Clown Family | The Park
Little feet could be heard in the dark as she ran across the hallway that led to her parents room. The mischievous four year old didn't hesitate to open the door to jump on the bed, throwing herself on top of her father who groaned when her petite body landed on his stomach.
"Daddy!" Lucy whispered as she positioned herself on his chest and pressed her small hands on the Joker's face, "Daddy wake up! Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up!"
J smiled sleepily, eyes closed and wrapped his arms around the little girl. He then rolled on his side taking her along with him, trapping her on his strong embrace making Lucy giggle uncontrollably.
"Daddy you're crushing me!"
"You're my teddy bear." he mumbled, nuzzling his nose on her light brown hair, breathing in her still baby scent. "Go back to sleep, little monster. It's still dark outside."
"You promised to take me to the park!" Lucy rolled on her side to face her father and reached up to open J's eyes with her fingers but he shut them tighter.
"And I will as long as you let daddy sleep until the sunlight peers through that window. Deal?" he said and held her closer to him, making her squirm.
"No, daddy! Wake up now!" she whined with a mischevious grin that resembled Joker's.
The clown sighed and opened his eyes slowly. He couldn't help but smile with adoration when their eyes met, the girl before him melted him. Her ice blue eyes shone brightly, even in the dark, her messy curly hair was spread all over his pillow, she was adorable. No matter how many days, weeks, months and year passed, the Joker was still amazed at how much his Lucy looked like him. And he loved that.
"How come you always wake me up and not your mother?" he said as their noses touched.
Lucy looked over her father's shoulder, giggling when she saw Harley, sleeping soundly with her mouth open and body tangled on the covers.
"'Cause mama sleeps like a rock. It's so hard to wake her up." she whispered on J's ear. He chuckled, his fingers brushing her curls tenderly. For such a young age, Lucy was a smart, energetic, eloquent girl. He could spend hours and hours talking to her and she always brought up something funny and new.
J reached for his watch and checked the time. Five am. He sighed in resignation for he knew the bubbly toddler wasn't going to let him sleep anymore.
"How about some hot chocolate, little miss?" said the Joker as he slowly sat up on the bed. Lucy didn't need to be asked twice, she immediately jumped off and stormed out of her parents bedroom.
It was Lucy's first time going out with her parents in broad daylight or without uncle Bruce and uncle Alfred. It all happened, as they drove back home from a weekend at Gotham because of her father's work, that Lucy's attention was caught by the enormous ferris wheel at the amusement park. The girl spent hours and hours begging J to take her to the "fun place" and of course he finally agreed. He just hoped that after being away from the criminal scene for almost five years no soul would recognize him.
And there he was, the infamous Joker, former Clown Prince of Crime, drinking a cup of hot chocolate as an impatient little girl jumped from his lap, to the living room and back to the kitchen.
"Daddy, when is mama wak–"
"Some sneaky little dwarf came into my room and stole my Puddin!" a voice coming from the hallway startled Lucy who hid under the table and waited quietly for her mother to enter the kitchen.
"Oh, there you are! Traitor!" Harley said teasingly to J, grinning at her husband as she caught sight of Lucy who seemed like she was about to explode from laughter. "Tell me where she is or face the consequences!"
"I'm afraid I don't know what you're talking about, honey." The Joker winked at his wife as he stood up and wrapped his arms around her waist. Harley couldn't help but bite her bottom lip as she looked down at the Lucy, hiding under the table, watching her parents with mischief.
"Well then, I suppose I'll torture you with kisses until you tell me where that little adorable monster is." said Harley, her lips almost touching J's when the sound of Lucy's cute giggles filled the kitchen.
"Ewww! No kissing, mommy, no!" Lucy crawled to her mother's feet.
The Joker watched his two girls as they hugged and giggled at unison. He couldn't hide the adoration he felt for them, his only treasures. Seven years ago the clown would've never imagined he would be standing in a kitchen staring at his former
psychiatrist as she tickled a mini Joker.
"Ok little miss. Go get dressed! We need to get going." said Harley and Lucy ran into her room without another word.
A pair of arms circled her waist and she knew the man that held her tight needed some reassurance. The harlequin knew her king so well to know he was terribly nervous. Harley smiled and turned to face her husband, who smiled nervously in return.
"It'll be fine, Mistah J."
"I know, baby. I know." he answered, his eyes wandering around the kitchen deciding whether he should take a knife or two.

Stares. Too many stares.
He could have sworn a couple of parents grabbed their kids and ran on the other direction. But his princess was ecstatic, and that helped J to stay calmed and focused as he walked among the mass, his bright green hair popping out from the boring crowd. Even though his aviator glasses covered half of his face he still could feel many eyes examining him or maybe his paranoia had begun playing tricks to his head.
Harley, on the other hand, was as excited as her daughter, sharing a huge cotton candy with Lucy and practically dragging her husband all around the park.
"Can we go now?" J whined.
"No!" Harley and Lucy giggled as they both ran towards the ferris wheel their daughter was so anxious to ride. The Joker sighed and followed, groaning as he noticed the long queue line.
And then it happened, just as his girls were about to reach it, a pair of ridiculous clowns appeared infront of them, making Lucy come to a halt and froze, watching them with an indescribable expression J had never seen on his little one before.
They both had green, fluffy hair, colorful suits and enormous shoes. Their red lips turned into stupid grins as they smiled down at Lucy, who was not turning her small hands into fists.
"Hi little friend!" one of the clowns kneeled next to the little girl and offered her a balloon, which she rejected.
"Go away you're ugly!" she hissed and looked up at her father, then back at the clown before her. "Daddy's hair is prettier than yours!"
Joker couldn't contain the pride he felt when he heard those words coming out from Lucy's mouth and found it extremely ironic how his little girl seemed to hate clowns so far and it took both parents by surprise when the toddler punched the clown with her little fist when he tried to be funny for the second time.
"You little br–" the clown started but was cut off by Joker's hand wrapping around his neck.
"You little what? Don't you dare speak another word to my princess." J knuckles had turned a paler shade as the annoying clown gasped for air and help. Everyone had started to panic and run away from the scene, even the other clown had ran away cowardly. "This beauty asked you to go away."
"Honey calm down," Harley's hand moved up to his shoulder, giving it a gentle squeeze. He dropped the trembling clown to the floor, a satisfied grin drawn across his face as he looked down at him arrogantly.
"You need to learn how to approach children, my friend." said J, picking up Lucy into his arms, "That's why no one likes clowns."
The threesome walked towards the Ferris wheel and noticed all the people from the queue line were gone, driven away by the havoc. The Joker looked at his little Lucy's face, shining with excitement as they climbed into one of the cabs.
As the Ferris wheel swirled, giving them the most amazing view of the city, something clicked inside J's brain. He knew damn well they would always be different; he could deal with the stares and the rejection from people but Lucy deserved the world at her feet. And, just like he would do anything for his wife, he was willing to do the impossible for Lucy.
So that night, after his two girls went to sleep, he entered his office and pulled out a long piece of parchment. He smiled broadly as he wrote the words 'Crazy Land' in it and began to sketch.
Yes, he was building and amusement park, for his little Lucy.

Hello!
Don't hurt me! I'll be your friend! But believe me when I say that these weeks have been crazy. I know this isn't the best one shot ever written but it gives you a sneek peek on the plans J has for his little girl. How cool is that? The Joker is building an amusement park for his daughter.
I promise that I will write moren often, the writer's block and the mayhem is wearing off, hopefully everything will go back to normal now.
Comment, my dears. Your comments make me smile so much.
xoxo
