Chapter 1
Many years ago, during the reign of the First Hokage, ways outside a village was a little girl. She had orange hair tied back in low buns, she had stormy grey eyes. She wore a white bandana in her hair, sandals, and an orange kimono. She was about three years old, she was running away from a group of men pursuing her.
"Leave me alone!" the little one cried out running over a hill.
"Get back Talia!" one of them shouted. "We just want your power!"
"You will make a great military asset!" another man shouted. "A weapon!"
"I'm a child! I don't want to be part of your stupid group!" Talia cried zig-zagging through the forest. One of the men was Talia's father, he was not a very nice man, and every day was a complete nightmare. Always dressed to cover bruises, didn't help when villagers would look away from the visible ones. Freezing everything she touched. She was tired, she was scared; she just wanted to be loved. An arrow passed her cheek, and cutting it, she let out a cry. She then got up as fast as possible, charging towards a cave. A pair of large red eyes appeared in the dark, growling seeped out of it. She stepped closer to see nine tails, moving around aimlessly. It was the Nine-Tails Fox, she had only heard powerful and terrifying stories about the creature.
"You dare awake me?" the fox asked. Talia looked back to see the group of men trying to pursue her, Talia darted inside the cave and hid behind the Nine-Tails leg.
"Please, don't let them find me," Talia pleaded. "Please, Mr. Fox."
"Talia! You wretched little girl!" her father called out. "You are in for a major beating!" Talia let out a whimper, as she grabbed onto the fur of the Tailed Beast. "When we get home I will introduce you to Mr. Hot Rod and his wife Ms. Belt!" The running became distant. Talia stepped around the fox, she peered around the corner. A hand grabbed her by the collar and slammed her against the wall of the cave harshly. "You think I'm stupid?"
"No!" Talia cried out, her father hitting her in the stomach. "Please stop!"
"Stop running away! Know your place!" Her father yelled as he continued to hit her. The footsteps of the men started to approach. Talia put her hand out, she put it on her father's arm. It turned to ice. He got angrier and started to hit her even more. Suddenly, a claw slammed down, breaking her father's arm. He cried out in pain dropping her, she looked up to see the Nine-Tail Fox coming to her defense, Talia was surprised and grateful. Her father looked up to see the beast, he started to scream all of the men trying to pursue her showed up in an instant all of them trying to kill or take control of the fox. He easily took some of them out.
"I'm taking you back to the village," a man said grabbing her by her hair, he began to drag her.
"No more!" Talia cried out, she slammed her hands on the ground, the ground then became icy, and all the men stopped fighting as their bodies became ice sculptures. The ice soon shattered, killing all of the men including her father. She curled up and started crying, she stopped when she felt herself being picked up. She quickly found herself sitting on the nose of the fox. "Why did you come to my defense, Mr. Fox?"
"Their job is to protect you from me," the Fox answered.
"Thank you," Talia sniffed.
"Why did you kill them?" the fox asked.
"I didn't want you to get hurt because of me," Talia answered.
"Stay with me child, I will give you the ultimate protection," the fox declared.
"Do you have a name?" Talia asked.
"Kurama," the fox answered.
"Kurama," Talia repeated. For the next few years, Talia spent it traveling with Kurama, he wasn't as bad as people say. He helped her with her training as well, her summoning animal became a fox, not Kurama of course, but a fox. Talia was now nine years old, she lay on Kurama's back as they looked up at the night sky.
"Kurama how many stars are there?" Talia asked.
"Infinite," Kurama answered. "Do you like them?"
"They sure are pretty," Talia answered.
"Get some sleep, child," Kurama advised. "We have a long day tomorrow."
"Where are we going?" Talia asked.
"We are going back to the temple," Kurama answered. "I will tell you about the other Tailed Beast."
"Again?" Talia asked.
"Yes, again," Kurama laughed. Kurama went on to tell her about the other tailed beast and how they came to be, she soon fell asleep under a blanket off Kurama's fur. Kurama happened to shed a lot, and Talia took this opportunity to make a blanket for herself out of it. Talia loved the temple, it was beautiful. Then the wretched day, Talia had just turned twelve years old, Madara Uchiha attacked, no matter how hard Talia tried to defend Kurama, she was not strong enough. She managed to land a few attacks, but nothing major, they both got backed into a corner.
