Chapter 9

"Ro? What are you doing?"

"Researching flower origins."

Remus sat down on a beanbag. "Why?"

"Cause I can."

"Yeah but... why?"

"For a poem."

Remus rolled his eyes. "You and your stupid poems. You call me insane and then do stuff like this."

Roman rolled his eyes before noting something down in a small pocket notebook. "Why're you hanging out with Janus so much?"

"You got a problem with me seeing my boyfriend?" Remus asked sharply.

"No. It's just..."

"Just because you don't like him and haven't liked him for the past two years doesn't give you the right to dictate when I see him."

Roman looked at Remus. "Jesus Re." He said eventually. "I was just asking a question. I just thought you'd be more invested in the bet, that's all."

Remus shrugged. "I already know you're gonna lose. No point keeping tabs on it. You're not allowed to fall in love with him and you're a hopeless romantic so I'll be getting £20 soon."

"Shut up." Roman snapped. "I'll win, Re. Just watch." Remus rolled his eyes and got up, leaving the room.

Remus swung his legs as he looked over at the little red-brick house. He wondered if Janus was there, thinking about him like he was.

"Remus, what are you doing?" He asked himself. "This is creepy." He sighed and looked away from the house.

"Teenagers scare the livin' shit outa me." He sang quietly, grinning slightly. "They could care less as long as someone'll bleed. So darken your clothes or strike a violet pose." He tried to strike a silly pose but hit his hand against the trunk of the tree. "Ow, shit." He hissed, shaking his hand. He sighed and looked back up at the house.

"Oh, what the Hell?"

Janus poked his head into the loft. He thought he'd heard a tapping at the window. It creeped him out a little.

"Hello?" He asked. A face appeared at the window and Janus bit back a yell of surprise. He checked behind him before going over to the window and opening it. "Rem, what the fuck are you doing here?"

"I was bored. Came to see you."

"No, no, no, you cannot be here. My dad's downstairs. You need to go."

Remus pouted dramatically. "But Jan-"

"No." Janus closed his eyes and took a deep breath, trying not to snap. "Look, I've told you how worried it makes me just to talk about my dad but he's here right now. So go away. Please." He added. Remus sighed.

"Fine. Bye Jan."

"Okay, thank you. I'll see you soon, okay Rem?"

Remus nodded and opened his mouth to say something else but Janus shut the window and locked it. Remus sighed and jumped down to the floor, landing on his feet and then dropping onto his knees. He got up, dusted his jeans off and ran towards the fence.

"Janus?" Janus jumped and whipped around. "Why are you in here again?"

"Thought I heard something at the window." Janus said quickly, praying that he wouldn't give himself away as he'd so often worried about. "It was just a squirrel."

Peter looked at his son, nearly glared at him, and Janus bit the inside of his lip, praying his dad hadn't seen through him.

"Make sure there aren't anymore... vermin. They could be nesting in the loft." Janus let out an invisible sigh and nodded.

"Yes dad."

I'm listening to MCR and yes, Marilyn, I'd love to go to the imaginary concert. Okay thank you :) And I know that MCR is Virgil's thing but I think Remus'd like it too. Dunno why.
Bye,
Blaize
