The Orphan Fangirl
I looked up at the castle. Its huge torrents were nearly impossible not to stare at.
"I wish I could be a princess." I whispered. I resumed my begging, not for scraps, or money, but for information. It had been six years since Princess Alaniana was sent away to Freedonia, and her ship was attacked by pirates.
The only reason I knew this was because I was her fangirl. I heard every truth and myth I could about her, like how her room was supposedly haunted by her ghost. I slept outside the castle gates. I bought a dress that was rumored to be hers. I memorized every bit of information about her that I could.
Marching broke my thoughts. "Left, Right, Left, Right, Left!" the drill sergeant called.
"The guards!" I gasped, running up to meet them. "Any news of the Princess?"
As always, I was met with silence.
"Hey, Miss, we haven't found her yet. Keep hoping, though!" a young guard told me.
"Thank you! Mr.-"
"Fredrich! See you around!"
"Get back in line, Stable Boy!" the sergeant yelled.
I felt elated, until I saw the shadows move. A soft song droned in my ears. I whipped my head around, looking for the source. Suddenly, a boy appeared and kissed me until I couldn't breathe. My vision turned black and I fainted.
