed to a magician's tuxedo. "Hello Zatanna," he said, smiling. His voice was kind and warm, unlike Dr. Fate's. Zatanna smiled and said, "Daddy..." Barbara teared up. Even Kevin was getting choked up. Giovanni looked at Allan and said, "ah, hello Allan."

"Hey Giovanni," said Allan, "I know you've met Barbara Gordon before, but I'd like to introduce you to Bruce's son, Kevin Beaumont." Giovanni shook Kevin's hand and said, "nice to meet you Kevin. You look just like your father." Kevin smiled and said, "nice to meet you as well, Mr Zatara, sir." The rest of the hour though, was silent. Allan tried to break the tension by saying, "did I ever tell you guys about the time I watched Rosemary's Baby and The Omen? I said that Omen was scary but not accurate, but my opinions regarding The Omen weren't as harsh as what I thought of with Rosemary's Baby." Giovanni chuckled, "scary but not accurate. That would make sense coming from you." Soon the hour came. "I'm sorry Zatanna," Giovanni sadly said as he hugged his daughter. Zatanna hugged back tightly. "Daddy, I don't want you to go," she said, tearing up, "it's not enough time..." Giovanni let go and said, "I know. But if we do not reach the line of agreement, Nobu will not give us another chance like this." He picked up the helmet and said, "I'll see you next year, Zatanna. I love you." He then put the helmet back on, turning back into Dr. Fate. The Doctor looked at Zee unsympathetically, and used his magic to disappear back into the House of Order. Zatanna then stared into nothing but the park, and dropped to the ground, bursting into tears. Barbara and Allan got on their knees and hugged the crying Zatanna. "Hey, it's okay Zee..." Allan softly said, running circles between her back. Kevin joined Allan and Barbara in hugging Zatanna. Zee hugged Allan the tightest. She cried her eyes out until she could cry no more. All of this made Kevin think about his future and his family, and the future he would want with Barbara in his life.
