⨮20. Realisation

Author's POV

It was the morning after Namjoon took the pledge of not leaving Jin. He did not even one bit regret his actions, he was proud of himself that he finally got the courage to do so. Though, the fella wasn't in a good mood. He just had a nightmare yesterday. So there he sat at the garden chair, trying to empty his brain out by looking at the beautiful scenery and breathing fresh air. And he has been doing this as soon as he woke up.

Jin noticed the actions of the elder ever since he woke up today as well. He felt that the other was...not like the usual. He wasn't his usual bubbly and happy self. And honestly, that's fine. People can't be happy and stressless all the time. If they are, then it's not real, they are mostly lying. But the problem is, if you keep your emotions and problems bottled up, deep inside, then it can affect you, just like a disease. It will keep growing and growing until it becomes so powerful that it destroys your life and in the end...kills you.

But anyway, the situation right now is probably not that bad, or maybe it is. But whatever it is, Jin is still going to talk to Joon about it. So he made his way to the place where Namjoon was at and sat on the opposite chair as him. He put two coffee mugs down and looked at the sky above them. Namjoon realised that the younger one was sitting in front of him, but didn't say anything, he just kept staring at the table.

"Explain," said Jin plainly, while still looking around. Namjoon looked up with a frown on his face. Probably because he didn't understand what the younger meant. "What do you mean?" Joon asked. "Explain what's going on in your brain. If not then I will burn down the piano" Jin said casually again. Namjoon just scoffed. "as if you actually will..." "Just tell meeee" Jin whined while finally looking at him.

Namjoon rolled his eyes and sighed. "Fine. I had a nightmare yesterday" Jin's listened attentively. "about?" "About my... e-ex-parents. I saw that they somehow came here and started..." He sighed once again before speaking. "throwing all their usual harsh words towards me. They hit me a couple of times and that's about it..." Namjoon's had traces of dreadfulness outlined with pain. It even hurt Jin, seeing the person he loved the most in the universe, in pain.

"You know, I sometimes agree with them. Not sometimes actually, most of the time. Maybe I AM a disgrace to the world, maybe I AM an embarrassment. Maybe I really shouldn't have been born. Maybe I AM a mistake." Namjoon's face looked as if he was in so much pain that he became numb. And well, what do you expect from him. The man has been sucking up his pain for years now without spilling a single bean about how HE was feeling. Or how much tears he might have cried while bottling and sucking up his emotions that he calls 'pathetic'.

Jin was boiling in anger on the inside. But he tried keeping his cool. Though, his fist was clenched tightly. He took a long breath before speaking. "So that's what you think, huh? Well, you know what? Let's handle this practically." Namjoon raised an eyebrow. "What evidence do you have that all of these statements that you said are true? How can I believe your words?" Namjoon was slightly shocked at what the other was asking but still spoke.

And before you start grinching like me at the way he is handling this. Well, just so you know, these two idiots always handled complicated situations like this because they couldn't help but bring their emotions in everything so they had to be pretty practical and look at it from a 3rd person view. And don't judge them ok! If even the dumbest of ways can help out of a problem...then well good!

"W-well, I got low grades in my test and assignments-" He got cut off. "Well, what's the lowest? Around 50-60 and what do you usually get? Around 70-80. It's average." "But I still don't do the best and get average marks-" "Well, it's because you are doing it forcefully, you have practically no interest in any things that you are being told to study, and you know that when a person doesn't have interest in things, it's harder to get the best in it. And even though you hate it, you are still getting pretty decent scores for your kind of situation."

Namjoon was in aw, the tables literally turned. He thought that he would have a breakdown while crying that he was worthless and couldn't do anything. But this guy over just wronged him in his words and even set an argument. "But I can't meet my parents' expectations." "Well, that's because they have unrealistic expectations. If someone has expectations like, 'I want you to go get actual asteroids from space and bring them to me.' Or like, 'I want you to bring me a great white shark all by yourself, and YOU should be the one to kill it alone.' What are you supposed to do when the expectations are JUST not possible to be done."

"B-but...topping in every single exam is not unrealistic...so I should be able to do it right?" "But you don't actually want to do it. You have practically no interest, and you are just forcing yourself. And how do you expect yourself to do too well when doing law is both mentally and emotionally affecting you. Can't you see, your body is trying to tell you to stop doing this. And if they were actually your parent's then they would have stopped and tried realising their mistakes and the pressure they were putting on you."

"But t-then, why didn't my parents stop me?! Why did they say all of these mean things to me if they knew all of this was unrealistic if they knew that my heart and soul doesn't want to do this?! How do you know that all of the things they said were untrue!?" Namjoon shouted while clear yet salty tears rolled down his now pale cheeks. Jin was speechless, he was shocked at the reaction of the elder. He knew that he came from a lot due to all the things that happened between him and his family, but he didn't expect this.

