Chapter 5
Dean couldn't stop thinking about Cas throughout the day. He had a feeling that he hadn't felt in a while. Anxiety. Dean used to be anxious to go home when he was younger, scared of what John might say or do but he lost that feeling. He was usually ready for whats coming. This was different though. Dean was anxious to meet Castiel's family.
Dean thought about how he should greet, posture, way to show politeness, what to call them, everything really. Dean was so nervous. He was always nervous to meet his old friends' fathers but this was different. Dean couldn't understand why he was nervous now.
Dean didn't focus in any of his classes, not that he usually did, but it was different this time. Dean never heard the teachers calling out his name to pay attention, only when they slam there hands on his desk he actually looks up. Dean was lost in thought all day.
He was so fricken worried that it kind of scared him. Dean realized how stupid that sounded. He's scared of being scared? Dean rolled his eyes at his inner thoughts and tried to focus on something different.
By the end of the day, Dean noticed that his hands were becoming a little sweaty. 'At least it's not my house were going to.' Dean thought, trying to calm himself down. It made Dean think about what would happen if they went to his house, would Dean get a beat or would Cas? Dean would never let Castiel in a situation where there was a chance he could get hurt.
As Dean walked out of the building he felt a need to fix his hair and clothing before talking to Cas. The worst of his worries were the bruises on his face though. What if Castiel notices. God this was stupid. He looks fine. Castiel won't notice the bruises. Heading to the front gates Dean leaned against the brick ignoring the pain he got from the impact.
Sam came by a little later. "Hey, Dean!" Turning around Dean got straight to the point. "Hey Sam, so I am going to Cas's house today if that's cool you should come. I can't let you go home." Sam nodded before saying "Actually I was thinking of going to a friends house. Remember Jess." Dean brightened upon hearing that his brother was going to be hanging out with his crush. Alright, Sammy, you should sleepover alright? Sam nodded and waved by to Dean.
Dean water a little longer but soon enough Castiel came by dangling keys, Dean was guessing car keys, from his hands. "Hey, Cas," Dean smirked. "Hello, Dean. I parked my car that way." Dean followed as Cas led him to his car.
Dean hated Castiel's car and made sure that he knew it. Cas owned a 2017 Honda Pilot. Dean hated that music Castiel had on when they got in the car. It was a pop radio, even worse it was Taylor Swift. Scrunching his eyebrows Dean hit the off button in a hurry trying to relieve his brain from the awful sound the car made.
Castiel looked over at Dean quizzed. "Dean, I like that song," Cas said a little offended. "You like this bullshit, Cas?" Dean replied, astonished before popping in a joke "Forget we were ever friends."
Castiel was learning not to take Deans remarks seriously so he just gave him an eye roll in response and started the car. Dean kinda blushed after thinking about how he called Cas his friend.
To hide his red face Dean started watching the road when he realized Cas's house was just around 20 blocks from his house. In Dean's case, that's walking distance for him. Dean started to play with the fantasy of coming over to Castiel's house from time to time when he needed it. He liked the thought of that.
Dean couldn't help but have his thoughts drift back to Cas's face. Not in the way you're probably thinking though. Dean was thinking about Castiel's expression and how he probably noticed the bruises lining Dean's face. He didn't really talk about it though and that worried Dean.
As the pulled in to the driveway Dean got a better look at Castiel's house. It was a huge white colonial house with dark gray asphalt shingles. Dean couldn't help but admire the woodwork, he never liked art but he could tell that a lot of time and effort was put into this house.
Dean turned over noticing that Castiel was staring at him. "Like what you see?" Cas hearing the joke in his voice gave Dean yet again another eye roll before getting out of the car.
Dean followed trying to settle his nerves as Castiel opened the front door. The inside of the house was just as beautiful as the outside. "Castiel, is that you?" A voice said coming from the kitchen.
"It is my father, and I brought a..." Castiel looked over at Dean, "a friend." A man, in his mid 40's came to the front. "Why hello there, I am Castiel's father, but you can call me Chuck." Dean seemed to stiffen slightly, slowly reaching out and shaking the already extended hand of the man.
"Thank you for having me, Sir." Dean noticed his change in demeanor and tried to loosen up. That's what he does around parents, well more the fathers. "Wow son, I think you've found yourself a keeper." Chuck's comment made Castiel's cheeks heat up.
"Come on Dean," Castiel said grabbing his arm and dragging him to the upstairs while Dean tried not to squint in pain from the movement. Castiel leads him into a bedroom shutting the door.
"Castiel you naughty bastard," Dean said noticing that it was Cas's room. He just responds yet again with an eye-roll. Castiel was getting quite good at it actually.
"Dean, when are we going to talk about it?" Dean knew Cas noticed the bruises. Dammit. Dean chuckled trying to pretend he didn't know what Castiel was talking about "About what?"
Castiel stepped closer to Dean making little space between the two boys. It made Dean more uncomfortable than he already was. Cas brought his hand to Dean's face stroking his cheek.
"These." Dean knew he was referencing to the bruises as he tried not to flinch when Castiel touched them. It was like Castiel was testing him to see whether he was in pain or not.
"Oh, those? There nothing. Me, my brother, and a few friends played some football yesterday. I was in a bad tackle." Castiel looked at Dean searching his eyes for a tiny spark showing that he was lying.
"Dean I thought you were watching football," Castiel said starting to get worried. "This was after." Castiel stared at Dean "Dean." Castiel said seriously. Dean just scoffed as a reply before changing the subject. "Let's just get to work, ok?"
Castiel stared at Dean before letting out a sigh. He knew he was never gonna get anything out of him. So they got to work.
