19. I Am Losing My Sense Of Humanity, But Pretty Cave!
Rowan POV
(Will I be describing my own experiences at England's *insane* cliffs? Yes, but enjoy! Have some fluff for a change! It won't stay long.)
"Hey, sweetie." I smiled, wrapping my arm around Alfie's shoulders and resting my head on him. "How've you been?"
"What do you want this time?" He said, not looking up from his book. I glanced down at the pages. It seemed to be some history book, probably one Caspian or Tsuki had leant him. The pages looked almost sepia, the purplish ink so faded with time that spilling a drink on it wouldn't make it bleed.
"Whatever do you mean?" I said, a tiny bit confused. I don't always ask him how he is, but when I do, it's rarely because I want something from him. "I just wanted to know how you are."
He looked down at me his cyan hair falling around his face. He planted a kiss on my forehead, smiling as he closed his book. "I'll take that with a pinch of salt, hun, but ok."
He stood up, without telling me, which caused me to flop down dramatically. Usually, he's the dramatic one, but ever since his empire was destroyed, I've tried to have more energy, for the both of us.
"I have something to show you." I smiled, grabbing his coat and throwing me mine. "It's a bit of a walk away."
I pulled it on, leaving my communicator on the sofa. "You're being cryptic, you're never normally this cryptic, explain yourself."
He giggled, holing the door open for me and letting me step out into the salty sea air. You could see the towers of Oceana and the low villages of Pixandria from where the house was. I think the Cod Empire was the only Empire where the ruler lived in a little seaside cottage with their fiancé.
My fingers interlocked with his as we walked to the cliffs. They were towering, 100 metre drops, shallow rocky water at the base. If you fell, there was no hope for you. The water was mad, like Aquaen decided to let out all her rage at the base of the cliffs of the Cod Empire. Why Alfie insisted of a walk along the edge I have no idea.
The wind was fierce, like a thousand screams in the air, all aimed at you, all the rage in the world was pointed at us. The salty sea air was almost choking, but nothing compared to the bullets of rain coming right at me, like ice in the air.
Alfie said something, but the wind was too strong and the rain too angry for me to hear. I shouted at him, telling him I couldn't hear, and he repeated himself.
"THE WEATHER SHOULD BE BETER ON THE DAY!!"
The day? What day? And how would it be better? It's the Cod Empire, the rain and the wind were a constant. Unless he got Aalto to help us fend off the rain, there was no way of getting it to be better.
He suddenly pointed at a gentle drop in the terrain, a natural staircase almost, that I had never noticed. He pulled my arm, dragging me, almost at a run. Despite me being 3 inches taller than him, Alfie's speed is unmatched.
He carefully dragged me down the steps, pulling me into a cave in the cliff face. It was so dark until Alfie flicked a switch.
The opening lit up, a huge string of fairy lights danced over the ceiling, flickering like fireflies in a setting sun. Vines hung from the ceiling, intertwining with each other to create an almost otherworldly feel. In little alcoves in the walls, candles sat, their wax dripping down, securing their place forever in the cave walls.
"This is beautiful-" I whispered, walking deeper in, looking in awe at the rows of dark stone benches and the beautiful altar that stood at the end. "You made this?"
"Caspian and Aeron helped me. You told me you needed a place for our wedding, so I sorted it."
I felt a warmth creeping over my cheeks. Alfie had done this. Alfie, my soon to be husband, had made such beautiful site.
I hugged him, burying my face in his soft blue hair. "It's amazing."
He blushed, looking up at me as I kissed his forehead. "You're amazing."
(Short, but fluffy. SORRY IT IS SO SHORT I didn't want to drag this one out because it's meant to be really fluffy! bAIIII)
