Behind Blue Eyes
I walked along the beach at dusk, pulling my sweater further over my hands as the chilly breeze struck me. I stopped walking and stared at the water
"I can't believe Summer is already over..", I thought to myself. I silently cursed it. Why couldn't time stop for a little while, just long enough for me to figure myself out. Soon, I'd have to go back to America.
I was lucky enough to travel to England this summer as an exchange student. I was excited at first, until I found that I didn't fit in there either. It was a beautiful place, but I didn't meet one person all summer that I could call a friend. I was lonely, and ready to go home. I was sad that I couldn't take this trip of a lifetime more to my own advantage.
"I should be having fun," I thought. "These are supposed to be the best years of my life, and now I've got to go back to school, where I have no freedom." I sighed and picked up a rock off the ground and threw it into the raging English sea.
"That was a good throw."
The voice made my heart thump, as I thought I had been alone in this area. I slowly turned around, surprised to find a handsome blond with the most beautiful blue eyes. They pierced me like nothing else before, practically taking my breath away and leaving me in a trance like state.
"Um.. Excuse me?" I quietly spoke out. It was getting darker now, and I hadn't noticed, but my teeth were lightly chattering as I gripped my arms to keep myself warm. The nights on the beach, with the breeze coming off it could be quite chilly, even in August. I noticed him smile at me before taking off his suede jacket.
"Here, why don't you take this. You aren't exactly dressed for the weather tonight, I see." I looked down at myself to see my striped shorts and my short sleeved shirt. He was right, I should have at least brought a sweater. He began to drape his jacket over my shoulders, and he smiled at the sight as it practically swallowed me. Even though he was a stranger, I felt oddly safe around him. I didn't feel like he was someone I couldn't trust, so I went with my instincts.
"Thank you", I said, feeling much better with my arms in the warmth he left in the sleeves. He gave me a nod and lit a cigarette.
"Hey", he said between drags, "you're American!" I blushed and looked down, smiling. "Yes, I am. I'm going back in two days." I noticed that his look had a hint of sadness in it when I said this. "Let's take a walk, yeah?", he said. I gave a look of uncertainty. I had just met him. He must have noticed my reluctance because he said, "Don't worry, I won't hurt you or anything. I just want someone to talk to." He smiled at me and offered his arm, which I slowly laced my own through.
I trusted him because that's exactly what I wanted too; someone to talk to. He took me to a local diner, and I got myself some fries and a shake, as he ordered what seemed like the whole menu. We talked over the food, and realized we had a lot in common. We both dug the same music and had similar jokes to tell one another. He was very funny, and charming. He mentioned he wanted to be a musician someday, and that he was in a band called the Detours. His name, he told me, was Roger.
We had a wonderful night that I'll cherish forever. He walked me to where I was staying at, and kissed my lips gently before walking away. That night I laid in bed, thinking of him. Especially those gorgeous blue eyes he had.
Two days later, as I boarded my flight, I wondered more about him, and what lies behind his blue eyes.
I hope you like this Megan!! <3
