23-I'm Here To Play

Chapter Twenty-Three
I'm Here To Play

Just a quick recap to get you guys caught up. Basically, Audrey and Drew disappeared one morning and once Skylar arrived at school she realized they were under some kind of hypnosis, as they gave students these microchips. They were told they were trackers but they were actually being used so Slick could control the population.

Sam revealed himself to be Beast, a Super (not Static ahaha) and then Static came in and brought Sky and Sam to his lair where they found Graeme. They all earned a warning from Slick, telling them to head to City Hall. They headed, and once they got in, they all got trapped and then it continues from last chapter.

Chapter Twenty-Three

I came to another hall, one that felt longer than the rest. I took a moment, before creeping slowly beside the narrow walls, almost as if I were afraid they'd crush me.

There were no doors. It was just one long, dark hall. I stared at the end of it, and i could make out dim lights.

I started to pick up my pace. I didn't know how long it would be until someone found me. I dug my heels into the ground with every step, trying to reach the end.

As I approached the end of the hall, I could see it was a big open room. And in the middle, laid Static.

I took off in a sprint towards him, pushing my legs as fast as they could take me.

He was laid out on one of those chairs you see in horror movies, the ones where scientists do weird experiments on you. The only difference was that he wasn't surrounded in glass jars full of unknown substances, or funny looking machines. There was furniture all around him.

I gripped his arms, trying to shaking him while inspecting for injuries.

"Static?" I asked. "Static, its Skylar. You have to wake up."

He remained motionless, still strapped into the chair. My eyes widened and I quickly brought my ear to his mouth to see if he was breathing.

I could hear his breath, and he was breathing steadily. I brought my head up to watch him, with his chest rising and falling.

Maybe he was under some kind of anesthetic? Is that why he couldn't move?

"Static," I nudged him gently once more. I was praying he'd wake up, because time was crucial at the moment and I didn't have time to find a way to carry him out.

I clenched my jaw. I let out a frustrated breath as I started unstrapping him myself, letting his limbs fall loosely from position.

But a hitch in his breath, or some kind of hiccup, caused me to look up to find him lining awake.

"Thank god," I sighed, bringing my hands up to cup his cheeks. "Please Static, you need to help me get us out of here."

He blinked again. His eyes rolled around until they met mine, and he blinked again, before narrowing.

He sat up, ignoring my hands. He kept his eyes locked on mine as he furrowed his brows.

I opened my mouth to speak, by nothing came out as I found his hands wrapped tightly around my neck.

In a flash, he slammed me back down and my body hit the floor.

After a moment of shock, I gained back my senses quick enough before he tried planting his foot into my intestines.

I rolled over, his foot missing me. I pulled myself back up to my feet, only to be met with a punch to the gut.

I groaned, and his other hand went up for another go but I was quickly enough to deflect it.

He was sent sprawling back, flipping over the chair.

He was still under control. He wasn't himself. I had to snap him out of it.

Before I could reach for my keychain, he was back on his feet, coming straight at me before shoving me across the room into the drywall at my back.

It made a loud bang, and most definitely left a big hold in the wall. I shook it off, and opened my eyes to see Static coming at me again.

My eyes widened as he raised his foot to kick me, but i swiftly jumped over it, but went tumbling over as his fist caught my head.

My mind was throbbing, and I quickly let out my shield which sent him flying across the room.

As I watched Static get up from where he landed, I quickly dug my hand into my bra as I searched for the keychain.

I managed to grab hold of the eyes and I pulled them out, fiddling with them in my hands as I searched for the light.

I got the wind knocked out of me as Static flew straight into my gut, causing us both to fly into the shelf at the wall behind us.

The light slipped from my hands, flying somewhere across the room.

Static pinned one arm to the ground, but before he could grab my other I twisted and slipped from his grasp.

I tried searching the room for the light, and I caught sight of it on the other side of the room.

I quickly jumped up to grab it, only to have my ankle pulled back, causing me to slip and fall forward down on my chin.

"Argh!" I shouted. Pain shot through my face.

Ignoring the pain, I tried pushing myself back up, only to be held in spot by an electrifying sensation.

I immediately forced our my shield, shooting Static across the room.

I let out a loud groan, breathing hard. I clenched my fists. He electrified me. Tried to, at least. He barely even used that power, I had almost forgotten he could do that.

Now I was scared. This time I didn't want to come close to him.

My body was on fire, but I frantically picked myself and dashed across the room, all for a little light.

I didn't know if Static was still behind me, or if he was up on his feet. I didn't care, I just wanted the Static I knew. The good Static.

But once again, my attempt to reach the small flashlight did not succeed. I was thrown to the side of the room, landing on my side. I let out a cry of pain.

Static was coming at me again, and my mind was in a panic.

I glanced back at the light laying five feet away, and back at Static who was charging in my direction.

With a second to spare, the light came flying into my palm and I managed to light it right in Static's face, only moments before impact.

It all happened fast, he was mid sprint as his eyes widened and he found himself going limp as the momentum carried him straight into me.

He crashed into me, pressing me to the wall before the both of us tumbled forward.

"Ah!" I yelped, falling onto him.
I rolled over, so that I wasn't laying on him.

I shut my eyes tight, panting. I could hear him breathing beside me, taking heavy breaths.

"Static?" I sat up, turning my head to face him.

His eyes were shut and a bead of sweat had collected on his forehead. He grimaced, still struggling to catch his breath.

"What happened?" He gasped, blinking his eyes open. He opened and closed his fists.

"We were fighting," I told him," I brought you back to reality."

He blinked again and slowly sat up, still recovering. "Are you okay?"

I nodded slowly. "Yeah, but we have to get going. We're no closer to Slick than we were before."

I grabbed his hand and helped pull him to his feet. Static made a face as he tried stretching his muscles, but quickly shook it off.

"I just got here and you two are leaving already?"

I whipped my head around to see a Super, one I've never seen before. She was dressed in hot pink spandex, with heels higher than my grades.

Her eyes seemed to pop in contrast to her pink mask, and I watched as she brushed away a strand of curly brown hair.

"Who are you?" I demanded.

"Who are you?" She mimicked in a high tone, placing her hands on her hips. "Supers are supposed to be famous, aren't they?" She asked. "But apparently not Villains." She hissed.

"The name's Missy," she said, and started to stride towards us, her heels clicking against the tile.

"You're delusional if you think you can seriously take us down," Static spat, "you're irrelevant in this city."

She clicked her tongue and shook her finger. "Honey I'm not here to fight," she grinned and tilted her head. "I'm here to play."