"Now, the Hidden Leaf will know vengeance," Madara laughed, he took control of Kurama with his Sharingan, and he took control under a genjutsu. As Madara fought Hashimara, Talia attacked the village. Once Madara fell dead, both of them were released from the genjutsu. Talia woke up in a hospital, she saw a man and woman in the same room as her.
"Hm?" Talia asked sitting up. "Where am I?"
"Good you are awake," the man with long black hair, and the woman had red hair. "Do you remember anything?" Talia shook her head. "Madara." Talia looked out the window to the village it was heavily damaged. "What happened?"
"You happened," the woman answered.
"Me?" Talia asked in horror. "I am so sorry, I never meant to--"
"It's alright child," the man said putting a hand on her. "You were being controlled by Madara." Talia sniffed. "You've been out for a couple of days."
"Who are you?" Talia asked.
"My name is Hashirama Senju, I'm the Hokage of the Hidden Leaf Village," the man answered. "And this is my wife Mito Uzumaki." She looked at the first two. "We have arranged living accommodation for you here in the village."
"By I attacked your village," Talia pointed out.
"Not by your will," Mito pointed out.
"Where's Kurama?" Talia demanded.
"Who?" Mito asked.
"Kurama, he's a giant fox," Talia answered.
"The Nine-Tails is too great, I couldn't allow him to roam free anymore," Hashirama answered. Talia's eyes went wide in horror. "I sealed him inside by wife Mito, she's his first Jinchuriki."
"Let him go!" Talia demanded jumping out of the bed, her fists started to hit Mito. "Let him go!"
"Talia," Hashirama said grabbing her fist.
"Your power is great, why don't you go and get sealed up?" Talia demanded.
"Why is this fox important to you?" Mito demanded.
"Kurama saved my life, I owe him life," Talia said as tears slipped out of her eyes. "And he's my best friend, I love him!" She held on to Mito's stomach and cried. "Let him back out!"
"No can do," Hashirama answered. "If I do that, Mito could end up dying, would that be right?"
"No," Talia sniffed.

By accommodations, Hashirama meant a special roped-off section in the village. A whole section was built right outside the circle. There was a gate for her to use in order for her to go into the rest of the village. In spite of most of the village hating her, Talia ended up getting married to a Senju. She had multiple children. She had six sons and six daughters, then they had children, and so forth. Talia made sure she on pass on the teachings of the Tailed Beasts, and that they were not mindless things of destruction. She made sure to teach the truth about Tailed Beasts and who created them, the Sage of Sixth Paths. Talia ended up marrying a Senju, she had them take on her clan named...The Mino Clan. Throughout time the village grew more accepting of the clan, and the clan started up a tea shop. It became highly popular. Along with the tea they served curried chicken sandwiches.
The clan continued to live in the trees, they had bathhouses and a main dining hall on the ground, but they lived in the sky. They used ziplines or spiral stairs to get on the ground as well as off the ground.

Many years later, one of the great-granddaughters of Talia was fast asleep in her room in the trees. The little girl was about twelve years old, she had light blue hair and stormy gray eyes. Her slumber was disrupted by the sounds of someone knocking on her window repeatedly. She sat up and rubbed her eyes. The sun had barely risen, in the window was a boy, he had shiny black hair, fashioned into a bowl cut. The boy had round eyes and extremely thick eyebrows. The little girl opened her window.
"Katsumi! Have you forgotten what day it is?" the boy demanded. "Your genin exams!"
"That's not till tomorrow, Lee," Katsumi answered. "School isn't for a couple more hours."
"How do you expect to pass without doing a run to get your hot-blood passion pumping?" Lee asked climbing onto the window sill. "Where is your youth?" She grabbed her covers, pulled them back, and went back under them. "Kat!" He jumped onto her bed.
