Happy Reading my darlings.
He watched as Elijah scrambled around, putting the sheaf of papers that had fallen in a black binder that had the logo of Bind Pharmaceuticals.
"You're confident we'll win?" Abdullah heard himself ask Elijah, though he felt nothing like failure, it didn't bode well to be over confident. A healthy dose of confidence and self awareness was the recipe for success.
"By God's grace sir. It should be a breezy win for us. And I spoke to the lawyers yesterday evening, they were optimistic. And we didn't show off the evidence of our former employee meeting up with their Nigerian CEO. We'll do that today." Abdullah nodded, a subtle feeling of ease came over his body and he leaned over to pick up his phone that had been placed on the table when he arrived.
Soon, they left the warm apartments and walked all the way to the carpark where the driver was waiting. From there, they were driven in a warm car to the main world headquarters of Henny Penn foods and pharmaceuticals, they went through the first few security checks, he watched as Elijah rolled his eyes to the high heavens many times in annoyance.
They soon reached the glass complex of the company, but his phone dinged as the driver stopped and someone from the driveway opened the door to Abdullah's side.
He got out, adjusted his coat before he pulled out his sleek phone from his pocket. It was a picture from his wife, he swiped both pictures that had been sent and swiped his thumb of the sun streaked picture of her hijab covered head. In a few swipes, he turned the very picture to his screensaver.
It felt so thrilling, to be able to do something so simple. He knew how it felt when Maymunatu turned a picture she had taken of him unaware as her screensaver, now the thrilling satisfaction was his to feel and he almost didn't know what to make of it.
He watched as Elijah carried the huge basket that had all the paperwork and files upon files and binders to where Abdullah and the rest of the team was waiting. They'd been talking amongst themselves without disturbing him and needing him for anything.
When Elijah pulled up the ramp handle of the huge basket and began pulling it through the main revolving doors of the organization. There were about three receptionists waiting to take them through to a new conference room since a Judge had now been invited. The case was going to be settled out of court but with a little twist, the proceedings were still recorded by a court clerk.
When they reached the conference room, their own french and German speaker, a Nigerian woman schooling at a university in Zurich. Abdullah had warned Elijah against using the court accorded interpreters for the proceedings as anyone could be bribed.
Once they got in, sat down, someone from the Bind Pharmaceuticals team passed round bottles of water they bought at a supermarket on their way there but not a sip of the water was to be taken, as they could be cornered in the toilets.
Elijah and a lawyer passed around nine translation headsets to the others who did not speak any language asides English. Abdullah took a look at the headset when he received it and placed it on the table.
The proceedings began a few minutes later when the judges and the court clerk walked in, being the high profile case that it was, Henny Penn headquarters decided to settle out of court, but also make sure the press didn't get a whiff of the proceedings. It was one of the things Bind Pharmaceuticals held over their heads and led to them making everything easy.
About four hours later, the proceedings were over and Abdullah Bindawa left the room with his party of ten with a settlement of ninety million dollars. The lawyers could scarcely believe it, they chattered on the elevator on their way to the carpark in surprise.
"Sir, I'm returning to Abuja immediately." Abdullah smiled and patted Elijah's arm, walking with him until he reached the car waiting for him.
"Do you want to wait till tomorrow? Maybe rest?" He laughed when Elijah shook his head like a rattle drum, very much convinced with his decision to leave Switzerland almost immediately.
"Since you don't want to spend the night, I'll see you in Abuja in three weeks. My wife and I will go to London for a bit before returning to Abuja." Elijah wished him a safe trip before getting into the idling car in front of Abdullah's car.

"I think this color suits you better than the green?" Abdullah went to the mirror and switched the lights around it on. He shook his head as he returned to his wife's side.
"I like both of them. Thank you so much, Qurratul Ayn." He watched as Nadia's slight smile turned bigger and reached her eyes. She nodded and clasped her hands in satisfied silence.
"I figured it would be nice to make this for you after learning how to do it." Abdullah walked back to the mirror and looked at every tapestry of the city of Paris she had made on his soft woolen cardigan and nodded.
"It's beautiful. If I pair this blue one with my dark blue trench coat, over blue slacks, it's going to be perfect." Abdullah said thinking of the sleeveless cardigan he had been made being a perfect accessory for his outfits. It was an extraordinary sky blue paired with white that came out beautiful.
