*Sonic's POV*
I woke up, and the first thing I saw was the picture of Shadow and Maria. My head was throbbing, my sight was blurry, and my mouth felt dry. I knew by the picture that I was in Shadows' room, but how did I even get here? Wasn't I just talking to Eggman in his office?

"Shadow?" My voice was low. It was almost a whisper, but it still managed to get the one I was calling into view.

"What happened?" He helped me sit up as I held my head in pain.

"I-" I stopped, rubbing my face to try and get my vision back at 100 percent. 

"Rouge found you unconscious in his office. I thought you said you'd be careful! Did he get you -" He raised his voice, which only made the headache worse.

"My powers? Energy? No." I stopped. "Well, I don't think so." He growled at that.

"What do you mean?" He was glaring at me, I could see that now.

"Will you shut up?" I snapped. I couldn't help it. My head was hurting, and he was only making it worse.

"What did you just -" It only angered him more every time I didn't listen to him. It was fun, actually. The power I held over him. But this wasn't the time.

"I said. Shut up. Let me think." I raised my hand in front of me. Motioning to stop. He did, much to my surprise. The room fell silent. "I remember going in his office. Remember asking him what he was calling me for. He said he wanted to talk to me about joining some sports to represent the school. It was an innocent question, so I answered him calmly, I kept my guard up because of what you said. I made sure to locate as many exit routes as I could just in case."

"So then why were you still there?" Shadow crossed his arms again.

"We talked for about 10 minutes about my chances, the opportunities he could give me if I just listened to him and joined whatever he told me to join. But I refused and he changed the subject." I pushed my quills back.

"To what, hedgehog?" Shadow sat down at the edge of the bed.

"He said he would make me listen to him. Make me obey him one day." I shook my head. "But that I was fine for now. Told me I could get back to class. Then." I stopped, remembering what had happened. I touched my ears and covered them, then let go. "Then, when I reached the door to leave, this noise came over the intercom."

"Noise? What noise? There was no noise coming out of the intercom today. Only the one time they were calling some teachers to the library." Shadow tried to make sense of what I was talking about. But I couldn't even understand correctly, and I lived it.

"I don't know. I just." I sighed. "I remember this high pitch sound that caused me to fall, and that's where I can't remember anything else." I rubbed my face.

"Get up and run." He demanded. "Now." He growled.

I did what he asked. I was worried about that too but everything was fine. I was running like usual, running at the perfect speed like I usually do.

"What did he want from you then?" Shadow asked himself, confused.

"I don't know. I'm just glad he didn't get what he wanted." I stopped then looked up at him. "Wait. How long was I there for? What time is it?" I suddenly panicked.

"Hours. It's barely 1. School isn't done for another 2 and a half hours." He said and laid down on his bed. Somehow, seeing him this calm made me feel happy.

"Are you not going back?" I asked and sat down beside him. He didn't flinch or move. He just shook his head and looked at the picture on his nightstand. "Well, I am not feeling very well still, do you mind if I stay?" I lied.

He used his forearms to push himself slightly up just enough so he could see me and then raise a brow at me. I smiled softly at him, resulting in him laying back down and rolling his eyes.

"Fine." He gave in easily.

I laid down as well, my legs hanging off the bed as I looked up at the ceiling. "You want to watch a movie or something?" I asked, causing him to groan. I laughed. "Come on. It will help pass the time."

"Are you going to stay here until school is over?" Shadow sat up and looked down at me. I shrugged. "Get out." He pointed at the door.

"Nah." I laughed. "You already said yes. You're stuck with me now." I stuck out my tongue, only getting him angrier. I could tell he was trying his hardest not to kill me. So I changed the subject. "Hey, so what do you think of Mephiles and Silver?"

Shadow scoffed and rested back against his bed frame then grabbed the remote to his TV and turned it on. I smiled and scooted closer, sitting beside him but leaving some space between us.

"Mephiles is stupid for going on trying to date someone. Letting people into your life is never good." He rolled his eyes, then grabbed his phone and set an alarm after he found a movie he was comfortable watching.

"I don't think that's true." I hummed and grabbed Shadows blanket, wrapping it around myself and putting some on top of Shadow. He looked down and then looked back up at the TV. He tried to ignore the fact we were sharing a blanket, but I could tell he wanted to just push me off the bed because of it.

"Really? Says the one who was used and stepped on for years." His words hurt, my ears lowered, and I stayed quiet and watched the movie. We both remained silent.

*Rouge's POV*
"Wait for me here. I need to go check on Shadow real quick." I said to Knuckles and immediately flew away before he could follow me or say anything. I flew as fast as I could while trying to call him, but he wasn't picking up.

"If you're not dead, I am going to kill you myse-" I stopped once I opened the door and saw Sonic leaning on Shadows shoulder, while Shadows head rested on top of Sonics. They were asleep, sharing a blanket. The TV was on, showing the credits to a movie.

I hung up the phone, which was leaving the voice message to Shadow, and slowly closed the door as I walked out. I was as quiet as I could but quickly left when I heard his alarm go off.

Well. Well. Well. Seems like Sonic got closer to Shadow than I originally imagined.
