Chapter 19

Unsub's POV

I'd finally found her. The one. My wife. After all those people, those awful women who looked the part but didn't have the mentality to go with it. Especially Keeley. She didn't even manage a day! Not like Grace. Lovely, lovely Grace. She was definitely the one that had lightened my life, made me feel like there was hope in finding the girl of my dreams after so many fails. And here she was. I was so confident I'd even let her make a phone call to her family before she married me. She was going to be mine forever!

I walked down the stairs into my basement and saw her sleeping in the chair. Her eyes were red and puffy like she had been crying but she still looked beautiful. I'd heard her sobs late into the night, she'd been doing it every day since I'd got rid of that useless Penny. What kind of wife wouldn't eat what you cooked for her? What kind of wife would spit in your face and shout at you? Her. Someone who wasn't wife material. That's why I had to get rid of her.
Looking back at Grace I let out her another smile. She'd been the best by far. Religious, kind, caring. She'd done everything I asked, cleaned for me and spoken to me lovingly every day. Why couldn't I have found her earlier and saved wasted years? At least now we were going to get married. I'd called in a favour from one of my old college friends who was able to marry us. Soon it would all be over. I promised my mother on her deathbed that I would make her proud and change my life around, I was going to go outside and find myself a wife and that's exactly what I did. I can only hope she's looking down on me proudly, seeing what a gorgeous woman I've managed to get ahold of. In a few days she would be mine, my wife and soulmate. I put together the mixture for dinner and heated it up in the pot. It'd taken me ages to find a mixture that worked; marijuana, ecstasy and opium. I'd trialled loads of drugs from guys I knew on the streets, each giving an effect I really wanted, but none of them mixed well. It took a long time to find something that wouldn't kill the girls but would drug them enough for them to be under my control. It affected some more than others but that just proved my point even more! I could never have a wife who took drugs.

The all too familiar smell of what I'd been feeding these girls covered the room and told me it was cooked. I quickly set it aside and made my way to my bride to be, still sleeping soundly after the meal before. I took a long look at her and smiled. She was so pretty. I just needed to clean her up a bit. I took my comb out of my trouser pocket and began to comb her hair through, getting rid of the tangles that had appeared over the time she had been here. Her hair still smelt faintly of shampoo, a nice floral one which seemed to fit perfectly with my image of her. As I put my comb through it, I looked over at Penny, her skin now grey and pale. How could Grace be friends with such an awful woman? The only thing she was good at was planning and I had to thank her for that. Without that I would never have found Grace. With no time to spare, I needed to get Grace ready for our wedding day, I will paint her nails and do her hair and I've got my mothers wedding dress ready for her. That can wait until after dinner though. When she wakes up I will let her brush her teeth, she will look perfect. For now I shall just slip my mothers engagement ring on her finger. The feeling of butterflies hitting me for the first time in a long time.
Oh mummy, how I wish you were here to see your son get married. How proud you would be of the person I became.
