After Kevin was rescued, Tyler hacked into Moreau Cosmetics and found the security footage, including the footage of Kevin transforming into a Lion Man. The footage looked like something out of a horror film directed by Dan Attias with special effects done by someone like Rick Baker or Stan Winston. But Bruce used this footage and Kevin's recordings regarding the Splicing to expose Moreau Cosmetics to the media. Now the media knew of the cosmetic company's cruelty, its negative side effects, and what it can do to unwilling participants. As a victim of involuntary Splicing, Kevin vowed to speak out against the endeavour. All of this was brought to the attention of the dean of Kevin's college. He promised to accommodate several arrangements for Kevin until he was cured. It was now a week after Kevin started his investigation, and technically he was still on spring break. And now Kevin wanted to visit his girlfriend at the hospital. He walked on over to Gotham Hospital and went inside, headed towards the secretary's desk with a bouquet of flowers. He looked at the secretary and said, "uh... Hi... my name is Kevin Beaumont. I want to make a visit to Barbara Gordon, she's my girlfriend..." The secretary looked at Kevin and said, "oh yeah, you're that guy that got Spliced against his will... Real sorry to hear that... Miss Gordon's at room 359 on your right."

"Much obliged," thanked Kevin as he wandered around the hospital. Five minutes later, Kevin made it to room 359. He saw Barbara was sleeping in her bed, her father was sitting by her side. She looked peaceful. But seeing Barbara like this made Kevin sad. He walked in while holding the flowers. James eyed Kevin and stuttered out, "d-d-d-don't come any closer, you freak!" He was ready to pull out his gun when Kevin raised his hands in a non-hostile manner and pleaded, "Commissioner wait, it's me! It's Kevin Beaumont, I'm your daughter's boyfriend!" James immediately recognized Kevin's dark blue eyes and his mannerisms. "Kevin?" James asked, "oh dear... I'm really sorry... I'm on edge after everything that's happened... I didn't recognize you." Kevin placed the flowers on a table and said. "I understand your reaction Commissioner," said Kevin, "getting Spliced obviously did me no favors." He found a chair and sat down. "So that's why you were unable to call Barbara," deduced Jim, "you were tortured and Spliced."

"Pretty much," said Kevin, "I'm really sorry to hear about what happened to you and Barbara. If I'd known Joker was going to do this to Barbara, I would have said no to that investigation..." He held Barbara's hand. "I wish I could have been there, to prevent it from ever happening..." Kevin said, shedding tears as he felt nothing but guilt and sadness. "What happened to Barbara wasn't your fault Kevin," said Jim, "none of us expected this to happen. So don't blame yourself. Much as I want to blame myself, it won't accomplish anything. I appreciate that you're attempting to be there for my daughter in her most desperate time of need. You're still the good man I met that day. Don't ever lose hope Kevin Beaumont. You're the best of all of us." Kevin and Jim stayed in Barbara's room until visiting hours were over. "If Barbara wakes up, you'll be the first person I call to let you know," promised Jim. "Thank you Jim," said Kevin, "I appreciate that what with my studies and all. This is going to take a lot of adjusting." Jim nodded and said, "I agree. But we have to make the best of a situation. I just hope my daughter wakes up soon."
