SIX
My driver was waiting for me after school and I quickly got into the car. I was anxious to get home; I wanted to ask the girls for their opinion.
I already guessed that Josie will be strongly against it but putting my studies into consideration; I was sure they would concede with me.
The driver drove into the compound and I hurried upstairs. I peeled off my clothes as I picked my phone. I put on my data and smiled seeing them online.
I sent messages to the general group but no one replied. I clutched my phone tighter after sending more messages and seeing that they saw it but chose to ignore it.
My heart started beating fast as I imagined Josie opposing strongly to it. If she opposed; I doubted if others will support me; Gani would naturally oppose me. It was more like she was my natural predator.
I couldn't imagine repeating a class. Deep down I knew I needed Joy's help. To get to SSS3; I needed her help but then, I wanted to take my clique into consideration.
It wouldn't be fair to them at all. I knew if it was any of them; they would surely consider. I sighed as I wore a boxer shorts and a tan top.
I walked downstairs to the kitchen only to remember that I had left a certain someone in Dallas.
"Holy shit!" I cursed under my breath as I opened one of the upper cupboards.
"He wouldn't wait for me" I told myself as I poured a large amount of cornflakes and milk into my bowl. I added water and started taking spoonfuls as I walked back to my room.
I checked my phone and sighed seeing that they hadn't replied. I couldn't wait to be sixteen, they would finally accept me. I turned on my computer immediately.
If I wanted to talk to the girls; I would have to go to school extra early the next day. I clicked on the animes folder on the desktop and I sat down to enjoy the movie and the cornflakes.

I got to school extra early the next day. Gani and Kunmi were already around by the time I got to school. I was so happy I got to school before Kunmi and I happily skipped towards them after dropping my bag.
"Good morning guys" I greeted cheerfully.
"Wow! You came early. Today must be a good day then" Gani replied as I smiled at her.
We engaged in small talks and I tried to keep up even though I didn't have an idea about what they were saying.
Josie and Temi arrived after a few minutes and I instantly greeted them cheerfully as well.
"What were you thinking leaving Donald in Dallas" Temi bellowed at me.
"He even waited thinking you would come after school" Temi added angrily as I looked on stunned.
"I... didn't.... know..... he would wait" I stuttered as Gani sneered at me.
"Its a good day really" Gani said.
"Who do you think you are to make someone wait for you?" Temi continued as I lowered my head.
"Sorry" I muttered.
"I don't need it" Temi replied as she sat down.
I waited for a few minutes before turning to Josie "About Joy, what should I do?" I asked.
"Don't even think about her coaching you! Don't you know how much I hate her?" Josie bellowed at her as I slowly nodded.
Why did Josie hate Joy so much? Because Joy was popular without doing anything, she was very pretty and had a lot of boys scurrying favour with her. She was even brilliant and intelligent. And the main reason why Josie hated Joy was because Joy and Ini were friends, good ones at that and Ini wouldn't even spare her face.
"You know this concerns my academics" I said trying to reason with Josie.
"So? No one likes her. Why must you associate yourself with her?" Gani asked eyeing me as I looked at her stunned.
"What do you mean by so? What if I repeat?" I asked agitated.
"That means you didn't study well. How does you not studying well affect us?" Gani replied as I stared at her.
She didn't care.
Josie stood up and adjusted her skirt "Let me ask Ini again" Josie said as I smiled slightly even though I knew she was just trying to look for an opportunity to talk to Ini.
I pursed my lips as Josie approached Ini. I secretly prayed at Ini wouldn't hurl insults at me again.
"Good morning Ini" Josie greeted as Ini walked into the class. She was wearing a huge smile and my eyes went to Ini. He looked dashing as usual and he slightly raised his brow at Josie.
"I want to talk to you" Josie said.
Ini dropped his backpack and nodded "You are talking already" Ini said indifferently.
"About coaching Rachel, can't you think about it? She'll turn a new leaf. You can take my word for it" Josie said with a smile.
"Didn't you hear me yesterday? I'm busy" Ini snapped as he furrowed his eyebrows at Josie.
"You are one of the best fifteen students in this class; shouldn't you coach her? What kind of friend are you?" Ini asked as Josie swallowed her saliva embarrassed.
She walked back to her seat and glared at me "Because of you, see how Ini embarrassed me!" Josie yelled at me and I flinched immediately snorting in my heart.
She went on her own. She was even the one who brought up the idea. Why is she blaming me?
Joy walked into the class leisurely as she turned to me.
"I clearly told you to call or text me yesterday" Joy said as the class went silent.
I swallowed my saliva as I stared at her not replying her. I glanced at the girls and saw them looking at Joy with pure hatred.
I stared at my fingers in confusion. My academics or my friends?
Which one to chose? I clearly wanted both but it seemed like I couldn't. I sighed as the bell for first period was rang, so I had no option but to go back to my seat.
As usual; I barely understood what the teachers taught except in Civic Education class. Since it was Friday, we closed early. The following week was Kunmi's birthday and preparations had started.
"I'll bring the invitations on Monday, Rachel would share them" Kunmi said as they walked.
I pursed my lips as I tried to catch up with them. I was running ideas on how to share the cards. Given my social skills; no one would be able to receive them.
"Donald is waiting for you in Dallas, so go and see him" Temi said as I turned to her surprised.
"Donald?" I asked surprised.
"No, Jonkald" Gani replied and the girls burst into laughter.
Kunmi eyed me wearily "He's so cute. What doea he see in you?" Kunmi asked with a hiss.
"C'mon, Rachel is pretty to an extent nah" Josie said as I smiled widely.
"Pretty you say? Her looks are too normal. Donald just wants to play around with her" Gani said as she turned to me.
"If you like let them use your head" She added as they walked away.
I held my school bag tightly as I walked to Dallas. At last, he didn't like me and I just wanted to play around with me. I decided to ask him straightforward.
