24-Shoot Yourself
Chapter Twenty-Four
Shoot Yourself
I thought she was going to charge straight at us, but instead she gave us a wicked smile as she waited for us to make the first move.
"If you're not going to fight us could you let us go?" I asked harshly.
Without waiting for a response I whipped around and moved towards the other room, only to have Missy flip in front of my path.
"What even are you to Slick?" I demanded. "His Harley Quinn?"
She laughed and licked her teeth. "I like the sound of that."
"It wasn't a compliment," I hissed. Being fed up, I used my shield to force her out of my way, only to watch in surprise as she jumped out of it's path just in time.
I was caught off guard as she too, used a purple force-like power to throw me to the other side of the room.
"She has defence powers like me," I grunted, picking myself up.
It was Static's turn to charge at her, so he ran straight at her, tackling her to the floor.
He used his super strength to punch her in the gut, only to have her grip his fist before it reached her.
"What the..." he was cut short as she threw him to the other side of the room. I raised my brows in surprise and shock.
"Well come on now," he crossed her arms, "who's going to come at me next?"
"No one," I answered. "We're not looking for a fight."
She threw her head back and laughed. The sound of it made me shiver.
"Funny thing is," she pointed a finger at me. "I'm looking for a fight."
I shook my head. I didn't want to play games, by it felt as we had to get past her to reach the final boss fight.
"Just try to get around her," Static said. "I'll shock her."
I didn't question him, so instead i went forward, making my way to the path Missy was blocking.
She stood there watching me. I tried passing her, but she would jump in whichever way I was going for. She didn't attack.
I bit my lip and shot out my shield, to which she was able to deflect using the shield of the same kind.
"Mimicry," Static said from behind me.
"What?" I asked, and watched as Missy smiled even bigger.
"Someone figured it out," she smirked and let out a high laugh.
"She can mimic any powers used against her," he said, and it finally made sense.
"Still thinking of shocking me?" She teased.
"Go," Static told me. "Don't use any powers. Just try to get around her and find Slick, she she's too afraid to touch you."
"What will you do?" I asked him.
He sent me a charming smile, and in this instant only then did I realize how gorgeous he looked when he smiled.
"I'll do my best," he assured me.
I nodded and turned my attention back to Missy, who was glaring at the both of us.
I took charge, Static behind me. I approached her again, and this time I could see the fear in her eyes.
I easily slid past her as she focused her eyes on Static, looking fearful.
I felt bad for the girl, I really did. But I had no time for pity as I rushed out of the room and into the hall.
Now I had to figure out where to find Slick. I had no time to run throughout the building again. So if I were an evil super-villain wannabe, where would I go?
The roof.
I ran towards the emergency exit, which lead me to the stairwell.
I ran up, jumping two steps at a time. My legs were burning, reminding me of how unfit I was, but I managed to make it to the top floor in a reasonable time.
I stopped at the door, and took time to regain my breath. What was I to expect? What will he have up there? Will he even be there?
With an ounce of courage, I pushed the door open and took a step onto the roof. The wind hit me like a cool breeze, and I could spot Slick's black cape moving in the wind.
He was standing near the edge as he over looked the city. For a moment I thought he was going to jump, until he turned around to face me.
He opened his arms and smiled at me. "Now, how'd you find me?"
"You're all for dramatics," I said. "Of course you'd be up here."
He took small steps in my direction, as he inched his way towards me. "Now, how do you suppose you bring an end to my master plan?"
I caught sight of a little black ear piece resting on his ear. Speaking of which, I reached up to ask Graeme if that was what I should be going for, only to realize me ear chip had been lost long ago.
Slick laughed and shook his head. "You want to you your friend Graeme? Well here he is."
I whipped around as the doors busted open, to see Graeme being man handled by two of Slick's Shadows.
"- it's impossible! How would they have managed that kind of technology back then? The moon landing is a hoax!" Graeme cried.
"Graeme!" I cried, and ran forward to reach him only to be pulled back by Slick, who had found his way to my side.
"Not so fast," Slick said. "He's not here for the fun of it. Your friend has been brought here to watch you shoot yourself."
"What?" Both Graeme and I asked.
Slick handed me a gun and pressed it to my palm. "You're going to shoot yourself."
"No I'm not!" I yelled at him.
"You are going to shoot yourself," be repeated through gridded teeth.
"I-I am going to shoot myself," I said. Wait, no I'm not!
I found my hand lifting the gun and pressing it to the side of my head.
"Skylar don't!" Graeme screamed, and I watched as he struggled in the arms of the Shadows.
"On the count of three," Slick said.
"Skylar! Stop it!" Graeme shrieked.
"One."
My heart was hammering in my chest, as I had no control of my body.
"Two."
Graeme was frolicking around. Twisting and turning, trying to get out of their grip.
"Th-"
And in the moment something very strange happened. The two Shadows were quickly impaled by ice, and Graeme came sprinting at me to knock the gun out of my hand.
"What?" Slick cried.
Upon hearing his voice, Graeme's eyes flared and he ran at Slick, pulling the ear chip from off his ear as Slick let out a cry.
My muscles released and it felt like I weighed a ton. I let out a gasp, as I felt out my muscles once more.
"You can hurt me as much as you want," Graeme pointed and accusing finger at Slick. "But you do not hurt my family!"
Slick tried to get away but his mask was knocked off his face, to reveal the super behind.
My jaw dropping in disbelief at the sight. "Grayson?"
His eyes widened in fear, and he took off, flying upwards to get away.
But before he could move any further, Ice shot from Graeme's hands, and trapped in an ice block. He came crashing back down, landing as the ice broke and flew everywhere.
I ran back to Graeme, trapping him in a tight hug.
"Graeme!" I cried. "You saved us! You saved the whole city!"
"I have Elsa Powers!" He screamed, jumping in the air.
I threw my head back and laughed. "Yes you do!"
I watched, grinning ear to ear, as my friend jumped around in excitement. The only possible emotion I could be feeling in this moment was happiness and relief. We had done it, and we were proud.
