Ahh, I remember this one. I was about 12 (human age) in this picture. I was so scared that I was going to fall off the edge and into the water below. True to my gut feeling, I did. And I didn't return until I was 19 (human age). Hence the reason why I am never seen in the show.

 I was playing around with China and Japan when I slipped on a loose rock and crashed down to the water. I later found out that the pair had searched for me for a week, and deemed me to be dead (cities can get injured really bad, and occasionally die. Yeah, it sucks.). 

 I had washed on the shore of England a year later and walked the entire way back to China. That was terrible. I had to beg for food and drink from streams. My long shirt became a kind of crop top and my knee height skirt became a mini skirt. I had grown a lot, and honestly, smelled pretty bad.