"You win!" Katsumi huffed kicking him out of the room. She grabbed clothes and bathing items, and she stepped out of her room to find her mother and father at the table. Her father was currently freezing a kunai. Her mother was using blue hell flames to heat up a bot of tea. Her mother was from a different land. "Morning!"
"A bit early," her father said looking at her. "Let me guess...Lee?"
"Who else?" Lee said busting open the front door.
"Would you like some tea?" Mom asked morning a cup.
"That would be delightful, thank you," Lee said taking off his shoes. Katsumi stepped outside, grabbed onto a hook, and zipped down to the bathhouses. She quickly got ready. She put the top section of her hair in space buns, while she let the rest hang down. (Her outfit is like Reys' from Star Wars, but red and yellow.) She wore her ninja sandals, her staff located on her back, she put goggles on the top of her head. She grabbed a biscuit from the dining hall before heading out to do some early morning training with Lee.
"Morning Katsumi!" a guard greeted the gate they passed by to get into the main section of the village.
"Morning!" Katsumi greeted as she started to do her morning laps. Lee continued to have her go through an insane morning routine. "Is all this really necessary?"
"Of course!" Lee said doing one-handed pushups. "Why would they not be?"
"They are a bit intense," Katsumi said as she did regular pushups.
"As they should!" Lee exclaimed with fire in his eyes. Katsumi glanced at her watch, her eyes grew wide.
"I'm late!" Katsumi exclaimed; she dashed away from the training sight. She made it inside the building and skidded to a stop when she saw Iruka-sensei with a tied-up Naruto. She didn't stop as she wanted, she slammed into Iruka-sensei, making him and Naruto tumble down the stairs. "Sorry!" All the kids started laughing.
"What a freak," Sakura whispered.
"A total loser," another kid whispered.
"KATSUMI!" Iruka-sensei roared, in seconds she sat on the ground in front of the class next to Naruto. She and Naruto always seemed to get in trouble together, he got in trouble for being a horrible student, while she always tends to show up late and accidentally freeze classmates, sometimes the whole village. Naruto Uzumaki...also the Nine-tails Jinchuriki...Katsumi knows the village isn't supposed to talk about it, she also knows that her generation isn't supposed to know about what Naruto had inside him. But when you live outside the village and in the trees, nobody is really going to stop you. Especially when your great-grandmother tells countless tales about her days with Kurama.
"I'm at the end of my rope with you two," Iruka-sensei scolded. "Naruto, you failed the graduation test last time and the time before that. Tomorrow, you've got another chance, and you're messing up again. And Katsumi, tardiness isn't going to be allowed in the real world, you need to start showing up on time."
"Sorry," Katsumi apologized as Naruto turned away.
"Katsumi! Stop freezing the walls!" Ino shivered along with the other students, Katsumi glanced to see ice growing thicker and thicker on the windows. "Learn to control your Jutsu!" Ino Yamanaka, is the prettiest girl in class, along with one of the bossiest ones.
"Haha!" Naruto laughed.
"Fine! Because you missed it, Naruto and Katsumi, everyone will review the transformation Jutsu!" Iruka-sensei demanded as the ice started to melt away.
"Aww!" Everyone groaned. Everyone got in line to show off their Jutsu progress.
"All right, Sakura here," Sakura announced as she took her turn. Sakura Haruno...one of the most annoying kids in class."Let's do it! Transform!" She turned into Iruka-sensei. "You transformed into me. Good."
"Yes! I did it!" Sakura cheered transforming back into herself. "Yes! Yes! Yes! Sasuke, did you see that?" Sasuke Uchiha...class show off...quiet...Katsumi felt bad for what happened to him, a big tragedy.
"Next, Sasuke Uchiha," Iruka-sensei ordered. He silently transformed into Iruka-sensei as well. "Uh, good." He transformed back. "Next Kastumi Mino." Katsumi stepped up.
"Transform!" She exclaimed, she took the form of an older lady with grey hair held in low buns.
"Lady Talia? Nicely done," Iruka-sensei complimented.
"Thanks!" Katsumi chimed turning back, she went to the back of the line.
"Next, Naruto Uzumaki," Iruka-sensei announced.
