"Adrien, I cannot afford to lose you too. Where were you!?" Gabriel held his son by his shirt's collar.

"I ran away so that I won't have to put on any fake smiles anymore. So that I'd have a normal life, where people actually care about me unlike you, father!" He shook off his father's hand from his shoulder. Adrien knew he had to do it, even if it meant hurting his father.

Gabriel was taken aback but soon realised how much inconsiderate he had been to his son while trying to protect him from the cruel world that took his wife away from him. He embraced the young boy in front of him. The only memory she had left him with. And at that moment, both father and son knew that they were being hard on each other.

Adrien saw his dad smile for the first time ever since his mom had left them. He felt a new hope now. After all, life wasn't that bad. Perhaps there were people who cared about him even if they didn't show it.

Adrien stared up at the wide open windows that stretched to the ceiling from his bed. He could see the sunset in the distance. The colours of the evening sky reminded him of the wonderful time he had as a child. The fading yellow reminded him of his mom's soft blonde hair. The blue, somehow reminded him of her dress and the scarf that his dad had given him on his birthday, the only two pieces of clothing he held so dearly despite having an entire wardrobe of his father's latest designs. Slowly, the sky turned a bright pink, then red. He chuckled as he remembered that the shy girl who wore matching pink designs was his lady in red who saved the city. Then he saw the colours fade. The yellow first, then the blue and so on. His heart sank when he realised that he couldn't do anything to find out where his mom was. Before he knew it, the sky turned pitch black and as though the answer had been lying in front of him the whole time, Adrien now knew that he was meant to be the black cat. Chat Noir was a part of him. He was chosen, maybe because this was the only way he could bring his mom back wherever she was.

He stared into the dark sky across the ceiling. He kept pondering until he saw two blue orbs staring back at him with concern from the highest window. Adrien thought he was hallucinating but then he noticed her pigtails were out of place. It took a moment for him to realise that Ladybug had been staring down at him all this time while hanging upside down from the roof.

"You seem to be down, Kitty." She let out a soft giggle. Adrien smiled at her attempt to make a pun. He leaned forward as his Lady lowered herself into his arms. Before Adrien could even come up with a cat pun, Ladybug grabbed his collar and closed the space between them. They would've made out further if they hadn't heard a distant explosion coming from the Notre Dame.

"Hmm, I wonder who's in the church at this hour." Chat noir stroked his chin suspiciously. "Come to think of it, we haven't had any attack from here so far. If Hawkmoth lives in Paris," the superheroes looked at each other as the words came out at the same time, "this is the only safe spot where his attacks won't backfire on him!"

Ladybug's eyes gleamed with excitement. "This is gonna end once and for all! You coming, Chat Noir?"

"After you, M'lady!" Chat gazed at his Lady as she flung herself over to the top of the church. Both of them landed onto the circular glass window. There were only two words to be said as they saw the hoard of butterflies beneath them. "It's showtime!"

Hello there! I'm so sorry to say that this is the final chapter. I just got  this idea that Hawkmoth may be hiding in Notre Dame.

This is also my first and last book because I won't have internet after today. Although I'll be writing if I have access to the net in future.

*cries* sigh, I'll miss you guys! ML has the most amazing fandom!
