[ Chapter One ]

Anastasia Romanoff was standing inside the museum smirking at the exhibit on Steve Rogers otherwise known as Captain America. The young woman was dressed in clothes that looked too warm to be in for the weather they were having but she didn't feel like getting recognized.

Her sister and Steve were currently working in Washington DC under Director Fury, while Anya had a job with Tony Stark, taking a much needed break from her SHIELD job. However, a couple of weeks ago, Natasha had forwarded a message saying they needed her in Washington DC which is why she was there now.

She shoved her hands into her pockets as she walked through the exhibit, already knowing most of it. She and Steve weren't super close but they talked, and Anya had pried information out of him whenever she could. Not knowing information about her friends or associates had gotten her into trouble before and she wasn't about to make that mistake again, if possible.

Her phone beeped and she pulled it out of her pocket, quickly moving to a corner of the room before peeking at it. She sighed reading the message from her sister and she made her way out of the exhibit keeping her head down as walked out of the building.

Anya only had to wait a minute before a sleek car pulled up next to the curb and her sister rolled down the window, "Get in."

"You should have picked a bigger car. It hardly looks big enough for three people." Anya pointed out, "Hey Rogers."

Steve was already sitting in the passenger's seat but got out so she could climb into the back. Anya was right, the back was a little tight but she tried to get herself comfortable.

"So, I get no mission details, just a phone call telling me to come to Washington DC two days ago. Also, that phone call was two weeks ago and I still haven't gotten any information." Anya complains, "And then you tell me that you're going to pick me up today at a museum. What is going on? I'm not usually kept in the dark for SHIELD operations. Hell, I'm part of the Avengers so I deserve to know what is going on."

Natasha glares at her sister in the mirror, "The less you know the better but Steve will fill you in."

"Please do." Anya crossed her arms over her chest, "Also, I'm not wearing my good suit, which was confiscated from me when I took Tony's offer instead of continuing my job with SHIELD. All I wanted was a break."

"Anya, if you'd be quiet a minute, maybe Steve would get the chance to explain things to you." Natasha said in an annoyed tone of voice.

"To be completely honest, Fury didn't tell me much either but apparently we'll be filled in soon enough." Steve told her.

"Of course." Anya sighed, "Anything you do know?"

"We're going to free hostages on a S.H.I.E.L.D vessel with a S.T.R.I.K.E team." Steve told her.

"Lovely. And why exactly did you need me? One super assassin could have been company enough." Anya asked.

"I haven't seen you in six months, Anya. Maybe I wanted to team up with my sister again." Natasha told her.

"Oh please. You could have invited me on any of the other missions. Why this one?" Anya asked, crossing her arms over her chest, as Natasha pulled into the S.H.I.E.L.D lot.

Natasha sent her sister a smile, "Or maybe I need you to keep an eye on this one here," she pointed a finger at Steve, "Make sure he doesn't do anything stupid."

Anya rolled her eyes and but then saw that Natasha wasn't saying why she really needed her aloud. It wasn't because she wanted her sister to fight alongside her or to keep an eye on Steve. It was so she could have someone she trusted not to out what she was really doing. A side mission, given by Director Fury himself. And she couldn't trust Steve with it. But she knew she could trust her sister, because Anya had been in the same boat before.

"So where exactly is this target?" Anya asked as she, Steve and Natasha walked towards a jet.

"Indian Ocean. It's a mobile satellite launch program called The Lemurian Star. Brock Rumlow will give you the rundown once we're aboard." Natasha told her.

Anya rolled her eyes, "Wait. This team is led by Brock? Why didn't you tell me? This is going to be all kinds of awkward."

"Oh please, Anya. That was over four years ago. Get over it." Natasha told her.

"What?" Steve asked, not following.

"Nothing you need to know, Rogers." Anya smiled, "It's the past."

"Rumlow and my sister here used to have a sort of relationship." Natasha answered, a small smirk on her face.

"And by relationship, I assume you mean a romantic relationship?" Steve asked.

"Of sorts." Anya said.

"Of sorts? Anya, you guys were dating for over a year." Natasha corrected.

"Yeah." Anya groaned, "Drunken one-night stand turned romantic relationship."

"How'd it end?" Steve asked.

"Some bullshit about how is both working for S.H.I.E.L.D was a bad thing for our relationship and how it was dangerous and would put our lives more at stake. I don't know but it wasn't pretty." Anya shook her head.

"But you're over it?" Steve asked.

"Would I be in a long term relationship if I wasn't?" Anya snorted, "Yes. I'm over it."

"And yet you're dating another person with the same job as you." Natasha sighed.

"Now isn't the time to lecture my relationship with Clint." Anya glared at her.

"And you're having problems in your current relationship."

"Nat!" Anya scolded.

Steve raised an eyebrow, "Trouble in paradise?"

"We're fine. Just having a disagreement." Anya glared at her sister and her friend, "I don't want to talk about it now."

Natasha rolled her eyes, "We'll talk about it later, okay?"

Anya didn't answer as she followed her sister on board the jet. She hoped that this trip would be successful and then she could return to New York.

Hey guys! College is stressful but I am here and excited to start this book!  

If you haven't already read the first book, that is called The Other Romanoff so go read that first. Also, this book isn't going to use "I" because I'm trying to make it easier.
