{~Downton~}
"Look, Vicky," Rose bobbed the child up to the window of the Rolls Royce. Victoria's eyes could seek out only shapes: gold towers up to the sky; figures in black and white standing in a line formation outside of the front.
The car door was opened, and so did the front door to Downton. Lady Mary scurried out and peered down at Victoria in Rose's arms. "She's an angel," Mary said. "Just like in the pictures!"
Rose grinned down at her child, dressed in a yellow day dress and white frilly bonnet. Mr. Barrow, a rather cold footman, walked up to the two ladies.
"I can take Lady Victoria to the nursery, if you'd like," he said politely, which was surprising for his cold, dreary character. He always warmed up towards children, especially Master George.
"Make sure she gets the bassinet next to Sybil," Tom Branson added, grinning. "So happy to see you back, Rose."
Rose passed Victoria to Thomas and hugged Mary and Tom. Atticus came out from the car, and smiled nervously. He wasn't as close to the Crawley family as Rose was.
"Rose, is that you?" Robert came out, bounding towards her. "Did I miss Victoria?"
"She just left to the nursery," Rose replied sweetly. There was a way to Rose's words; they sounded so clean and pretty, and they would end in a calming sound like running water. Atticus was married to her for over a year and still was mesmerized at how she spoke.
"We must get some tea in the great hall. I hear Violet is visiting," Lady Cora's spunky, warm American voice sounded behind Rose. She turned and walked towards her, overwhelmed.
"Rose! We weren't expecting you."
"I hope I didn't cause trouble in your schedule," Rose said glumly. "I thought Vicky should meet one of the fabulous women she's named after."
"I'm honored," Cora replied, swaying her fragile arms back and forth against her silk dress. "How long are you two planning to stay?"
"A few days, if that's alright," Atticus joined the conversation. "I spoke to Lady Mary on the phone, so I thought our arrival was confirmed."
"It was, i just forgot to tell mother," Mary replied suavely, and the group sounded in light laughing.
"I'm so happy to be back."
