◩28. One Last Time
Author's POV
Right after being swept by the force of the lightning and other things, Namjoon and Jin were thrown in front of the gates of the ghost world. They were knocked unconscious due to the heavy impact. Ghosts can also be knocked unconscious, but it just takes more effort than humans. Though perhaps the forces of the light purposefully made them faint, so they won't be able to witness how the powers finally brought them back to the ghost world.
Angels, helpers, and medical bots were immediately notified in advance of 2 beings appearing back in the ghost world. So right after Jin and Namjoon landed on the ground, people waiting on the security gates quickly grabbed them on the stretchers and rushed them to the paranormal hospital. Yes, paranormal beings like ghosts also need medical services because they are not immortal demons or angels ok! I don't know how many times I will have to emphasise that. ;-;
So anyway, right after the two beings were rushed into the ER, they were given various treatments and magical potions so they could get out of the shock that was caused by the magic that brought them here. I guess the forces of the light can be very powerful as well.
Also on a side note, the forces of the light were basically the powers of Heaven that allowed the two to get back . And no, it wasn't something that could easily be used for help by saying the spell out loud. Let's just say, The Heavens truly pitied the two after the amount of grotesque pain they had been through.
It's been a few days since Namjoon and Jin woke up from their unconsciousness and finally got discharged. A lot of Jin's friends obviously came to give them a visit and moral support. Though, there was a weird fear and paranoia that built up in Jin. The number of days that he went through the mental torture Jimin gave him, finally got to him. Whenever the thought of going to the last dimension to find his soul came to his mind, shivers ran down endlessly along his lanky and thin body along with goosebumps that grew up without any warnings.
He would spend so much of his time just covered in a fluffy blanket while being in the arms of Namjoon and staring out of the window at the rain to distract himself from the trauma. He tried to relax his mind and think about things in his surroundings, just like his doctor said. But nothing was helping, he couldn't stand a second without being with Namjoon. I know it sounds as if he's being too clingy, but the man went through his scariest phase in his afterlife, even scarier than the time he got framed and went to jail for it. But regardless of that, Namjoon didn't mind one bit about it.
For Namjoon, he was the polar opposite of Jin. He didn't know what got into him, but he was more chill than a cube of ice. His heart became cold after the endless amount of abuse and maybe that's a reason why he isn't in a situation like Jin. He has already been through this phase with his parents, but obviously not as bad as with Taehyung, but still. Namjoon was broken to the point that his mind, heart, and his metaphorically wounded parts became numb.
He still had his slight cheery and optimistic part deep inside him, but it was not going to come out now or any sooner. Though, the only thing that didn't get affected inside him was his love for Jin. He loved Jin just like he used to do before, maybe even more now, really. And now that he's with his love, he's going to take care of him as much as he can. He had to pay Jin back for his foolish mistakes and obviously because he couldn't just leave his Jin in this kind of situation.
The two were currently on the couch, cuddling each other while watching the rain pour down outside the wall-sized window. The humongous TV was also playing, but it was more of a background noise than something that had all the attention on itself.
Jin laid his head on Namjoon's chest and nuzzled his face in the elder's neck crook as if he was a cat cuddling with his owner. Namjoon had a hand wrapped around Jin's waist and another one patting his head.
No one was speaking right now, but they were just enjoying each other's warmth and presence. Suddenly, Namjoon brought up a triggering topic after a long while. "Jinnie?" Namjoon said softly. Jin hummed in response. "I know you might not want to talk about this, but...are you really not going to go to the last dimension to get your soul?"
Jin's eyes widened slightly, his blood nearly ran cold with the topic being raised. His brain suddenly jumped into all the scenarios it made up in the past days about being separated again. His body unconsciously started shaking lightly. Namjoon noticed that and immediately hugged him tighter than before. "I-I am sorry for bringing it up. You don't need to answer it if you don't want to. Forgot what I just said." Namjoon said quickly, trying not to make matters worse.
