*Sonic's POV*
We stopped at a corner store where Shadow made me sit down inside since they had tables. He went to buy us a drink and got a slice of pizza for me to eat. He handed me the drink first, and I took a sip from it from the straw.

"Feeling better?" He asked, and I slowly nodded. He nodded and then hit the back of my head.

"Hey!" I rubbed the spot he hit and put the drink down.

"What the hell was that at the park? You were just going to let her control you again?" He slid my slice of pizza closer to me as he sat down in front of me.

"I -" I stopped and looked down at my hands. "I don't know. She really knows how to get to me. I don't want to be with her. I really dont. I wanted to end it with her today. We aren't together, but I wanted her to understand that we will never get together again." I sighed. "But then she started talking, and well..."

"Chaos, Faker. You're weak." I dropped my ears at his words. He stopped talking for a bit, and then he changed the tone of his voice to a softer one. "I heard everything. She is wrong. No one would hate you if you told them about it."

"How would you know?" I asked and looked up, my gaze meeting his.

"Because you didn't hate me when I told you." He said, then looked at the drink and drank from it as well. I was a bit taken by surprise at that since he drank from the same straw I had.

I stayed quiet. He was right. I had listened to Shadow tell me what had happened with Maria, how she died in front of him because Eggman's robot killed her in one of his test runs and Shadow hadn't been able to save her, to get to her to protect her. Shadow was right. Why was I letting Sally get to me?

"What were you doing at the park anyways?" I asked.

He raised a bag of sodas he had just purchased. "Vanilla and Vector sent me to buy drinks. I was on my way to the store when I saw you." I finally took a bite of the pizza, the food helping my nerves calm down.

"Everything you said -" Shadow interrupted. 

"Was just to get her to leave you alone, Hedgehog." He rolled his eyes and stood up. "Let's go. Cream won't stop asking about you."

I stood up and walked with him to his house. As soon as Shadow opened the door, I could see Tails and Cream inside. My ears perked up since I didn't expect to see Tails.

"Hey, Bud. What are you doing here?" I asked as I walked in after Shadow. Shadow went to the kitchen, so I walked closer to Tails.

"Sonic! You're here too? Cream invited me, we are close friends from when I was in elementary, before I skipped the grades." Tails explained.

"You're wearing the bracelet!" Cream ran to me and grabbed my hand.

"Of course. I love it. Thank you so much, Cream. I'll wear it forever." I patted her head, the same way I did for Tails sometimes.

"I made one for Tails too, look." She grabbed Tails hand. He tensed up and blushed, then scratched his muzzle nervously.

"Uhhh... yeah. She made me one, too." He said rather nervously as he let her hold his hand.

"I see. It's so cute." I smiled at Cream and grinned at Tails, causing him to retrieve his hand back and rub his face.

You got caught, Tails. I won't EVER let this one go.

"How did it go with Sally?" Tails asked me, changing the subject almost immediately. It was for the best, I could just imagine how Shadow would get if he found out Tails had a crush on his little sister.

"Whos Sally?" Cream asked as she took a step back. Shadow walked to us and handed me a drink. I thanked him and opened it.

"Something tells me this won't be the last time I see her. She didn't take it well. I tried to tell her I didn't want to be with her, but she kept trying to manipulate me into being with her. Thankfully, Shadow helped me out and got me out of there." I looked at Cream. "Sally is my ex. She wanted us to get back together." I started drinking from my soda.

"Get back together? I thought you were dating Shadow?" With that said, I spat out my drink, and Shadow started choking from his. We both started coughing.

"What? You thought Shadow and Sonic were together?" Tails laughed, Cream started laughing as well.

"Well, you two are always together." Cream shrugged.

"No. We aren't." Shadow said after he calmed down. He placed his drink down on the table, and I did so as well.

"But Rouge said that she was glad you and Sonic were seeing each other." My ears perked up, and I quickly snapped my head to look at Shadow. Hoping to get some kind of explanation. 

"As a friend, Cream." Shadow defended quickly.

"You think of Sonic as a friend?" Tails asked at the same time as I asked my question.

"You think of me as your friend?" I asked with a smile.

Shadow pinched the bridge of his nose, and I could tell he was mentally counting to try and not strangle me and Tails. He took in a deep breath, then sighed and walked away. Not before mumbling loud enough to me. "You're a pain."
