Chapter 16

Reader-Chan POV

My eyes fluttered open, and I winced as they adjusted to the light.
Oh shit.
Then I felt it. The pain, it coursed throughout my whole body, especially from my face down to my collarbone.
"Look! She's awake!!" I heard someone squeal.
"No shit four eyes," snapped back an annoyed deep voice that I instantly recognized. Levi.
I tried to prop myself up on my elbows but once I tried to move my arms gave out from the pain and I fell back against the pillows.
I groaned in pain.
"You shouldn't try that-"
"No shit," I interrupted the person but froze when I recognized that voice. Erwin. Oh crap, he's gonna kill me, I thought.
But he only responded by chuckling.
"S-sorry I snapped commander," I muttered, as I looked up at the ceiling, knowing that if I moved my neck it would hurt more.
"No worries. I understand. But you shouldn't force yourself too much. It was quite a nasty hit you took. I was afraid we would lose you for good," I heard commander say. Nasty hit? What did he mean by that?
"What do you mean? What happened to me?" I rasped out. I couldn't remember what happened to me that landed me a spot in the clinic. Erwin hesitated before speaking.
"One of Hangi's titans managed to escape its cage and throw a boulder that hit your office, injuring you," he said in a grave time, looking up at Hanji when she mentioned her name.
"How did it escape?" I asked.
"We're not sure. But some soldiers nearby took action," responded Levi.
"They killed it," I said to myself. Erwin nodded. Hanji made a sound of despair in her throat.
"My baby died!!! Why were they so cruel? First they blinded him and tortured him and then killed him," Hanji mourned softly. She sniffed before looking at me.
"But I suppose...it had to be done, in order to avoid anymore damage," she sighed and wiped a tear off her cheek. Oh Hanji and her weird titan obsession.
"Damn shitty glasses," Levi muttered before walking away, his hand coming up and grabbing the back of her collar and dragging her behind him, outside the infirmary.
"Don't die, brat," Levi called out to me. I felt the corners of my lips tilt up into a small smile.
"Wait! Where are you taking me? I wanna talk to (Y/N) more!!" Whined Hanji before leaving (getting dragged out) the room).
"How do you feel?" asked Erwin. I winced as I tried to rearrange my body in a more comfortable position.
"Like crap," I muttered. I brought my hand up my neck and trailed it down what felt like stitches, running it across my neck and stopping on my collarbone.
"You got injured the most there." said Erwin, his eyes glued to my neck.
"It'll leave a scar...won't it?" I asked, before placing my hand atop my lap again.
"Yes...unless you can heal it?" he looked up at me hopefully. I sighed and concentrated. I waited for the sound of steam to emit from my wounds...but nothing.
I frowned and looked down. My hands were covered in smaller cuts, but those would heal eventually, as well as the pain in my body.
"I was worried," he muttered as he stood and walked to the side of my bed, placing his hand atop my head and ruffling my hair softly like he's done so many times.
"Don't be. I'm a fighter, this is barely something," I smiled softly. Erwin chuckled slightly before squeezing my shoulder.
"I should go. Your squad has been begging to see you. Especially Sebastian," he winked at me. Despite my current state, I felt my heart flutter at the mention of sebastian and I felt a blush settle on my cheeks. I looked away in embarrassment.
"Yeah okay," I muttered. Erwin chuckled and squeezed my shoulder one last time before walking away. I feel as if I should remember something but whenever I try to grasp the memory, it slips away.
Before I knew it, I heard rapid footsteps heading my way.
I looked up in time to see Sebastian stop in front the bed. His eyes were full of worry and relief at the same time.
"Hey," I said in a small voice and felt lips curve into a smile. He returned a sad smile as he walked to the side of my bed. He sat down on the edge of the mattress and placed one of his hands atop my folded ones that rested on my lap while the other came up to rest on my cheek.
"Hello. How do you feel, darling?" Sebastian asked softly.
I sighed and shrugged my shoulders, but instantly regretted it afterwards. I winced at the pain pulsing through my whole body.
"Like crap," I muttered. He frowned and looked down for a moment, his bangs obscuring his face.
"I'm so sorry," he whispered, his tone full of emotion shocked me. I raised and eyebrow and gently lifted my hand to cup his face and tilt it upwards.
"What for? You didn't do anything wrong, Sebastian," I frowned.
"Precisely. I didn't do anything. I didn't stop the boulder from hitting you."
My heart dropped at his words. I can't believe he's blaming himself for this, even if he is a demon.
"Sebastian what are you talking about? Don't beat yourself because of this. I'm okay. Don't worry. Please look at me," I said. His gaze flickered to mine. "I don't like seeing you like this."
"I'm sorry, I just...I was deeply afraid. I thought you would never wake up." He confessed. "And when I saw you covered in so much blood and your limp body..." he didn't finish. I beckoned him towards me.
"You moron," I smiled and brushed his hair out of his eyes. Sebastian looked at me confused.
"It's going to take more than a rock to kill me. And I'm just gonna have a scar. No big deal," I shrugged. Sebastian looked at me with an eyebrow raised.
"What?" I blinked.
"You say it in such a calm matter...are you not angry with me?" he tilted his head to the side slightly. I almost laughed at his expression.
"Nope," I said and pecked his pale cheek. I pulled away and looked into his eyes.
"Unless...you want me to be mad? Did you...do something wrong before the accident?" I asked, my eyebrows furrowing. Something flickered in his eyes but I wasn't sure what it was.
"No. Of course not. We were only talking about the Military Police and their visit," he said nonchalantly. I felt like there was something more to that...but I found no reason to doubt him. He's never given me a reason to think he's a liar so I shrugged off that feeling.
"Okay. Then it's okay. But promise me you will forget your guilt," I said sternly. He gave me a small smile.
"Is that an order," he asked, leaning in closer to my face so that I could feel his cool breath hit my lips. I nodded and placed my lips over his. He kissed me back  until I pulled away after feeling pain on my neck, where my scar is. I placed my hand over it, wincing again.
"Are you alright?" Sebastian asked in a concerned tone. I nodded slowly.
"Yeah...just in a bit of pain," I muttered. He opened his mouth to say something but was interrupted by the infirmary's door slamming open.