Jin just sighed and controlled the building panic and fear inside him. He can't run from his problems and goals forever, can he? "It's fine," He said quietly, still staring at the rain. "We eventually had to talk about it, anyway." Jin looked down while fiddling with his fingers. "But you know what happened...to us when we went there right?" Jin bit his lips and Namjoon just nodded his head. "I do"
"So how in the world am I supposed to possibly go to another dimension with the possibility of you and me getting separated again by those stupid kings!?" Jin raised his voice slightly but took a long breath and controlled himself. Namjoon flinched a little but kept on hearing him out. "But then...as you said before, the shadows and people from that side can't go EVERYWHERE, even the kings. So perhaps this might be the dimension where none of them are allowed to come. And even if they are, maybe they are restricted by the spells of the light side on that dimension, to use any of their powers or interact with the beings over there.
Like here in the ghost world, you said that no evil spirit is allowed to come. So maybe it's the same over there." Namjoon said intelligently. This made something click in Jin's brain. Suddenly, the power of logic made half of his fears go away slightly. Namjoon looked at Jin and saw how deep in thought he was, meaning that he was really thinking about what Joon just said now.
Namjoon smiled knowing that Jin was thinking about going there if the spells of the light still applied in the last dimension in their journey, the Dimension of Numbers and Science. It was one of the most important dimensions of this whole universe due to it having things that revolve our universe. Time, science, and numbers are the things that make up our planet.
Jin bit his lips and looked at Namjoon nervously. Namjoon just kept his comforting smile on his handsome face. "So? Are you finally thinking about going there?" There was a pause in words between them for a few minutes before Jin finally replied. "Y-yes, but we might only go there after I've done researching and making sure that there's no possibility of any dark forces coming our way," Jin said strictly
Namjoon just chuckled. "Of course, take your time, there's no rush." "And promise me you will help me throughout the way." Jin pouted while looking up at Joon. Namjoon on the other nodded. "Obviously, I will still help you whether you like it or not" They both chuckled. "So should we go to the grand library to begin our research from there?" Jin asked while standing up and fixing his clothes. Namjoon also stood up and nodded his head while heading out of the house with Jin.
It was still surprising that Jin agreed but quite a lot of time had passed already, so at this point, he just had to finally take the thought of going to the dimension.
And from that day until the whole week, the two spent countless hours researching in books, talking to helpers and angels in the help desk, talking to many administrative people and then eventually friends. They had gathered all the information they needed to gain their confidence in the fact that they could freely go to that dimension safely and finally find Pandora's box.
It was a day before the two were finally going to leave for the other dimension. Jin was feeling as if he was going to the final war of the world. He literally called all of his friends over to his house and celebrated a farewell party JUST IN CASE, everybody including Namjoon was laughing on the inside at how dramatic and scared Jin was. But for him, they all decided to come to the party. Though, from time to time they kept telling Jin that he wasn't going to get captured again or something. And before everybody left Jin shedded a few tears, again, just in case he doesn't see any of them again. The man's traumatised ok! Don't judge him!
At night, while they were in their bedroom, the two ended up watching 8 episodes of a legal Kdrama in one sitting, which was surprisingly at Jin's request. The younger was really trying to distract himself and also was trying to do everything he could before anything bad happened again. Namjoon kept telling Jin that nothing would happen, but well, in defeat Namjoon just cuddled with Jin while having a fun time watching the serious yet thrilling drama.
The Next Day
It was finally the day when the two had to go to their second last destination, the last dimension, the Dimension of Numbers and Science. Jin was rethinking his decisions and Namjoon was chill as ever. Perfect combination! Jin got into his meditating position and Namjoon in the playing position. Just like before, Joon was going to play soft piano music while Jin read the entire spell. None of them were complaining...ok maybe Jin was, but just a little bit.
And just like before, as soon as Jin closed his eyes, Namjoon's hands immediately started playing soft melodies.
