Part 12: Who Should be Trusted?
We arrived at the run-down hotel. It stood on a slight slope or hill. The yellow-green grass swayed with the cool breeze. Shingles were falling off of the roof, the wood was rotten- mold thrived within it. The misty day didn't help with first impressions. Except it wasn't my first time here.
"This has to be the place..." I close my eyes, but for some reason, dread swelled up inside of me. As our feet hit the ground, it crinkled each time on the gravel path. Lesley walked next to me. I shivered.
"Come." He started jogging, and I followed. The hotel drew nearer. My body did not want to go inside, but I forced my muscles to work, to pull me forward. Something dark flashed in front of my vision suddenly, I knew it was a bad sign.
"Do you really think we should go?" My head ached, and my jog slowed to an awkward walk.
"It's the only way, trust me." Lesley turned around and gave me a half smile. "I know, it's weird, but this is how I save you." His face was.... Nauseating. I wanted to double over and vomit on the ground. My hand gripped my stomach and I watched in horror as his face twisted and turned. A wide, toothy grin replaced the gentle half smile, and his body turned black. Tentacles the size of tree trunks exploded from his ghostly vessel, and sent black goo flying. The stench swelled in my nostrils, burning the tender skin.
"Lesley!!!" I scream in terror, backing away farther. The hotel still loomed in the background.
"Lesley? Lesley?" The beast cackled in a deathly, low voice, mocking me. "You really think that's who I am?" Black spit spewed from it's mouth as it spoke.
"It's okay, everything's okay..." I say to myself softly, covering my ears and shaking my head. My legs rocket me towards the foul being, and I speed right through its body. "The hotel!" I whisper while inside the monster who I used to call...
"Lesley..."