"You wanna know how all the things they said are untrue?" Jin asked with slight wrath. Namjoon nodded his head aggressively. "Let's look at this conclusively. You are a law student so you know you can't be biased in situations like these. Lets see their actions with the victim being a different person and not you. We can take me as an example. If my parents were beating me due to the only factor that I wanted to become a professional pianist then that's wrong. And why is that wrong? Because the factor of their actions is not strong and is childish.

These actions are obviously repeated with purposeful intentions because the parents knew exactly what they were inflicting upon their child. Meaning that it's not an accident that had happened only once. And they used the advantage of being the victims parent's to assault their youngest son. And now if we add all of these pieces of evidence together, what does it tell us about his parents?" Namjoon was in awe and dismay of what Jin was trying to direct him to.

"It t-tells us that...his parents were....abusive" Jin sighed in relief that the elder finally understood the situation. Just at that moment, Namjoon's world crashed and fell apart more than before. I know that it seems that it's obvious for anyone to realise that they were being abused, but in reality, it's really not. Due to manipulation and emotional bonds with the abuser, the victim of the abuse doesn't realise that they are being intentionally hurt for something that's just so irrelevant.

More tears fell down Joon's cheeks. "So now that we know what kind of people they are, we know why they might be saying this to the boy. Because they want to destroy him mentally as well. And do all the things they might say have to be true? Absolutely not! They actually might have been exaggerating his weaknesses to make him feel worse. So in conclusion, the things that they said were not true. And you can't take fake shreds of evidence to fight your argument!

So don't even fucking dare to say that you are worthless if you don't have proper evidence to support your claim!" Jin raised his voice before heavily breathing and looking away. His eyes were red and flooding with tears. He was not completely mad at Joon, he was just mad at the fact...that his parents actually destroyed his brain and manipulated Joon against his own self. And well, he didn't want this manipulation to be the cause of...Namjoon's death.

Namjoon noticed and went towards him. He hugged him tightly. Jin obviously hugged him back. "T-thank you...for helping me realise...in what kind of situation I was in. If it wasn't for you...then I would have been self-doubting myself very harshly." "It's fine, I am also sorry for raising my voice at you. I just hated the fact...you think like that of yourself. " Jin gave a weak smile. Namjoon nodded understandingly

After 15 minutes of coozing each other, they both went back to normal. "So are we going to another dimension today aswell?" "Well yes, and two actually! But if you don't want to go today then it's fine-" "No, No! I do want to go, but can we go after a while?" "Yeah, sure! Fine by me!" "What dimensions are we travelling to, though?" "The Dimension of Truth and Lies and if we can then to the Dimension of Night and day." Namjoon nodded his head. "Great!"

Dimension of Truth and Lies

They both landed in the desired dimension and were shocked by how it looked. The whole place was completely black and white. The only colourful things that were, were the bodies of Jin and Namjoon and their outfits. Now that's what you call being an outcast. Ok, that was a joke, don't sue me.

Anyways, so everything was just black or white. The buildings, the workers, the sky, everything. The ground was like a chessboard, black and white. By now you get the point. "Wow, this is so good for my emo self," Joon said in awe. Jin just chuckled and pulled him somewhere. "Come on, we need to search at some specific places. After that, I will show you a cool place located somewhere here." Jin pulled him towards some huge building. And just like that, they started searching again.

A Few Hours Later

Namjoon and Jin stood in front of a huge mirror place. And obviously, it wasn't your ordinary mirror place. "What...is this?" Namjoon asked, confused. "This place is called The Mirrors of Truth. It tells you the truth if you go in front of them and ask something. It's basically the magic mirror of the Evil Queen from Snow White. But instead, the mirror actually tells the brutal truth and does not speak. Basically, words will appear in the mirror you spoke to, which obviously tells the truth.

Though sometimes even if you don't ask it anything, it will just tell a random truth about you. There are also many types of mirrors that tell specific truths, such as Mirror of wisdom, Mirror of deeds and more. You can discover various types of mirrors." "Wow, that's amazing!" And just like that, they soon made their way inside the place.

Namjoon went in front of various mirrors and so did Jin. Namjoon found out that he WAS in fact a weirdo. He also found out that he was a sub-I MEAN, he was a pretty nice and loyal person. Heheheh! ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

The tall lanky male went in front of one specific mirror that he had his eyes on, The Soulmate Mirror. At first, he didn't know what it was for, but then his mind went back to all the fanfics and web novels he read in the past. And well, he kind of knew what this mirror MIGHT be about.

He was about to ask something until red coloured words started appearing on it.

'Your soulmate is, your best friend, Kim Seokjin.'

Ok, I know that the abuse part was not really good and not that realistic either, but I just tried to take inspiration from real-life, ok. So don't be harsh regarding the fact that it's not too realistic because I tried my hardest ;-;

But regardless of everything, thank you for reading! ^-^
