*Shadow's POV*
"Watch it, Egghead!" We both turned to look, seeing Mighty on top of a golf cart, honking the horn as Spike rode in the back while holding a bat in hand. I knew better than to stand in that place while they were coming straight at us, so I quickly skated to where Mephiles was.

"Whats this?" I asked, paying close attention to Eggman, who was trying to run away from Mighty and Spike, who was swinging the bat trying to hit him. He was laughing a little too diabolically.

"When we got to school, we saw students running away from here. We found out what happened with Sonic getting thrown because of some videos some students posted online. We came to help as soon as we found out." Scourge spoke as he walked closer to us. I turned to look where Sonic was. His siblings and the fox were already by his side, trying to figure out if he was okay.

"Go to him. He -" Mephiles started, but I shook my head.

"I've got to take care of him first." I watched as Eggman called some of his robots into the field.

Amy, Knuckles, Rouge, and Blaze immediately ran into battle, and I quickly did too. I let Scourge and Mephiles handle the metallic version of Sonic and skated off towards Eggman. I never dared call them my friends, I never wanted to be close to them, to anyone, but seeing them be here for us today. Seeing them risk their lives when they were just teens, I knew I couldn't keep lying to myself any longer. They were my friends. And I have to thank Sonic for opening my eyes.

"You're not going anywhere!" I heard Rouge start screaming as she flew above me and launched herself at Sonics ex, but she wasn't the only one. His sister was already there, punching Sally into the floor and getting on top of her. Too much anger, after everything she did to Sonic, I didn't blame her.

"Eggman!" I snapped when I saw him getting on his egg mobile and trying to fly away. I narrowed my eyes and charged a chaos spear, then tossed it at the machine, causing smoke to come out. He started to descend quickly, and I followed and watched as he crashed into the school, breaking down some walls.

"What were you planning after taking control over me?" I decided to ask, stepping over the debris so I could reach him.

"I am going to make you betray everyone you care about. I'm going to make you hurt them and make sure they're under my control as well. Your friends, they won't last long with my robots. Only you can stop this." Eggman smirked as he got up again, holding the gun device in his hand.

I took a look back at my friend's, seeing them getting hit by the robots, the screams of pain, and then my gaze landed on Sonic, who was unconscious on the ground. His best friend and his brother were beside him, panicking and trying to help him.

"I can help him. He took a good beating from Metal Sonic. I can help him heal." He extended the device to me.

I looked at it and remained quiet. Seeing the device only made me angrier, I growled furiously and charged another chaos spear, then stabbed the device, the spear going through Eggmans hand. He fell to his knees, shouting in pain.

"Do you really want to see more people die because of you?" Eggman shouted. He held his wrist in pain. I scoffed, and chaos controlled behind him, then kicked him in the back.

"They won't die. And I won't help you." I crossed my arms then grinned when Eggman suddenly looked at me with fear in his eyes. This is when he finally realized that he had made a mistake by pissing me off.

I let down my walls because of that blue hedgehog. I let down my walls because I fell in love with him. I told myself I would never get attached to someone else again, that I would not bring anyone else into my problems, but ever since Sonic showed up, things changed. I was not going to let anyone take him away from me.

"I'll help them myself after I take care of you." I charged yet another spear and took a step closer to Eggman. He immediately got up and started to back away.

*Sonic's POV*
"He's waking up." I slowly opened my eyes and saw Manic running beside me. There were cops everywhere, the flashing lights giving me more of a headache than I already had. I was in so much pain.

I suddenly realized that I was being carried and placed in an ambulance bed. As the scenery began to move around me, more and more things came into my view. I saw Lucy and Espio both talking to some cops. I saw my brother, sister, and Tails running to catch up to me.

I saw my friends looking at me with worry in their eyes, but I couldn't spot Shadow. My vision began to blur again, and I knew I was going to pass out again from the pain, so  I weakly lifted my hand and gave a thumbs up.

I'll be okay. And I want them to know that.
