The room was just as I fantasized. Pink drapes covered barred windows, but a rope was still anchored to the dresser leg and coiled as if at any moment the princess would come back to launch it out the window. I shivered. By the rumors, it was possible. It would prove me a fake, but it would be cool. The drapes blew in a breeze that couldn't come from barred windows. I shivered again, but felt a pair of arms wrap around me.

"Before you came back, there were rumors that this room was haunted." Fredrich's voice slid like his arms around me.

"I know" I whispered.

"Then why are you scared?"

"Some strange things happened while I lived here." I scrambled for an excuse.

"Well then" he scratched the back of his neck. "Maybe it is haunted. Wonder who's haunting this room?"

Suddenly a knickknack fell off the shelf, along with a mountain of dust.

I screamed and jumped. Before I knew it, I was in Fredrich's arms. His lips were almost touching mine. No one was around but the blue feather that fell from the fan that turned on by itself.

"Was- was that on before?"

"I don't think so."

"Oh dear" I whispered under my breath.

"Darned tooting"

"Should we run?"

"I'm not sure. Why are we whispering?"

"I'm not sure."

I jumped out of his arms as a loud thump came from the balcony. His arms were still wrapped around me like a teddy bear.

"I think we should leave. Whatever is here doesn't want us here."

"Yeah" I whispered, then cleared my throat "Let's go."

Fredrich's arms tried to pull me towards the door.

"Hold on, I need to check something out."

"I'll wait outside."

Fredrich left the room and a vase shattered against the door. Colbin appeared on the balcony and pushed a chair against the door.

"I told you to stay away from him"

"I invited you too! I just didn't want to know if the Princess was here alone."

"Oh. I'm sorry. I should have been here."

I sighed. "Now I won't know if she's still here."

"Ghosts aren't real anyway."

"I really don't believe that" I teased, flowing out of the room.

My life went on like this for two years, desperately falling deeper in love with two boys and a fake identity
