31. Big threats and bitchslaps

ESTRELLA/INDIGO POV

The Gods sat around the table. Bitching. They were always bitching. Whining. Groaning on about boring things. A smirk carved my face as I walked forwards towards them, the floor rippling with a beach covered in water, the waves soundlessly enveloping th train of purple that followed the dress everywhere I walked when I'm up here. Here, I'm Estrella, Goddess of Magic, Guardian of the Stars. And here, my word is final.

I took my seat as silently as I could. They'd left it there for me, out of fear or courtesy, or because they didn't like having 5 chairs around a table, I didn't know. Exor's seat was... filled? Not by them, no, they're more traitorous that I was, but by Azari. I knew that giving the Guardian of the Night the ability to cast champions was a good idea. They earned their seat. It deserved it.

"So, you've got a Champion, and you're not telling us their name?" Atura narrowed her eyes at Azari. "You've been awfully secretive about this Champion. Are we even certain they exist?"

The time was right to make my presence known. 3 of these thought me dead. 2 knew I was alive. 1 knew where I was hiding. Time to even out the playing field, as the ball was in my court now.

"Funny of you to be questioning another on their Champion, Atura-" I smirked, the flood of joy filling my body as I saw confused gazes hit me. Glares, unspoken apologies, and curses communicated only by the flame in their eyes. "-when you let your champion, let's see, almost fall to their death-"

The memory of the Fall of Mezalea, still fresh in my head, when I had to save Aeron from falling to his death. Without me... God knows what could be happening. I can still remember the pain I felt while looking down at such a strong person, so weak. So broken.

"-let him get shot and stabbed multiple times-" I carried on, ignoring the gasps from the people in the room. Atura may have known me better than the others, but I won't let her talk down to me and brush over the mistreatment of her Champion. "-and ignores the fact she got drugged. If anyone should be lecturing anyone about how to look after a Champion, it should be Aquaen to you. At least she looks after Aalto."

The silence was tangible, tension stinging my eyes as I looked around. The strongest God coming back with no warning, no explanation, no anything must be confusing, but me ripping Atura a new one? That was good and everyone knows it.

Aeor looked between me and Atura before speaking up in a low voice. "Estrella. We didn't know you were still alive. What happened-?" He sounded almost worried. Shocking someone like him could even feel worried.

"Not the matter. What is the matter is what's happening. Evangeline, Skye, and their army of undead are closing in on the Desert Roses, and I fear that something else may happen. An informant on the ground told me that they saw something, something big." I said as I stood up, hands finding the table. A map appeared, the entirety of The Land Beyond stretched out below my fingertips. The soaring mountains of Rivendale, the swooping cliffs of the Cod Empire, and every woodland and field in between.

"What did they say-?" Ignius had stood up too, leaning over the table to look at me. I hate gods, don't get me wrong, they're beings of corruption and power hoarding, but Ignius was among the best.

I took a deep breath. "There's a war closing in. One of the Desert Roses, potentially one of our own, won't be with us much longer. Evangelines power grows stronger, and with it comes Exor helping in the field. This is a gods war. Gods need to fight it. Not humans." I snapped, jabbing my finger at the map. "So either get your heads together and in the game or you'll lose the best asset a second time."

My chair scraped across the chair as I walked away. No need for anything more. Explanations, threats, everything I need to get my team, my friends, as much help as I can.

I walked through the void, eventually reaching the exit to the mortal plane. A tall, black haired figure was exiting too. We made eye contact and I tried to run, but their grip was too strong on my arm.

"Estrella. Good to see you." Exor sneered as they pulled me back. We stood in the exit way to the human world, glaring. "I see you're operational agai-"

Let's just keep it simple and easy and say I bitchslapped that mf so hard he'll be seeing sounds for a week.
