*Sonic's POV*
We were taken to a room that was beside the library. Once we were in, we took seats right behind each other, Sonia sitting at the front, I was behind her, and Manic was at the end. The classroom was still pretty empty, only a purple colored cat and a light pink colored hedgehog sitting beside each other at the corner of the room by the teachers desk. A green hedgehog sleeping with his head down at the back of the class and a silver colored one sitting at the front row a few seats away from Sonia.

The cat was holding the hedgehogs hand, painting her nails for her as they talked. They watched as we took our seats and then went back to their conversation. Soon enough, a white colored bat flew towards them.

"Guess we share the same homeroom." I turned to see Tails walking in once the bell rang. I smiled at him and patted the desk beside me.

"Guess we do, bud." More students came into the class and took their seats, the wrestling team walking in while shoving each other and laughing. A grumpy looking black hedgehog with red stripes walking beside them and a petite grey cat being the last one to enter before the teacher.

"Okay, everyone. Take a seat." When the teacher walked in, I instantly heard Manic groan out of boredom.

"We just got here. Shut up." Sonia glared at the two of us as if I was the problem. I rolled my eyes and rested my chin on the palm of my hand as I looked at the board where the teacher was writing the date and her name. Ms. Vanilla.

"Okay, class. First day of school, when I call your name, you stand up and present yourself." Ms. Vanilla said with a sweet smile, and we did as she was told.

Rouge, Knuckles, Mighty, Spike, Lucy, Amy, Blaze, Scourge, Silver, Tails, Shadow, Espio, and Mephiles. Espio and Mephiles had walked in just when Vanilla had started calling names. Those were the students who were in our homeroom classroom, students whom we will hopefully only see in the mornings for roll call and not in any actual classes. While some of them did catch my attention, there were some I thought it would be best we stayed away from.

"You three are new, aren't you?" Rouge pointed at me. She was sitting right beside Manic.

"Yeah. We just moved into town yesterday. First day here." I nodded.

"Explains why I've never seen you here before, big blue." She looked at her nails. "Nice to meet you." She extended her hand towards me, and I shook it, receiving a glare from the echidna who sat behind her as the one named Shadow also looked at me, glancing up and down then rolling his eyes and looking ahead.

Big blue? That one's a new one.

"Nice to meet you, Rouge." I ignored the two body guards she had and gave her a small smile.

"Silver. Would you care to pass the schedules?" Vanilla spoke softly to the silver hedgehog who sat almost right in front of her desk. He nodded and took the stack of papers that sat on her desk. He went from student to student, handing them out, and as soon as I got mine, it was snatched away from my hands by my brother.

"We've got math and science together and lunch, but this whole class has lunch together anyway. " Manic groaned, then stood up and walked to Sonia to compare schedules.

When the bell rang, I was finally given the chance to look at my schedule. "I've got history first."

"So do I." Sonia and Tails spoke in sync. They laughed, and Tails guided us to our classroom, dropping off Manic on the way.

"Classes are boring. Even for the first day." Manic complained as we stood in line to get our lunch.

"What could you possibly be complaining about now? Teachers are literally just listing what we are going to need for the class. Nothing else." Sonia hit him in the back of the head.

"Hey!" Manic glared at her. Tails and I ignored them we picked out our food.

"I was thinking. The three of you looked really familiar to me." Tails spoke up as we walked out of the line with the trays of our food looking for a table. "I finally figured out from where I have seen you from."

"Really? From where?" I raised a brow confused. We finally found a table under a tree and sat down, Manic and Sonia joining soon after. Tails set his tray down and took out his phone, showing us a picture of him and Chuck standing in front of his store with lab coats. "That's our uncle Chuck."

"You know Chuck?" Manic asked, immediately tossing a small fry in the air and catching it in his mouth.

Tails nodded with a soft laugh at Manics actions. "How?" Sonia asked, confused.

"I've worked with him before. I go to his shop a few times to ask for tools for one of my projects and end up helping him with some of his." He set his phone down and started eating. "He -" Tails was interrupted when Shadow bumped with his backpack because Rouge was talking to him.

"Shadow, be careful!" Rouge gasped, but he thankfully didn't drop anything, nor did he fall. Instead, he snapped his head to look at Tails and glared at him, instantly growling furiously.

"Pick up your stuff, Fox." He looked like he was going to raise his hand to Tails, so I quickly stood up, stretching my arm in front of Tails to block Shadow.

"Maybe watch where you step next time, Shadow." I grinned, not my usual happy, relaxed one but one more serious, that showed I was not messing around.

Shadows gaze snapped to meet mine. He handed the tray to Rouge then grabbed the collar of my shirt, and clenched it. I didn't react. That's what he wanted, and I knew it. His growl only growing louder as he noticed I wasn't giving him what he wanted.

"Let him go, Hun. It was my fault for distracting you." Rouge touched his shoulder, snapping him out of his anger and letting go of me. "I'm sorry about this blue. To you too, Tails."

"It's okay. Really." Tails said nervously, his ears lowered. I fixed my shirt and nodded at her as well.

"It's fine." With enough said, she walked beside Shadow, taking him away from us.

"Thanks for that." Tails mumbled.

"Hey, what are friends for, right?" I chuckled as I took a seat again and started eating.

I should say this now but I obviously had to change Shadow and Maria's story for this book. It will explain later on in the story.