"I think so too." He watched as his wife got up and smoothed out the bumpy ends. He took her soft fair hands, kissed the palm of each one before pulling her into himself. He had heard her say to someone on the phone that he was so considerate and kind, for a moment, all he ever wanted to be towards her was considerate and kind.
"Thank you so much for this. I love it so much and will wear it well, In Sha Allah." Abdullah felt Nadia nod against his chest and slowly pull off to say, "If you do well, I'll knit you a lap blanket." He raised a brow to her mock funny face, she looked like a little landlord.
"Is that my only reward? Just a lap blanket?" He heard her protest and pull her hands that were still in his from his grip.
"Do you know how many people want me to knit just a mere baby hat? You should be grateful." The smile on her face is a cocky one that made him want to kiss it off, but he stopped himself last minute.
He let go of her and walked to the bed where he had strewn clothes everywhere. He watched her leave the room to the closet to dress for their date while he placed the cardigans she knitted on the hanger in a safe way that wouldn't pull the soft wool before switching his cardigan to a thicker one that would confidently cover him from the biting chill.
He looked up to the sound of shoes clanking against the floor, when he saw Nadia appear, his jaw dropped in surprise. She was dressed in a brown and cream calf length knitted cardigan dress, it had a little slit that flashed the cream ankle boots she wore with it, she tied her brown silk scarf into a well pinned hijab that fell softly around her torso.
"You look stunning, Ma Sha Allah." He shook his head at the vision in front of him. He could almost scarcely believe that this woman has become his wife, had agreed to marry him and be by his side forever. It was almost unbelievable.
"Thank you, you think this doesn't make me look frumpy?" He saw her pull at the thick dress in uncertainty.
He sat on the bed and pulled her to stand in between his legs, then he made sure she was looking at him, "In this world, you're the most beautiful woman. This dress that I'm sure you painstakingly knitted by yourself is amazing on you. And, just so we're clear, you're never frumpy. Frumpy and every of those kind adjectives do not belong to you, I need you to stop using them to describe yourself." She giggled lightly, making him laugh as well.
"Your face is so serious." She said, pulling her hand out of his and smoothing his frowning face. He covered her hand with his for a moment before removing it to say,
"Promise me you won't call yourself frumpy anymore." She smiled at him, her dark brown eyes flashing with happiness before she nodded and promised.

"Abdullah, if I fall one more time we're going home. How can you not be able to hold me." Abdullah pulled them to a railing dusted with chalk to stop falling and held unto it before steadying his wife.
He wiped an imaginary sweat that made her even angrier. "I should have let you know we were coming to an ice rink, maybe you'd have watched a few videos or something." He laughed as she raised a hand and hit him in anger, he pulled on her angry hands and guided her to stand straight.
"You have to bend your hips, before your knees, if not, you'll just fall on your back." Nadia who had fallen more than a few times eyed him but she listened intently.
They'd arrived about an hour earlier for their two hour ice rink appointment, one hour later, Nadia hadn't agreed that she needed to bend her hips not her knees and had fallen a good number of times. Her teeth had been chattering with cold and excitement, but she had calmed and now generated her own body's heat.
Now their hands were joined and he slowly pulled her along, their joint ice skates made a dull noise on the dry icy floor that was made for skating. Several other people passed them, but he steadied his wife until she was able to move without him holding her two hands.
Soon, she adjusted herself with his tips and began to slowly glide on the ice by herself. He clapped his hands for a minute before rushing to steady her before she fell again. She burst into laughter in his arms, knowing that was a good split second from falling unto the cold floor.
"Thank you for this. I love it so much, I didn't think I could do this." He nodded, clearing his throat gruffly, he loved to do things for her. To see her face light up in happiness before she turned shy.
They slowly went round the ice rink a few more times before he pulled her to a side, they had to get lunch. He gestured for a staffer to open the small gate for them, led her out and gently pushed her to sit on the bench in front of rows of locked cupboards where they'd secured their shoes. He pulled the key out of his pocket and opened up a door, pulled out his wife's shoes and set them near her feet, brought out his and set them down too before shutting the door and sitting down.
He lifted Nadia's small feet unto his feet and quickly eased the skates off. The heat of the changing room was turning the ice on the skates into a watery puddle. He patted her socked foot and their eyes met when he raised his head. A tingle passed through him, making him shiver slightly, he had lowered his head to process his feelings but when he raised his head again, he found out that she had been watching him as intently as well.
