chapter 3 | sibling love

After picking my scattered books and pencils off of the floor and putting it back in my bag, we both went into class.
"Y/N do you want to sit next to each other? I don't know anyone here yet, so it'd be fun to sit next to a familiar face" asked Sora.
"Sure thing!"

I took my seat at a table in the last row on the window side and he took the seat beside me. Before we could talk any further the teacher walked in signaling the beginning of a tedious day.

Finally, the bell rang. I survived my first day. I looked to my side to find Sora already waiting for me.
"Y/N where do you live? Maybe we could walk home together?" he asked you.
"(your address)" I answered and noticed his eyes widen.
"No way, we're practically neighbor's Y/N-chaaan. We can walk together every day!" he cheered jumping up and down.
Without letting me say another word he took me by my arm and practically dragged me outside the classroom.

All of a sudden I felt someone else tugging at my other arm. Sora also came to a halt wondering what stopped the both of us. Dear lord, what did I do to deserve this?

I turned my head slowly having a hunch about who it was, but hoping it wasn't him. The one person I didn't wanna see. Please, don't let it be him. Pleaseeeee!

But apparently today was not my lucky day as I saw a pair of golden eyes staring at me. He was leaning on the door frame with his grey and black hair gelled up as usual and a smirk on his face, still having a tight grip on my arm.

"Hey, hey, hey Y/N-chan. How was my little sisters first day at Fukurodani? Did you like it? You loved it didn't you? AKAAAASHI did you hear that? She's loving it already!" I shook his hand off and gave him an angry glare.

If my personality was loud, his was deafening.

"What are you doing here Kou?" you asked, the irritation clearly noticeable in your voice.

"You know as a third year and the best older brother there is, I thought I'd give you the honor of coming by to see how you were doing before practice starts. I even brought Akaashi with me."

You didn't even notice the raven-haired boy who was standing beside your pain in the ass brother with a stoic and emotionless look on his face.

As usual. I think I never saw him smile once. Does that boy even know how to smile? Maybe he is suffering from RBF-syndrome.
I don't know who's worse - the clown or the zombie beside him.

Kou and Akaashi are on the volleyball team and an inseparable duo. My brother is the captain and ace of the team and his lifeless friend is the setter. Although Akaashi Keiji was a year younger than him, they get along surprisingly well and seem to be joined at the hip. Kotarou was the loud and obnoxious one while Akaashi was the quiet and stern type. Maybe they balanced each other out, I don't know. I can't put up with either one of them.

Sora was still standing there with a dumbfound expression on his face, clearly lost about what's going on.

"I'm honored your majesty, but you shouldn't have. I can already feel a cold breeze blowing from Icy over there" I said bowing down mockingly and pointing to the setter whose blue eyes lingered on me, seemingly unbothered.

Before they could say another word, I pulled Sora away yelling "BYEEE!" and dragged him outside of the school building. I would've loved to see the dumb look on their faces.
When we reached the exit our faces were red and we were panting for air. We both put our hands on our knees trying to catch our breaths. As our breathing got steadier we started walking home and I gave him a short explanation to answer some of his burning questions. No need to tell him your whole life story I thought to myself. Sora looked like he had a million more, but I shut that down reaaaal quick with a glare.

"I still can't believe Bokuto Kotarou is your brother. He is ONE OF THE TOP FIVE ACES!! How could you hide that from me! I thought we were best friends" he said pouting.

"Sora we literally know each other for how long? A couple hours? Do you want to know my family tree, the color of Kou's boxers and my tampon size too?"

Suddenly he started laughing hysterically. He threw his head back and held his stomach, even shedding a few tears.

Is it me or does he sound like the hyenas from Lion King?

I just couldn't hold back anymore and howled; his laugh was really contagious. We stood there, laughing our asses off. It's been a while since I had this much fun. After some time both of us finally shut up and continued our way home.

We stopped at my house first, his one being three buildings away. I just put my arms around him and squeezed him tightly. "I'm glad we met today Sora. Best friend has a nice ring to it" I said giving him a big smile.

Maybe this new start won't be so bad after all?