"This is a total waste of time, Naruto," Shikamaru said. Shikamaru Nara is one of the laziest, but the smartest kid in the class. Even though it never showed on his test scores.
"We always pay for yours and Katusmi's screw-ups," Ino added.
"Like I care," Naruto grunted. He stepped forward. "Transform!" He transformed into a naked chick, covered in clouds. " Ooh. Heh."
"Huh?" Iruka-sensei asked going ghost white. He flew back with blood shooting out of his nose. Naruto transformed back laughing.
"Gotcha!" Naruto laughed. "That's my sexy Jutsu!
"Cut the stupid tricks!" Iruka-sensei demanded with tissues in his nose. "This is your last warning!" After class ended, Katsumi trodded her way over to the Mino Teashop.
"Why the long face child?" a voice asked as soon as she entered the shop. The walls were orange like the Nine-tails fur, it had red lights. There were booths all along the sides of the wall, on the farthest wall was where the counter was to order food. At the register was the woman she transformed into earlier.
"I was late to class again," Katsumi answered walking past the employee's door. "On top of that, I froze the classroom again." Her great-grandmother started laughing. "It's not that funny, do you know how hard it is to make friends?"
"You have friends," Lady Talia pointed out.
"Yeah Lee and my detention buddy Naruto," Katsumi answered.
"Better than none," Lady Talia laughed as Katsumi put on her apron. "Just be lucky you didn't set anything on fire again." Katsumi so happened to also inherit her mother's Jutsu...something she also had no control of. She has been trying to get better at the Jutsu she's inherited. Sometimes she would leave little fires behind as she walked, her ice was right there to stop it from spreading. Katsumi went into the kitchen area, she started to wash dishes. Soon her great-mother was standing next to her.
"I just want to be like the other kids," Katsumi sighed. "Normal."
"That's boring!" Lady Talia stuck out her tongue. "Nobody else gets to be you, love yourself."
"Easier said than done," Katsumi said, scrubbing a plate.
"Oh, Katsumi," Lady Talia sighed as she dried a teacup. "I attacked this village twice and I still have friends."
"Everyone loves you though," Katsumi said.
"It wasn't always easy, but I found my way and so will you," Lady Talia said touching her great-granddaughter's face. "Now, cheer up child." She kissed Katsumi's head, before sending her off to work more.
****
The next morning came; Katsumi was met at the gates by Naruto.
"Hey. Naruto," Katsumi greeted, skidding to a stop. If it wasn't Lee, then it was Naruto, for some odd reason those two never seemed to cross paths.
"This is your second time taking the exam right?" Naruto asked. "Why didn't you pass the first time?"
"I accidentally set the classroom fire, someone who has no control of their Jutsu, shouldn't be allowed to become a ninja," Katsumi answered.
"That's not true!" Naruto denied. "Everyone can see that you are the splendid ninja! Today, me and you will pass and show everyone what we are made of! Believe it!"
"Thanks, you are a good ninja as well," Katsumi complimented as they made their way to the school. "You work hard, and that's an admirable trait."
"You mean it?" Naruto asked with stars in his eyes.
"My great-grandmother always says the one who works the hardest will outshine us all one day," Katsumi answered. "Out of our generation, I think that shining one is going to be you and my best friend Lee."
"Wow!" Naruto laughed. "Come on, it will be bad if we are late for the exam!" They managed to make it into the class with thirty seconds left.
"We will now start the final exam," Iruka-sensei announced. "When your name is called, proceed to the testing room. The final test will be on the clone Jutsu." Katsumi ended up passing. She placed her forehead protector around her neck. She now stood outside with the others, Lady Talia was congratulating her, over in the distance was Naruto...the only one not to pass.
"If they don't pass him, I will," Lady Talia frowned. "They keep denying him."
"They really should give him a chance," Katsumi agreed. "He's going to be greater than all of us here one day. Maybe be a stroke of luck, minds will be changed."
"Let's hope," Lady Talia agreed. "Come on, the whole clan is waiting for you." They went home, the Mino Tea Shop was closed for the night. As they celebrated another of their clan members became a ninja.