Changing his own shoes took less than a minute and soon they were out of the ice rink arena, they reached their car in no time since there was no valet Parking like Abdullah would have liked. He touched the keypad of the four wheel drive that was appropriate for the gathering snow and went to Nadia's door to open it for her.
He let her get in, sit down and adjust her seatbelt before he shut the door and went to his own side.
"My personal shopper is waiting for us, I need a new set of outfits for work, I mostly wear Nigerian made but I'd like a change for a minute." Nadia chortled, making him look at her.
"What?" She made that mocking sound once more, so he gave her a few more glances. She assumed a prideful expression before saying "Of course it's because you're trying to impress me. I like my men in navy blue, brown and grey suits, navy blue kaftans with the loveliest blue thread cap to match."
He shook his head at her, focusing on the slick expanse of road before them, "Which other men do you have?" His heart suddenly beat as he asked her. It seemed like a funny question but he was genuinely worried.
"Keanu Reeves, Jason Mamoa, Lee min ho." Abdullah shook his head again, this time he was shaking with laughter.
"Oh you're there laughing? Continue, wait till you see me on a date with my crush, then you'll realize." His light laughter turned to a full blown one that his wife finally joined in, even as they stepped out of the car for the valet to park it, they were still laughing.
He watched as she shifted her bag higher on her shoulder before looking around in wonder. He leaned down and whispered to her, "where should we go first?"
She turned to look at him from top to bottom with her eyes questioning even before she said her question out loud, "But your shopper is waiting? I want to see you model clothes for me."
He almost couldn't walk from how deeply he laughed. He stopped walking and let out another deeply moving laugh.
"Ya Allah, I've gone and married a woman who wants to see me wear new clothes." Her light chortle was what she responded with. He took her left hand in his and they climbed into the elevator and he watched as Nadia subtly danced to the elevator music, a droopy sound that made him want to sleep was what his wife danced to.
They got out of the elevator and were greeted by Abdullah's personal shopper, a young man in his early thirties. He whispered to Nadia who asked who the man was, "That is Abdul Aziz, he's the son of my mother's personal shopper. I've known him since he was a baby. This is our first rodeo together, if it works out, I might have him on my payroll." Nadia pinched him and as they were about to speak, AbdulAziz asked if they would like to start from Prada for shoes.
"Yes, let's look at shoes first." They went into Prada, into the tempered warmth of the store. He took her little brown bag and set it on the down couch before helping her take her seat.
AbdulAziz bustled around and set three shoes in front of him, expertly broke the seal on the boxes and took them out of their tissue wrapping. Then AbdulAziz put the first pair in front of him, waiting for him to take off his boots.
"This one looks like you're going to war but you're not fighting, just helping them watch." Abdullah heard Nadia blurt out once his feet got encased in a brown high top split toe leather boot. He stopped trying to tie the laces and let out a bark of laughter.
"Now that you say so, it's really true," He motioned to AbdulAziz and said, "The Madam doesn't like this one, let's change it." The younger man smiled widely but took the shoes away, putting a different pair by Abdullah's feet.
The next was a patent leather pair that was shiny both to touch and shine, Abdullah had looked to Nadia and saw how she nodded her head in agreement. He put his feet into the shoes and wiggled it for a few moments before agreeing as well.
They picked three more shoes before heading out of there to another store. Abdullah watched as his wife pointed at three different bags she thought was perfect for him at the Gucci store. She sat near the dressing room door and waited for him to come out in his white shirt and blue suits.
Once he stepped out of the dressing room, beyond the curtains, he saw her clap her hands in excitement and showed a very happy thumbs up. He turned for her, while adjusting his cuffs.
"You like?" She nodded, her scarf nearly coming undone from the nodding, "I love it very much. I told you blue would be perfect." He looked in the huge mirror facing him and his happy smile startled him. He could have sworn he would never have that anymore, life had been so tough on him, he lost nearly everything.
It took only a chance meeting and a lot of affection to be here again, happy being a husband. He felt like hugging his joy to himself, giving himself a pat on the back for believing again.
"What are you thinking so deeply about?" She had come to stand in front of him, she only reached his chest so he stood still as she pulled and prodded the entire outfit until she was satisfied.
"I'm wondering how I managed to get you to be my wife, it's so unreal." He had been looking at her as he spoke so when she lifted her head, she was met with his intense eyes, they watched each other for a good moment before he pulled her into himself, smelling the delicious scent of her oud.
