Soon Friday came, and it was time to go to the beach. Specifically the beach where Mount Justice used to be. Mostly everyone was there, including Dick. Tyler was cuddling with him. The rest of the boys were messing around in the ocean. The rest of the girls were either playing volleyball or sunbathing. Kevin came over to visit, wearing some swimming trunks and sandals. He had an ice cooler with many cold drinks, frozen meats, and frozen treats. "Hey guys!" Kevin said enthusiastically, "I got patties, hot dogs, sodas, ice cream, and popsicles." Barbara was sunbathing with the girls when she heard Kevin's voice. Her attention turned to him with a smile on her face as she said, "that's great! Bart ate all the food and we ran out of drinks." She walked over to him, wearing nothing but a black and purple bikini. "Awesome," said Kevin, "looking good Babs. Care for a soda?" He set the large icebox down, opening it up. Barbara blushed at his complement and nodded. "Yeah, I could do with one, it's starting to get hot," she told him while smiling. Kevin got Barbara's favorite soda from the icebox and said, "I got you covered." He handed her the soda. Barbara thanked him with a smile. "So, when are you going to start the barbecue?" she asked him, trying to continue the conversation. "Oh, I'll probably start in a few minutes," said Kevin, "how have you been after our meeting with Zatanna?"

"I'm doing fine," said Barbara. Zatanna walked over to the two and said, "hey Kevin. Glad you made it. Thanks again for being there during this time." Kevin nodded and said, "no problem Zee. You're a reliable ally and a good friend to all of us. It's okay to lean on us every now and then. It makes our bond stronger." Barbara raised her soda and said, "wise words indeed, Kevin." She looked into his dark blue eyes. Kevin looked into her sky blue eyes. Barbara regained her composure and said, "uh Kevin... before you start cooking, perhaps you should get hydrated." Kevin nodded and said, "oh... right! Thanks Barbara!" He drank a bottle of ice cold water and said, "alright, who wants burgers and hot dogs?" Kevin cooked burgers and hot dogs for everyone, occasionally asking if anyone wanted cheese with their burgers.

Everyone ate, and Kevin joined in partying with them for hours. He played around in the ocean, drank soda, ate ice cream, and other stuff. It felt nice to take a break from college work for Kevin. It was now dusk, and Kevin and Barbara were wading in the water. Ever since they met, Kevin had always had a crush on Barbara. Kevin then asked, "hey Barbara, are you doing anything tomorrow night?" Barbara smiled and said, "well no. I can take a break from being Batgirl. What's up?" Kevin blushed and asked, "how would you like to come over to Wayne Manor and watch a movie with me?" Barbara wiggled her toes and asked, "what movie would we be watching?" Kevin casually said, "well, Tyler wants me to watch Hot Fuzz as Shaun of the Dead is the only film in Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg's Three Flavors of Cornetto Trilogy that I've seen. Tyler wants that to change."

"I see," said Barbara, "well I'd be more than happy to come over and watch Hot Fuzz with you." Kevin brightened up and said, "great! What time do you want to come over?" Barbara thought for a moment and then said, "how about 6 pm?" Kevin smiled and said, "thanks Barbara. Not to sound like a cheesy 80s film, but you're the best around." Barbara chuckled and said, "thank you Kevin. That's very sweet of you." And so their date was set.
